Got this one via trade, thanks trevorwideman! Finally got around to drinking this tasty brew, dug it out of the depths of my beer cupboard last night.
This dunkel poured dark and murky, slightly darker than a cola. One finger tan head formed on a gentle pour and quickly dissipated. Me bad, glass wasnt clean as i was drinking water out of it earlier, needless to say there wasnt much for lacings. Medium level of medium sized bubbles carbonated this brew.
Bready and nutty aromas of wheat on the forefront. The aromas of chocolate and dark roast coffee from the roasted barley plays a slightly lesser role. Its all rounded out by the earthy and slightly lemony and grassy hop bitterness.
Theres a fair amount of wheat, with the nutty and bready flavours of whole wheat in this brew, making up the backbone of grain flavour. Some hints of clove and anise also present, but not as prominent as the flavours of the roast barley, which still isnt as predominant as the wheat. Nice solid hints of dark chocolate and dark roast coffee from the roasted grain. Finishes with a clean and crisp earthy hop with a lemon grass tang.
A light to medium bodied wheaty, nutty, and slightly bitter brew, from both the roast barley as well as the hops. Very well balanced between these elements.
A tasty and refreshing beer. Very drinkable, and would serve as a good intro to brews using roasted barley, or would make a nice refreshing beer in the dog days of summer to give one their fix of roasted barley. Glad i got to try this one.

Poured from pint bottle into a Guinness glass. Best by 08-2014
A- Pours a deep, dark brown that is very murky with light coming in on the edges when the glass is tilted. High slightly brownish-white head.
S- Slight dark fruit, fruit cakey thing going on, light spice of clove and allspice.
T- Taste is more like a normal Hefe with light spice, banana, and orange zest. Some added dark fruit in there as well.
M- Light and refreshing.
O- I nice lighter version of a dunkel, I enjoyed the added raisin notes and enjoyed this much more than Erdinger's regular hefe. A very affordable beer as well, a quality pint of beer for 2 bucks is always welcomed.
