Poured a cloudy orange-gold color...lovely chunky 3-finger cap that lasts! Lots of effervescent activity. Not overly perfumed to the nose had the standard weiss-hefe aromas of banana-cloves...but very subdued. Started with a mild but refreshing maltiness which then gets peppery as the carbonation kicks the palate and the mild fruity-spicy tastes are imparted then finishes a tad thin with a slight sweetish after taste.

A good commercial weissbrau, subdued, light body...but very thirst quenching and very drinkable. (521 characters)

The very dense and fine head gets foamy as it fades. The body is cloudy and opaque, of a golden orange color. Interesting smell, sweet juicy strawberry and wheat. The taste is decent, but the strawberry in the smell made me expect more. Very citric, with a refreshing wheat aspect. Carbonation is a little weak. The beer only gave me a mouthfeel in the first part of my mouth: clearly lacking here. A decent beer, but not a great example of its style. (451 characters)

Aroma is faint, but very lemony with a bit of bannana and orange. Cloudy yellow with a big white head. Taste is light and fruity. Prickly mouthfeel, strong carbonation and a spicy, peppery finish. Highly drinkable and fruity makes for one of the best drinkin on the porch on hot day beers I've had in a while. (309 characters)

A big, white, crusty, rocky head. A dark, dirty gold, almost clear beer. Lots of carbonation. Cloudy on last pour. Smell is somewhat soapy. Light, a touch fruity, but no big esters. Too faint bananas in the front. The middle sweetens, turns a little creamy. Dry, nutty, fresh, crisp, almost lagery bitter finish. So I like that nutty finish. And the beer does get better (fruitier) as it warms. But it's really a little too crisp and clean for me. A decent taste, but needs more hefe- in the -weizen. (500 characters)

pours a cloudy mid to light yellow color, with a slight head that gives away quickly and leaves slight lacing in glass.Has a slightly fruity smell that is pleasant but vague.Taste is very pleasant a bit watery with a slight spiciness that finishes very quickly.mouthfeel is well carbonated like soda is about all I can say.Drinkability is high due to it's refreshing, crisp, thirstquenching qualities(nothing offensive here).Overall I would say that I've had wheat beers with a lot more flavor than this one, but sometimes that flavor is'nt all that pleasant.but as far as just having a nice really easy drinking beer thats a much better quality than just banging down some Bud's, try this one. (691 characters)

Nice thick brown 1 pint 9 oz. bottle with a best by date (10-2004 sampled 3-2004), a Reinheitsgebot claim and All Natural, Bottle-Fermented on it. Bottle has Hefe-Weizen in red letters under Erdinger. I searched their website and listed the alc % by the 'beer with fine yeast'.
Aroma: Smells like a river. Not in a bad way, just that’s the only thing I get. A very mild smell.
Appearance: Hazy thin yellow with a fluffy white head the collapsed into a well fed thin sheet that gave a little lace on the glass.
Flavor: Extremely mild taste. Some nice wheat flavors come in late in the swallow, and the slightest hint of hops in the taste, but I had to hunt for them. Tastes like an American Macrobeer with a minor metallic taste at the end.
Mouthfeel: Thin body, just not much there.
Overall Impression: Hefe-Weizen? Are you sure? German? Really? I think Bud has just repackaged its product. Nothing here; nothing offensive, nothing inspiring, nothing to write home about, there is just nothing. Maybe that’s a tad harsh, I do get some nice wheat tastes, but it’s minor. I guess this would make a good thirst quencher, or a nice gateway beer to introduce to the masses. For me, I’ll claim my karma point and move on. (1,245 characters)

It's called Weibbier on the label.
It pours a cloudy butterscotch color with a medium-sized white head with some sticky and trailing lace.
It has an upfront yeasty aroma, which fades into more of a fresh bread dough smell. The light citrusy aroma is present throughout.
The medium body has an almost rye-like wheat malt flavor with a light sweetness added.
The hops provide a lime-like bitterness and ever so slight metallic tang.
It's a smooth and rounded brew with an apple pectin quality to the mouthfeel. The presence of yeast is well in the background where it belongs. A mild taste of vodka is noticeable. Very Refreshing! (633 characters)

