-Pours cloudy yellow-golden with a big fluffy eggshell-colooured head
-Medium head retension for a Hef
-very high carbonation visible
-very grassy and spicy (Coriander more than clove)
-bananas and honey
Follows the nose plus bubble gum a reduced Banana flavour with a slight bitter grassy finish
light-medium body with medium-high carbonation
Erdinger is not your typical Hefeweizen.Its very much noble hop forward instead of Banana-clove forward.
Generally though,i find it doesnt quite match good hefeweizens esp. in terms of flavour.

Picked this beer up in a 6 pack at a local store. Seriously disappointed, is this really a German Wheat beer? I can't taste any defining flavor whatsoever. I'll surely not buy this one again anytime soon.

A: hazy, but not cloudy; 1 finger white head that receded to a thin collar; no lacing;

S: more banana than clove, but not a lot of either;

T: dough; biscuit; no phenolics at all; more pilsner malt flavor than anything;

M: light to medium bodied; highly carbonated; very fine carbonation;

O: flavor was lacking for the style;

A - Pours a hazy gold with a two-finger foamy white head. Lots of spotty lacing.

S - Faint aromas of clove, banana, and grass.

T - The taste follows the aroma. Clove, banana, sweet malts, grass, with a light lemony finish.

M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Very crisp mouthfeel with a dry finish.

O - This is a nice Hefeweizen and a good example of the style. This is simply a nice and refreshing beer.

Veiled, between straw and gold color with a peach hue. White extra foamy 3 finger head that dies in 4 minutes. Lots of activity and thick lacing.

Faint aroma of citrus with a metallic smell.
Faint flavors of grains and lemony bitterness.

Slick but quite light with ample carbonation. Short and faint finish.

Overall: the taste is too thin and subtle, missing some body and a thicker finish compared to other wheat beers.

L: Looks very nice, cloudy light colored beer with a super nice head.
S: Smells good, hints of clove and banana, some pepper, a little bit of alcohol smell.
T: The taste is very nice, very sutil malt taste with low bitterness and hints of fruits and spices.
F: Medium body, medium carbonation, good example of a weissbier.
O: Good beer for a summer day, great to pair with a nice steak.

Serving Type: 500 mL Bottle

A- Pours a hazy (unfiltered, I assume) golden straw colour that is topped by a 2 1/2 finger lumpy white head. What a great looking beer. Typical of a well made Weissbier.

S- The aroma of this beer is quite grassy (maybe thats the wheat talking) with a slight citrus edge. Not extremely exciting but quite pleasing nonetheless. This Weissbier has the type of aroma that invites you to take a big gulp.

T- Much like the smell, the taste of this beer is dominated by grassy notes that is finished with a slight citrus note (perhaps lemon). Not complex at all but extremely refreshing.

M- Medium carbonation. Body is medium. Great match for this beer. Not thin like water and no aggressive carbonation here.

O- Overall, Erdinger Weissbier is a fine example of the style. As Erdinger states on the bottle, this is the "worlds most popular wheat beer" and I can certainly understand why. Erdinger Weissbier is a great looking beer, it smells great, has a pleasant taste, and is extremely easy to drink. I recommend this beer to everyone.

Hazy straw color with an aggressive white frothy head.

Smells lemony, grassy, and musty.

Lemon peel, wheat, grass, ever so light clove.

Crisp and light, heavily carbonated.

An easy drinking, if not average hefe.

Enjoyed from the bottle in a pint glass, this solid hefe pours a hazy amber yellow with a moderate head with little retention and light clinging lacing. Nose of light banana, light clove, and sweet wheat malts. Flavors are lightly acidic wheat to the fore with banana and clove lightly coming in on the back with a lightly acidic aftertaste. Smooth creamy mouth feel and wet acidic aftertaste. Not the best of the Germans, but not bad and very sessionable.

Drank on tap in Berlin and took a few bottled ones home. Both were great, even though I'd still prefer the on-tap one (perhaps it's because of the great memories). All-round great Weissbier.

Served cool from 500ml bottle into Weiss bier glass.

A) First thing to notice is the massive white bubbly head. Hazy urine-straw colour. Looks like a good Weiss bier.

S) Weaker than some of the other examples of the style, but light clove notes are evident.

T) Very weak flavour for a weisse. Slightly sweet, giving the impression that the wort is not fully fermented. The essential clove / banana flavour characteristic of the style is barely present.

M) Refreshing and quite fizzy. No nasty aftertastes.

O) Poor example of the style; try Paulaner, Schneider Weisse, Weihenstephaner or Ayinger instead.

Pours a golden slightly cloudy color. Not as cloudy as other hefe's I have had. Aroma is nice, wheaty and slightly malty. Taste is ok with a little bite up front, some wheat and malt in the middle and a slightly bitter and dry finish. I've had better. Probably be just as happy with a Michelob Light, sorry!!

Erdinger Weissbier is one of the Bavaria's weakest weissbiers. The appearance isn't as cloudy as other weissbiers and you can actually see through the beer which is a big strike in weissbier. The upfront taste is heavy with fruit & clove which aren't as strong as other weissbiers and the backend taste finishes a touch dry and bitter. Definitely leans more towards the bitter side and at times hints at a pilsner flavor. I rarely if ever drink or buy this. And now that Erdinger has come out with the superior Urweisse which is much better than the normal Weisse, there's really no reason to drink this anymore.

