500ml bottle into nonic pint. best before january 2015, enjoyed on june 11, 2014

a: super murky dark brown with a bit of a chestnut glow around the edges. nearly three fingers of head off of an aggressive pour, but quickly fades. ugly but pretty

s: mostly toast, roasted malt, spice, and raisins. slight yeast, some chocolate, and hints of overripe bananas. quite nice

t: in three words: toasted raisin bread. toast, raisins, spices, and bits of chocolate. less prominent dark fruit flavours in here too, like figs and dates. timid yeast and banana notes. finishes malty/bready. very sweet overall, and heavy on the toasted raisin bread side, but it's good

m: light to medium body. the carbonation is medium-to-high and feels really sharp, almost biting, upon suds-tongue contact

o: my first dunkelweizen ever happens to be very flavourful, though one-sided, while being simultaneously drinkable -- this beer went down ridiculously fast. definitely wouldn't mind having more in the future

Looks nice with a big head although mine dissipated quite a bit and lacing was decent but not great.

The smell was sweet with cola and yeast being the prominent notes.

The taste was delicate, sweet and malty. There are notes of dark fruits, cola and chocolate and a hint of refreshing hops. There are subtle complexities at work here and the beer grows on you as you get down the glass,

Mouthfeel is pretty carbonated and good.

Overall this is a very refreshing yet refined beer. I slightly preferred the Weihenstephaner Dunkel which seemed to have more pronounced characteristics. But this one is a good tasty beer. I had a SN Torpedo IPA straight after this and the contrast between the sweetness of this one and the bitterness of the Torpedo was exquisite. So a tasting tip.... dunkel Weiss followed by IPA = good!

My mark out of one hundred would be 78.

1 PINT .9 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in a weizen glass

A - It pours brown with some deep amber highlights. It topped with a giant tan head that slowly settles to a thin layer.

S - I get some wheat malt and cocoa. Kind of disappointing.

T - There is not a lot going on here. It is kind of bland. I get a little cocoa.

M - Medium

O - I enjoy this style, so even though it is bland by the standards of the style, I like it. I just with it had some spice to it. It is easy drinking, but I'll stick with my favorites in this style.

Poured from a bottle into an Erdinger weisbier glass. The beer pours out a hazy deep tawny brown with a massive mocha-colored head that seems to last forever. It's difficult to get a nose on this beer with this massive head trapping all the aromatics. Once it dissipated a bit, I picked up some bready malty notes, spicy phenols, a puff-pastry like note, and some mild fruity esters.

Medium-light body with a mild, fruity flavor. Not as much malt sweetness as I anticipated. Some nice yeast and banana flavors up front and a healthy dose of spicy clove-like phenols at mid-palate. Some hop character is evident as well. Refreshing and light.

Overall, a very good German wheat beer, but not quite good enough to advance to the head of the class. The flavor is a bit mild and the phenols and esters don't run quite deep enough. Still, one heck of a nice beer.