Appearance: Deep hazy golden orrange hue with a nice frothy creamy head leaves big ol' patches of lacing. Aroma: Grassy tone to it with none of the banana and clove notes that I have come to know and love. Taste: Not impressed here, leaves a malted wheat sweetness to it with some mild yeast characteristics just lacks for a "true" German hefe. Mouthfeel: Creamy texture a bit light for a hefe. Drinkability: Middle of the road a lackluster German hefeweizen, but does seem refreshing epsecially on a warmer day. (512 characters)

Light orange/yellow color and slight haze in color. Head is pretty light as well. Smells like wheat with a strong banana aroma. Taste is sweet in mouth with light banana flavor, finish has pleasing wheat flavor. Feel in mouth is smooth and pleasent. Overall the beer is very drinkable! (285 characters)

A classic looking Hefe, a orange/golden color with a billowy, white head. A wheat, yeast , clove aroma, rather on the lighter side for a wheat beer. It has a light, refreshing body with flavors of spicy yeast, cloves and light vanilla, not very bold but still a tasty brew. (273 characters)

The beer pours a cloudy gold color with a thin white head. The aroma is awful. It's musty almost like bad homebrew. I guess it has pale malt and yeast scent. The taste is pretty terrible as well. This has to be the worst hefe I've ever had. It is pale and musty with way too much carbonation. The mouthfeel sucks. It is a medium bodied beer with huge carbonation. I burp after every sip. The beer drinks horrible. I'm not sure I'll finish this one. (448 characters)

This was a pleasant surprise, and yet one more step towards fully converting me over to weissbiers and hefe's. A hazy apricot in appearance, with a chunky white head on the pour, but not much retention after a minute or so. Sweet grain, light spice and mild fruit characteristics on the nose. Most predominant for me was a sweet candied banana flavour, rounded out quite nicely by a grassy hop finish. Full smooth pleasing mouthfeel, I found this to be a very relaxing and drinkable beer, and think it would make a great session beer for the style. It's not bursting with intense spice and fruit charactersistics, but is smooth and well-rounded for what it is. (660 characters)

Pours cloudy yellow with a nice head. Yeasty sweet nose with some fruit. Taste is rather malty with some spice as the main up front profiles. Some citrus. The hops has a different taste than I am used to. Fairly bity and dry in the finish.

A decent Hefe, but I have had better. (279 characters)

Slightly cloudy gold color, not much head.

Smells like a beer. Mostly smells of grain and a slight sweetness.

Tastes sweeter than you would think from the smell. Has a mild caramel and banana taste with a strong base taste of grain. The taste begins with sweet corn and then transitions to a basic grain flavor and finishes on a bitter hops note. It is pleasant to drink.

Mouthfeel is a bit thicker than you would expect, and lots of carbonation.

Not a bad beer and it is certainly drinkable. (504 characters)

A solid beer in its own right but just doesnt stack up against other Weiss beers Ive had in Germany.

The head of this beer can most simply be described as 'the white blob'. Its simply pours over the glass, but oddly enough does not last very long. Typical Weiss beer aromas are noticeable but not as prevelant. Something else is added to the mix however. I noticed a sort of burnt orange-like trip going on. Could've just been me since I saw that other reviewers hadnt noticed that flavor. Mouthfeel is a tad more watery than other weiss beers which really takes alot from the overall quality of the beer. The texture is one of my favorite qualities in Weiss beer. (667 characters)

Another beer from the Pivni Galeri in Prague. Pours a very dark yellow, not my favorite. Head is originally quite thick and creamy, but dissipates quickly. Smell is nothing very detectable, mostly smells like grain. Tastes very wheaty, and after swallowing I detect a thin film of particles lining my mouth, which I don't find to be particularly appealing. No big flavor to be found. Though not a big fan of this style of beer in general myself, this particular one I wouldn't recommend even to those who like the style. (520 characters)

pours an unattractive cloudy yellowish orange with a small white head. smells lightly of wheat and more of a malt fruitiness with a nice dose of banana. that dominates the nose. the taste is really malty with not much of that lovely wheat slap i have grown to love. a little fruity with just a dash of clove. the mouthfeel is the best trait, nice and creamy/crisp. not too exciting overall, its ok, but thats about it. (418 characters)

