Pours a big foamy head on a cloudy straw body.
The aroma is muted lemon and earthy. Nice.
The taste starts with mild lemon bitter, watery, a little spice and finishes with a mild lemon bitterness.
The texture is crisp and fizzy.
It doesn't have a lot of flavor but not bad.

It's tough to rate this bier because I'm drinking it directly after having a bottle of Kuchlbauer Weisse and the Kuchlbauer Weisse is just better! Without the comparison, this is a solid weissbier that's actually edging towards a dunkel in taste and colour. With the comparison, it has a creaminness the Kuchlbauer doesn't have but much less taste. If I had the choice on a hot day, I'd be drinking the Kuchlbauer Weisse. Given that I'm drinking in Autumn, though, and this is a thicker brew, I'd be pretty content knocking a few more of these back and enjoy myself doing it. The best way to describe the beer is to say it's got the body of the Weihenstephaner but without the intense flavours! Well worth drinking, nonetheless!

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 15A). Bottle 50 cl - Batch L211107. AROMA: wheat malt profile dominates. low to no esters (bubblegum and banana). some yeast aroma. APPEARANCE: light amber color and hazy. slight ivory average head with good retention. FLAVOR: strong wheat profile with some bready yeast notes. none to very faint esters or phenols. PALATE: medium-light body and high carbonation. OVERALL: a weizen that lacks the traditional aromas of banana and vanilla.

50 cl bottle (bb 04-2015) into a weizen. Hazy deep golden color, three finger white foam head that settled down pretty quickly, very little lacing, constant bubbling. Wheat and banana on the nose. Sweet first taste is followed by a taste of tart wheat with some spice and a note of banana. Dry, wheaty and a little watery aftertaste that lasts for some time. Fresh taste. Medium mouthfeel, stingy carbonation, a little bit more carbonated than the weizens i've had. Overall a good, light, weizen with some taste in it. Would suit a hot day very well, even though i've had better.

500ml bottle served in a Weizen glass.

A: Pour a nice orange hazy color forming a traditional big and creamy weissbier white head. Good retention and lots of lacings formed and left in the glass

S: Sweet and fruity. Strong notes of sweet malts and wheat. Traditional notes of banana esters and clove. Bready and a bit earthy. Very light notes of flowery hops

T: Slightly sweet start. Notes of sweet malts, wheat, banana and clove. Very bready taste. Maybe a bit too mild taste of malts

M: Very smooth and creamy nevertheless, light body. Medium carbonation. Bready aftertaste

O: Great drinkability. Easydrinking as a German Weissbier has to be. Practically no bitterness (as expected). Good

Best by March 2014

Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow color with a huge white bubbly head, fades at a decent rate but takes awhile because of the amount, oddly no lacing whatsoever though.

Smell has a bit of a weird yeasty funk to it, slight hint of grassiness and clove.

Taste is definitely heavy handed on the yeast front with a bit of an off flavor, reminds me of drinking an unfiltered wheat beer but that every sip is part of the dregs, clove adds some spiciness to the mix to help distract, carbonation is medium-high but closer to the medium range, finishes quite dry.

500ml bottle. Weizen glass. Bright brass color, foggy appearance. Close, sticky, lasting, white in color crown. Intense banana, fresh yeast & bread aromas. Crispy upfront, malty & biscuit flavors. Light to medium body. Moderate but lively carbonation. Unctuous mouthfeel. Bread, banana flavors, spiced hues & phenolic touch. Low bitterness & subtle spicy notes. Long sweet finish & fruity aftertaste. Delicious & refreshing!!

A - Deep orange colour with a small bit of lacing on top.

S - Wheat, bread and a hint of cloves.

T - A more intense white beer. Strong, yeasty with clove flavour coming through but balanced with sweetness.

M - Pretty watery with a slight fizz. Decent but nothing special here.

O - More interesting that the normal Erdinger and most White beers out there. A great beer but perhaps not reaching the same heights as other beers ive tried.

Poured into a chalice. $3.79 for 16.9 oz. Best before Aug 2014.

A heavier hefe. Can you have too much clove in the aroma? 3.75

A – Pours a cloudy pale orange with a three-finger off-white dense head. Good carbonation. Decent lacing. 3.75

S – Wheaty, citrusy, banana and big cloves. 4.25

T – Wheat bread, slightly peppery, some citrus, ever so slightly tart, more malty than most hefes. 3.75

MF – A little sharp, medium-dry, medium bodied. 3.5

A- Great looking straw colored beer with long lasting off white head.
S- Smells distinctly of brewing spices; coriander?
T- Sweet, even for a Weizen; strong, but pleasant, slightly citrusy.
M- A bit harsh and acidic, relatively high carbonation on the tongue.
O- Decent, sessionable beer with a very pleasant taste that breaks the traditional weizen mold.

On-tap at a local Oktoberfest celebration. Served in an Erdinger plastic pint glass.

A- foamy, tan head starts at 1-1/2 fingers, has awesome retention, and leaves great stick. Hazy orange body.

S- lemon, bananas, clove. Mostly lemon.

T- tons of banana, some lemon, lighter cloves. Robust.

M- creamy. Light carbonation.

O- very flavorful, so much so I was wondering if it was an amped-up/imperial version at points. Tons of banana. I would have drank this all afternoon given the chance. Great for the Fest in unusually warm, fall weather. Refreshing.

Bought in a five beer gift pack with an Erdinger weissbier vase.