A – Light golden colour with some haze and a huge head.
S – The smell is mild and fruity with a slight hint of earth or sand. Some citrus and banana.
T – Follows the nose but this one is very mild and the flavours are hard to detect.
MF – It is a bubbling beer so it tingles on the tongue with carbon effervescence
O – Little to no after taste this one leaves you very quickly very drinkable but in this case that does not mean very enjoyable.

I'm editing or updating my review here as I previously had this one bottled and from a pint glass.
I now have had this from a Stein at Oktoberfest and the taste was very different.
This time around the smell of peach and apricot was very noticeable on top of the sand and banana from before. There was also some great sour apple smells to boot. The colour was more hazy, straw like even with a huge head of tight foam and lashings of lace.
The taste was also deeper and more pronounced. There was good peach sweetness and banana flavour with a deep sour undercurrent running through the whole experience. I previously gave this a 3 but it now I have to give it more as it clearly deserved it!!

Review according to BJCP2008 (style 15A). Bottle 50 cl - Batch L131303. AROMA: faint phenols (vanilla, banana) with some wheat in the background. no hop aromas. APPEARANCE: golden color and hazy. moussy white head with good retention. TASTE: watered down wheat flavour with some phenols (clove). no hop flavour. PALATE: medium-light body with low carbonation. OVERALL: a bulk weissbier a bit watered down.

Erdinger is the first wheat beer I ever had. Great look and smell. Amazing taste... and thats really what matters. My favourite wheat beer besides Weihenstephaner, obviously.

I had a 500ml can of this directly after a 500 ml can of Paulaner Hefe Weissbier and there's almost no comparison. The Paulaner kicks this bier's ass up and down the high street. It's not even in the same league. That's not to say this isn't a decent beer. It is. It's just nowhere near as satisfying as the Paulaner (or Hoegaarden, for that matter).

Anyway, on the beer itself:

The head was gone almost immediately, leaving a somewhat tepid ghost of other weissbiers. The taste of the beer itself is actually pretty decent, it just isn't as full, tasty or satisfying as something like a Paulaner or Hoegaarden.

Cloudy orange color with a bubbly thin head. Very pleasant smell without anything overbearing. Not a ton of things happening but a very crisp taste with a definite banand and orange taste. Mouthfeel very pleasant and very easy drinking. Very difficult to detect any alcohol. Little biscuit or malt taste. Refreshing and pleasant beer.

4's all around. my very first German beer and one I have a special liking to. may not be the highest rated on BA but damn do I love it. I remember drinking this at a small pub in Munich. one of my favorite beer drinking experiences. Germany, Belgium and the Czechs get it right.

Picked this up in Atlantic Beach. Not really a fan of this style, but had to give it a try. It had a great golden look, but it didn't have a great taste to match. However, I believe this would make a great dinner beer. Especially for the bargain prices you get here

Had on tap at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. Was very fresh and flavorful. This was an elegant version of the style and hit all the right notes, but in a smoother and more mild way.

Worth revisiting.

Picked this up as part of a group to get to a 10% discount, I like Hefe style so figured this was worth trying at that price. Good looking beer that is only okay to the nose. Very good taste, good Hefe. Overall a decent Hefe but not what I would consider special, but certainly enjoyable.

(best by end 06-2014 - poured into an Innis & Gunn fluted goblet)

A: appropriately cloudy after initially pouring out alarmingly bright... light, nectarine skin, yellow-amber... pretty, silky sheen to the moderately-compact foam - seems like it wanted to hold, at first, but it soon falls flat then almost vanishes entirely

S: smells like wheat malt, maybe a smidge of clove ester... mild fog of citrus peel, no notable banana... almost a pilsner-like grain and mild hop note... not terribly bready or yeasty

T: more doughy flavors straight off the bat, bit of a staling roll crust finish... bit of that yeasty dough with a hint of it turning over tangy in the aftertaste... big wheat malt flavor in the aftertaste as well - I'll chew on some kernels from the half-sack I keep for homebrew in my kitchen, and the lingering taste in this beer is that glutenous, mildly chalky note I get when I'm chewing and chewing and the junk won't break down - it's like gum - speaking of which, there's a faint background hint of that as well

M: on the thinner side, but not exactly light-bodied... upper part of the flow has a delicate sudsy wash, bigger bubbles it seems... bit compact, gummy almost, with absence of a firm, spritzy carbonation

O: this may very well be on its last legs... was fridge-kept for months prior... overall, not bad - don't think i would go and buy and couple cases and let them sit around for months... likely a bit livelier in a fresher state, perhaps a brighter display of the esters

06/17/14 Congrats, you've made an excellent choice. Thick, rich creamy head speckled lacing, mild aroma & serious texture almost chewable. Not what one might expect or desire in a Heff, but as a whole, it really, really good.

12/24/13 On tap. Very, very nice. This is one great beer. Soooo smooth. Unctuous comes to mind. Despite the fact Weiss biers are usually best suited for warmer weather this really hit the spot. So well balanced in an overall sense it's hard to describe what sets it apart. I guess all that's left is to say it hits all the marks, spot on. I'm drinking my second & there are 40 taps here. That should count for something.

50cl bottle (04-2014) into a weizen. Hazy pale golden color, three finger head that settled to one finger pretty quickly leaving some lacing. Typically beautiful hefeweizen. Faint wheaty smell with some banana. Taste has some yeast, banana and a note of spice. Thin body, medium carbonation and a bit watery mouthfeel.

Decided to drink this one today after having a belgian tripel, leaving this one tasting quite bland and watery, my bad. I've had this one before on a hot summer day's boat cruise on the river Mosel, where it tasted wonderful. It's not bad, but not the best hefeweizen I've had. Very drinkable and good with bratwurst.
