First Oktoberfest beer I ever swirled the yeast into the glass for. The last Erdinger weissbier I had was a big dud, let's see how this goes...

Pours a golden color with deep haze from the yeast. The head is stoic in its petrification. Loves to hold, tries to lace.

Has some ripe banana notes that compete with malty wheat and toasted grain notes, not unlike many a Marzen. It offers a musty tang with some metallic flair tailing. Clove is very minor, but there's a strange vanilla presence. Mostly bready, versus a hefe with a good yeast character. The breadiness encompasses all that's slightly darker, slightly maltier, and with a toastier and more caramelly backbone. Not awful, but shit, give me something to talk about here!

Slightly smoky flavor with big maltiness that has contributions from both wheat and barley. Toastier than normal and with a burst of sweetness that isn't cut by the needed lemony/orange-y note. Plays with notes of roasted banana and syrup, and that brings to mind pan-juice caramel. Has something along the lines of tutti frutti going for it, but I wouldn't describe it quite as bubble gum. Almost apple-like in its fruitiness, plus the wheaty bread notes--it's like eating a banana and sliced apple sandwich. Note that these bananas are browned and the apple is slightly oxidized. Decent flavor, I suppose. Just a bit musty and grainy.

Pretty smooth without sacrificing richness. The body doesn't hold too much more than medium. Carbonation is tingling, but not crisp. Many a hefe equals this kind of feel, which is not bad.

What can I say, other than 'much better than their last one'? Not what one might look for, but a different take on a fall German beer, for sure.

This is the best beer I have ever drink. The taste after-flavour is awesome, it smells like a real beer. This is the real thing, the flavour is the best part.. at first swig I automatially realized, this is the best taste and mouhfeel I've ever had. Drink it when not eating. Had just a bad experience, I bought some on a promotion beacause of expiration date, and altought it was still on a valid date the taste was completely different, so make sure it is bottled recently before buying.

09/25/13 On tap. Listed as a weizen. More body than I expected. Nice balance of dry and refreshing. Although Oktoberfest is a harbinger of colder days, this is a great transitional brew.

From the 11.2 oz bottle. Sampled on January 18, 2014.

It pours a cloudy and foggy pale yellow with a huge carbonated white head that fizzles down rather quickly. It looks like there is some yeast still floating around this one.

The aroma is of toasted biscuit malts, wheat, and lemongrass.

The body is light and refreshing making it easy to quaff.

The taste is echoes the aroma with a lot of toasted biscuit, wheat, and a clean lemon finish.

Pours translucent golden yellow with a faint white head that settles to a thin film on top before disappearing completely. No lace to speak of.

Smell is mostly malt with faint citrus notes and a hint of clove.

Taste is of sweet malt with some notes of Autumn spices.

Mouthfeel is lighter bodied with high carbonation. A stream of tiny bubbles rises continuously throughout the drink down.

A decent Oktoberfest. This is lighter in body and less spice-forward than most of it's American counterparts.

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color and has a high amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high white head that gradually died down, consistently leaving a thin head covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Faint to light aromas of caramel and toasted malts are present in the nose along with notes of bananas, the latter of which becomes stronger as the beer warms up.
T: The taste shares some similarities with the smell, but is more balanced with stronger flavors of bananas from the yeast that stand up to the caramel and toasted malts.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I found this beer to be unique because it is a maltier version of a hefeweizen and makes for a good wheat beer to drink when it is a little chillier outside in the spring or fall.
