A- pours a cloudy golden straw color with a large frothy head. Leaves a nice lacing down the glass.

S- mild fruity sweetness with a hint of bubblegum. Some citrus with a note of banana.

T- Wheat, a little yeasty. On the sweet side but not really fruity. Flavor lacks yeasty tanginess.

M- smooth but body is on the light side.

D- A decent brew but I've had better Hef's.

Sampled on tap at Shakespeare's Pub in Sarasota, FL.

A - Straw color with lots of haze and a thick white head. Some lacing.

S - Lemony with cloves and banana.

T - Lemony with banana and nice wheat notes. A bit tart in the finish.

M - Good consistency and moderate carbonation. Just right.

D - Not overly flavorful but interesting and enjoyable. Great for a warm, sunny day.

This pours a hazy pale golden with a dense head. Very obvious high carbonation in the glass.

I found it very hard to get much aroma out of this at all. Maybe a little wheat and banana in there. Quite dumb.

Again the wheatiness comes through and the banana is a bit more evident. A bit of sweetness. A bit of a hole in there though.

Nice mouth feel. Very smooth.

Very drinkable due to its easy mouth feel but not a great beer to ponder.

Drinkability - a very easy drinking beer that is smooth and creamy. I'd have another if there were no better wheat beers available. However, this is not my favorite since the banana, clove and bubblegum tones are too mild for my preference. A good thirst quencher.

Appearance - nice pale cloudy straw gold. Good carbonation provides a creamy head with decent retention. A good looking wheat beer to start but no lacing as the beer shrinks in my weizen glass.

Smell - mild sweet and sour tones. Yeasty banana bread comes through lightly as it starts to warm up. It doesn't seem to have the noticeable ester aromas expected from a hefeweizen. Nothing wrong here but nothing outstanding either. Somewhat neutral.

Taste - a bit thin and similar to what you smell. The beer is balanced but lacks any specific dominance of character for the style. Some citrus, banana and pear. The finish has a slight paper-like cardboard flavour.

Mouthfeel - a medium body beer that is creamy and a bit chewy. Nice carbonation and a slightly sticky finish.

Poured from a .5L in to an Erdinger weizen glass. A hazy golden color with a frothy white head that stood about 3 fingers tall. The head dissipated at an average rate to leave a nice ring around the edge and some cloudiness on the top. Leaves a decent lacing.

Smell is strong cloves, a little bread, and very little banana.

Taste is cloves and bread, the little bit of banana from the nose sneaks in at the end but cloves and bread dominate. This is not as sweet as other hefeweizens and that's partly why I enjoy it so much.

Mouthfeel is clean and crisp, with a light body. Sharp carbonation but not a whole lot of it. Drinkability is going to depend on if you enjoy the spiciness of the cloves, if you can it is great, if you can't it may be hard to swallow.

Pours a clear golden yellow color with lots of visible carbonation bubbles and a thin foamy white head that quickly dissapears. Aroma is quite bland with slight apple presence as well as some lemon peel. Very quaffable with a crisp apple and pear taste as well as some slight citrus.

My guess is that this is the "Pyramid" of Germany when it comes to beer, you know, bigger micro that always sounds like it should be great but always disappoints. Pours hazy gold with a decent head. Lemony aroma with some yeast. Taste was pretty flat, some wheat, some citrus, but really watery. Get something else.

(Poured into hefeweizen glass)

Appearance - 3 finger white head, somewhat unstable but leaving nice lacing. Pale hazy orange color. Light carbonation.

Smell - Pretty weak smell. Some yeast and banana.

Taste - Again yeast and banana, but not as crisp as other weizenbiers. Some sweetness. Overall, rather weak in taste. No bitterness at all.

Mouthfeel - Rather watery, not quite the creamy experience that a weizenbier should be in my opinion.

Drinkability - Easy to drink, but not particularly special.

Got this at the bottle shop down the road.

Poured into my weizen glass.

APPEARANCE: Golden orange in colour, and clearer than most weizens. White head is quite thin looking and fades quickly to a relatively thick head. A very large amount of carbonation is evident. Bubbles flying up to the top all over the place. This is by far the most carbonation I've ever seen in a weizen. The thick head is relatively persistent, but eventually disappears. Decent lacing down the sides.

SMELL: Wheat malt mostly. A slight banana and lemon undertone in the background as well. The malt nose is mild and nice, but not as crisp as some others.

TASTE: This is kind of a disappointment. There's some wheat malt initially, but little else. There is a slight bit of dough or sour bread, but not much. The aftertaste, however, is overly strong. The bready aftertaste lingers too long and is overpowering. Makes it difficult to drink.

