ERDINGER Pikantus is already a legend during the “strong beer season”. But with its complex symphony of aromas, it also stimulates the taste buds – making it a perfect aperitif.

With an ABV of 7.3% and an original wort of 16.7°P, this bock beer is ERDINGER Weissbräu’s strongest contender.

For a true Bavarian aperitif, divide a bottle of ERDINGER Pikantus between two connoisseur glasses – with its dark color and smooth creamy head, Pikantus is already a feast for the eyes. The flavor that develops on the palate is well-rounded and malty with a hint of nutmeg and fine nougat. The sparkling nature of ERDINGER Pikantus harmonizes perfectly with its slightly sweet character, as well as its soft and delicate finish.

Poured a 500ml bottle into a tulip. A two finger fine tan head on a cloudy brown. Good head retention.
Toasted malt smells. Coffee.
Chocolate. Coffee towards the end. A very mild hop finish.
Medium body and carbonation, Creamy texture.
Overall very smooth and well balanced. An excellent Weizenbock.

Poured from a 500ml bottle.

L - Crystal clear beer with a dark brown color and ruby highlights when held up to the light. Head is a light tan color, pours tall and is moderately persistent.

S - Delicious aromas of bready malt, wheat dinner rolls and light chocolate. Maybe some herbal and woody hops at a very low level.

T - Classic flavors for a German weizenbock: bready malt, chocolate and herbal hops. Maybe a hint of clove from the yeast.

F - Medium body and strong, spritzy carbonation. Moderate hops bitterness holds back the malt sweetness. Moderate alcohol presence feels about right for the ABV.

O - This is a great example of this style; delicious and well worth seeking out.

It’s just not a good beer. Like J-Lo as a singer, like J-Lo as an actress…it’s just not good. Still, like J-Lo, it’s Erdinger - so they still get play in the press. Again, J-Lo isn’t horrible in any way. I mean, pop out of Raul’s birthday cake she can. But is she my first choice? Well, should I even ask?

Let’s go before we get kicked out.

My choice to accompany Thanksgiving dinner. Worked very nicely!!! Poured from a 500 ml bottle into my Aventinus Weizen glass, this beer has a rich mahogany color with a bubbly tan head. Head retention is about average and there is some lacing on the glass. Aroma and taste feature rich bready malt, some yeast and a little dark fruit and banana. Nice flavor pairs well with food. Mouthfeel is rich and smooth, no hint of the alcohol. Very enjoyable!!!!

500ml bottle from Dad Alpenhaus. Dark brown pour, tight beige head with good retention. Yeasty, malty aroma, dark bread, nutty. Taste is sweet, banana, pumpernickel and yeasty. Slick and smooth with a sturdy body.

Pours a clear dark amber, some visible carb, 1" tan head that mostly holds together, moderate lacing. Nose is big red apples and apple cider, raisins, with lighter notes of toffee, caramel, and lemon peel. Taste is rather sweet - raisins, prunes, plums, brown bread, chocolate; profile is very similar to a kvass, just with a fuller body. Mouthfeel starts a bit thin and prickly, but as it opens up and the carbonation dies down, it becomes fuller and creamier. A little one-note in terms of the flavor profile, but overall solid.