Pours to a cloudy pale color with generous head and carbonation. Aroma is yeasty and grainy. Flavor is tart wheat and very mild yeast--not much in the way of the expected banana/clove component. Finishes dry and tart with a hint of grainy sweetness--very nice. It was not what I was expecting but it was very good. (314 characters)

Can be found at Trader Joe's. Pours a cloudy, pale golden color. Decently large white head that faded rather quickly. Moderate streams of carbonation rising to the surface.

Smell: bland. Not much to describe except short on banana, short on cloves indicative of a good German hefeweizen. Earthy, bready malt aroma and whiff of alcohol.

Taste: again, this doesn't strike me as a German hefeweizen, at least not a top-level one. Yeasty, malt flavor but lacking the complementary banana & clove tastes that are the signature of a good German hefe, IMO. Little bit of an astringent alcohol taste at the back of the palate.

Feel: dry, almost dusty feel. Light and refreshing.

Drinkability: This hefe is reasonably drinkable. I'd drink it over some of the American hefeweizens I've tasted in the past. Given an absence of another German hefe, I'll drink this one. Still, Erdinger's offering is average at best and not one of the top examples of the style. (961 characters)

This one poured a light honey colour with tons of tiny streaming bubbles creating a soapy head.

Nice nose with citrus, banana and clove scents.

This had very light wheat/citrus flavours with a hint of alcohol. Was very light on the palate with a mild alcohol aftertaste.

Overall I find this beer moderately refreshing and a decent wheat beer. Not quite up to par with the best of the German Hefeweizens. Reminds me more of a version you might find at a local brewpub. (476 characters)

Cloudy hazy pale yellow color, with a small white head that doesn't stick around. Light banana-clove aroma, light wheaty, yeasty flavors, very light in body, somewhat watery mouthfeel, finishes too sweet, bland and uninteresting, not very much going on here. (258 characters)

Poured from a brown 500 ml bottle. Beer is hazy straw in appearance with a nice thick head which disappears. Not much of an aroma to it, just a pinch of apple smell to it. Light in the flavor category like most hefe's, it has a just slight malty after taste. This is a drinkable beer, wouldn't beer my first choice though. (322 characters)

Appearance in this weizen fits the bill to a T, with a hazy, pale, straw-yellow color, and a thick, fluffy, cloud-like head of foam.
Aroma is likewise on the mark for a typical hefe, lemony and sweet, but with a little bit of citric sour, as well.
On meeting the lips, this beer is remarkably smooth, with a nice texture, and a light body. Extraordinarily drinkable, but utterly lacking in any complexity or nuance. A simple, pleasing, nice little ale, with continual contributions of flavor. Not bad at all, by no means, but lacking anything in it to rise above the ordinary. As hefe weizens go, it's an adequate sample, and goes down nice, and refreshing. Thanks to JohnnyDuvel for providing this 500ml bottle. (714 characters)

At last I have found a German Wheat beer that tastes like an old bottle of warm Bud. This beer was not even worth finishing. I have been drinking, with an almost obssesion wheat beers this summer, and after finding my favorite just a few days back-the Weihenstephaner Hefe-I have now hit the very bottom. This beer smells and tastes skunky and remarkably like a warm macro brew, with vague nuances of mega concert bathroom urinal in the nose. The taste is faintly of rotting banana peel and over the hill spice. The finish is unpleasant, and if I had not accidently froze my Weihenstephaner, i'd be garggleing with it now. However, I happen to have a steigl pils that might do the job! I searched for an outdate on this beer and found 09-07. A best before strip on the side of the bottle was not marked. Also, I bought this at a place where beer is stored correctly, and one that moves beer. I may have gotten a bad bottle, but I'm not willing to try this one again unless it's free and i have a spit bucket at hand. (1,015 characters)