PALATE: This is also odd. Thin bodied and way too much carbonation for the style. It's got a slight bite at the end and goes down a little rough as well. Finishes slightly sticky.

OVERALL: Disappointing really. Even more disappointing since it's so readily availible here in Holland. Not a favourite. The bready aftertaste made it difficult to enjoy, and palate was just too weak and bubbly for my liking. I basically dumped that last quarter of it or so. Basically undrinkable if you ask me, or at least un-enjoyable. Not something I'll want to drink again.

A: Poured a pale, hazy lemony-light orange color with a big white fluffy head.

S: The nose yielded faint bananas, lemons and light traces of dried fruit and grains.

T: The nose was rather subtle overall and not really enticing. For flavor there was light bananas, cloves and wheat. There was decent breadiness, with a really good hop spiciness found of the finish, which was good, but not enough to save this.

M: really thin, with a light creaminess, light carbonation while finishing dry.

D: An ordinary drinking hefe, with a nice spicy finish which was one of the few highlights of this beer. ok, but rather boring.

A- Pours a nice golden/yellow body, typical of wheat beers. Has a very nice, foamy head. Unfortunately, i think the appearance of the beer is its strongest characterstic.

S- Does not have the aromas that you would expect from a wheat beer. It has a fairy weak smell. I can only really note some hoppiness.

T- The taste isn't bad, but there isn't a lot going on. I get a little bit of banana, and a slight sweetness on the finish. But the flavors that I expect from a wheat beer aren't there. For me this was rather disappointing because I really enjoy those typical wheat beer flavors.

M- Fairly thin, with a touch of creaminess.

D- One could easily drink a few of these. Because of the lack of bold flavors, they can go down pretty easily.

Overall, if you want to have a more subtle version of a wheat beer it's worth buying. But, if you're like me and enjoy the normal flavors associated with a wheat beer, this one probably isn't for you.

poored with a slow easy poor still got half a glass of head that retained to the point where i felt if the glass suddenly broke the head just would of hung out anyway, lots of bubbles but doesn't taste over carbonated.

Classic Hefe coloring.

Actually tastes "thin" or "weak" which isn't a bad thing but makes it very easy to drink I'd take a bottle of this over some bottled water any day. Very light banana taste with a small hint of cloves, better banana after taste. Would be a wonderful hot summer day refresher.
Taste improved with allowing the beer to warm to the room slightly.

"The World's #1 Hefe-Weizen" according to the bottle label. Hmmm....I have yet to try this until tonight, but I have to say I've had a number of good wheat ales, so Erdinger has some company. Spoiler Alert: a Swede I bar-hopped with in Boston many months ago said he didn't like Erdinger, but loves Franziskaner. 330 ml bottle from the Wine Exchange on to the beer:

The head is soapy and has solid retention on top this hazy pale blonde (almost straw color) body. Notice I didn't say cloudy there. I can see the carbonation bubbles clearly in this beer. There's something in the aroma, weak banana and clove. You have to inhale deeply or you'll never get it. taste....the malted wheat really comes out, toasty, but that's all I'm getting. No banana, no clove, no phenols. This is an authentic Bavarian weissbier....where are those flavors? It's not a bad flavor, but a monotone one. The carbonation is a bit too springy here, the body is light.

I have to agree with my Swedish buddy, this is nothing to shout about. Nothing bad here, just a blah example of a weissbier.

12 oz. bottle into a clear plastic pint glass.

A- I poured this like an idiot and ended up with about 1/2 glass of head. I usually don't pour aggressively enough so I tried to make up for it and went way too far. So, the head I got was a huge, white and fluffy. The color is a hazy yellow-orange, definitely looks like a wheat beer.
S- Very mild aroma coming off of this beer. I smell some wheat malt and a little bit of lemon.
T- Follows the smell in that it is fairly mild. I taste the wheat malt, some lemon/citrus, and a small amount of very subdued hoppy bitterness.
M- Actually one of the beer's strong points, it was medium bodied and creamy.
D- You could put as many of these away as you wanted too. Personally I would probably be pretty bored with it after 2 or 3 though.
Overall, a pretty decent Hefeweizen, but I will probably not buy again.

Appearance- It has a nice straw golden yellow body. It has frothy slightly off white head.

Smell- Pretty plain and not much aroma to speak of which I thought was odd for Bavarian beer.

Taste- It has a very nice but even hoppy taste for a beer of this style. It has very nice wheat tones. Fruity and banana like. The one thing I did not get was the aftertaste. It had like an odd paint like feeling to it.

Mouthfeel- Medium bodied with some fizz.

Drinkability- Not my favorite but real good.

Poured into my Paulaner glass. 16.9 oz. bottle

Appearance: Cloudy orange/gold with a nice frothy head that retains for quite some time. Looks inviting.

Aroma: Mild. Very mild, actually. I can get the yeast, the cloves, and the banana, slightly. Maybe a little lemon too. But overall this beer isn't too overpowering in the aroma. Its very understated actually.

Taste: Subtle. Follows the aroma. Mild wheat, cloves and banana. A little sweetness to finish.

Mouthfeel: Kind of thin, sort of creamy but not too much. Subtlety is fine, but this thing is just so weak.

Drinkability: Well, it certainly is drinkable. Its got that major characteristic of a wheat beer.

Overall, not the greatest example of a wheat beer, to me. Feels like I'm drinking a hefe diluted with water. Its really not too bad, but there are much better hefeweizens in the same price range.

This pours a nice cloudy orange gold and has a really nice head floating atop. This drops away quickly to a meringue size head. But your not supposed to stare at it- you drink it.

There is a noticeable lack of sweetness here and also a lack of tang. This makes the mouthfeel not as full as could be, but the bitterness adds to the refreshment. The aftertaste is of apple pie with no sugar in it at all. Like a sugarless apple tart. bready;

but some how you are beckoned in to have one more sip over and over until you are singing german folk songs and crying out for bratwurst.

Yellow, fizzy beer with dissapating head. Not too appealing, a few steps up from Coors Light. Weak aroma of slight spice, wheat, and citrus that falls short of other hefe weiss beers. Vague carbonation and light bodied balanced with weak lemon flavor, wheat characteristics and a hint of vanilla. Overall, a disappointing wheat beer that can be skipped.

Miller Lite meets wheat? Tad of lemon zeal; mostly light grain water...perfect for beer pong. Not much goin on. Bland, well balance of nothing. Tastes like mass produced pilsner with a couple shots in the dark that land on typical, mediocre wheat beer. Nothing special. Bust out the cups and quarters, were drinking not apreciating.

Got this on-tap at Brewhouse Cafe in Atlanta.

Pours a cloudy lemon color with a half-finger white head that dissipates into a wispy layer of bubbles on top and a thick foamy ring around the glass. This beer sheets nicely but the lacing doesn't stick around very long.

Smells kind of like nothing. The only thing I can distinguish is a very light banana aroma.

Tastes pretty good. A lot of light fruit, including bananas, and some bubblegum flavor. It's also just a little spicy at the end.

Mouthfeel is very nice. It's got a great thickness and the carbonation is subtle yet gets the job done. Goes down very smoothly.

Drinkability is pretty good. I could have a few of these, but there are many other beers from this style that I would go for first.

Overall this is an average beer with an above average smoothness. Worth a shot.

16.9 oz. bottle,

A: Pours a hazy yellow with a solid white head for the style, average head retention, no lacing.

S: Smell is very light, hints of clove mostly, spicy.

T: Banana esters and some mild green apple form the flavour, clovely finish. Overall flavour is understated and not very complex.

M: Mild carbonation for the style, light-bodied with a watery finish, medium aftertaste, clean.

D: An average weissebier, does not have the complex esters ala Schneider or Hacker-Pschorr. No problem getting it down, but becomes boring.

A cloudy golden brew into my weiss glass. A decent head that thins to a light covering. No lacing. Carbonation is mild.

Smell is banana and light lemon. A spicy note that is bound to to a clove aroma. Mild wheat malt and bready yeast.

Taste is subtle. Mild lemon and wheat malt. Banana and fruit esters combine to bring a table for light clove to sit atop. Super mild hops with gentle slow finish. Light crackers and biscuits linger. Dry and clean in the end

Mouthfeel is smooth and light. Light frothy coating on the mouth is sweet and inviting.

Drinkability is good. A fine sessioning beer. Easy to drink low abv, quenching in nature.

I was a bit disappointed with this one. Hazy yellow color with a big fluffy white head. Aroma is grassy and malty with only a slight hint of fruit. The flavor is somewhat bland with some spice, grassy and malty. Bottle is labeled as a hefeweizen but is seems more like a cross between a hefe and a lager to me.

500ml bottle

The brew pours a hazy, pale yellow color, beautifully speckled with lots of big rising carbonation, and a large, spongy white head. The nose is almost medicinal, lots of lemon (zest), spicy wheat and some hop presence. While tasting, an almost sweet wheat texture takes over which is slightly coating, mid palate becomes more spicy, some citrus fruit notes and hop bitterness as well as a tasty and bright banana note and the slightest hint of alcohol. The beer has very active carbonation and sports a light+ body. Very good drinkability.