Poured from the 16.9 oz. bottle into an Innis & Gunn flute.

a: Translucent deep gold, formed an enormous and stubborn white head.

s: Slight fruit note..

t: Belgian yeast fruit flavor. Blindfolded, I would think it was an exceptionally good Belgian wheat beer.

m: Light to medium with good body.

o: Very refreshing, excellent Belgian-like flavor with none of the sourness such can impart. Extremely sessionable! I would definitely buy this again.

A: A light yellow-y-orange and a bit opaque body with a thick big head.
S: Yeasty and lots of bananas.
T: Lots of wheat, banana and vanilla.
M: Good carbonation, smooth, light-bodied, highly drinkable.
O: Much better than the original Erdinger and actually, but it's not the best Erdinger I've had, that prize goes to Erdinger Dunkel. Possibly, it was the first Hefe I've had. Generally speaking, nice beer.

Erdinger Urweiser

A- AMAZINGLY THICK HEAD. The first thing I noticed. I poured carefully, and yet the foam is incredible! 2 inched thick and going strong. The retention is unreal- I could have put a penny on the head and it would have held. Light amber color, slightly cloudy.

S- Mmmm Smells so tropical! This is another beer that reminds me of Trix cereal—wheat and bready yeast, along with the fruit on the nose.

T- Definitely German. Banana and yeast are the prominent tastes, along with clove and coriander. My first taste was as fruity as the nose suggested, but as I sipped on this beer I was struck by how well it fit the hefeweisen profile. Very true to style beer. Not my favorite, but very well made.

Best before 3/2014.

Pours a hazy orange with a foamy orange-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, wheat, spice, and yeast aromas. Taste is much the same with banana and yeast flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and somewhat medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

Hazy golden orange color. Lots and lots of thick head with long retention and bubbles that keep going up from the bottom of the glass. Some particles floating.
Yeasty aroma of citrus, clove and wheat. Banana is more distant here.
Wheat bready and fruity flavor, more towards citrus than banana. Just a bit of pepper with a zesty feeling. Mildy dry aftertaste inducing you for more.
Light body with good carbonation.
Quite refreshing. I found it more interesting than the others Erdingers, except the Pikantus.

Big head on orange golden beer, steady carbonation.
Smell is decent enough. Banana, a lot of bread and biscuit. A bit of floral scent.
Taste is fine. It's malty, mainly sweet. Smooth and easy drinkable.
Overall it's a fine beer. It could do with a bit more powerfull taste, and some more carbonation as well, similar to the Erdinger regular Weisse, but this one also will do fine.

-pours a modest head that quickly recedes
-the smell and taste of this hefe are perfect
-modest hop aroma leaves room for the bready/yeasty/banana aroma to come through
-I get a little bit of spice in the aroma as well
-tastes just like a Bavarian Hefeweizen should: banana/clove in good balance, absolutely no undesirable esters, very clean finish that makes me want to never stop drinking this beer
-I'm sure there are some folks that won't like this beer because it comes from a macro, but I think it may be one of the best hefeweizens available

A great beer. I recently met through referral from a friend. Here in Brazil leaves an average of $ 9. A little expensive but worth the investment. Highly refreshing, especially with the weather here in Brasilia (Brazil), around 30 º. Great color and amber foam that does not hold much to the cup and a very smooth taste.

Pours a cloudy yellow orange with a large white head that doesn't last too long.

Smell starts out sweet, citrus fruit, banana, pepper.

Starts out a bit citrus like, mainly lemon. There is a hint of banana and clove at the back end.

Goes down nice, there is a lot of carbonation.

Definitely a nice beer, tastes best when not too cold. Has a lot of flavor, and goes down easy on a hot summer day.

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color and has a high amount of visible carbonation. It poured into a weizen glass with a two finger high white head that died down but consistently left a half finger high head covering the surface.
S: There are light to moderate aromas of bananas and wheat in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of wheat along with notes of bananas. The bananas become a bit stronger as the beer warms up.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate to high amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very easy to drink, refreshing and has some thirst-quenching properties. Its good drinkability and lack of clove flavors could make this a good entry-level hefeweizen for novice craft beer drinkers.

Poured from the bottle into a wheat ale glass, and later a little roll.

A real nice orange and bronze amber glow, unfiltered and opaque body with a real nice creamy top. Manages a collar and cant see much carbonation rising.

Nose is real nice. Classic wheat and hefeweizen yeast esters, but a real great orange fruit sense. Nice chewy malt. Smells great!

Taste seems to be a bit of a letdown. Orange soda, and tight carbonation but none of the wheat density on the palate. Beer like malt presnce hardly detectible, and not even much banana sense either (no complaints) but it doesn't taste like a hefe.

Overall, not a bad beer, but pretty ordinary for the style, and it's too much like soda.

Served in a tapered weizen mug.

Huge pillowy head, lasting head retention that never breaks on the surface. Murky saturated orange color, fairly opaque once the yeast is swirled in.

Light banana and orange creamsicle aromas that carry into the flavor. Lightly wheaty on the back end, slightly dry in the finish and not too sweet. Clean and flavorful. Unfiltered and yeasty. Medium bodied and pretty quenching in the summer heat, drinkability is high. Better than the standard Erdinger Weizen from what I remember.

This beer has a hazy light orange body with a yellow hue. It has a lot of off-white foam to the head and lace. The aroma is not over powering but well balanced in its complexity. There is lot of different orchard fruit like qualities mixed with banana with a pepper like finish. It is easy to drink with a bit of a thick feeling to it density.

Bottle poured into Weizen
Three and a half finger off white head

Golden, straw, yellow

Taste: booze, yeast, and a banana

Aroma: Clove, yeast, banana

Mouthfeel: thick and refreshing

This was a golden find! I prefer this to the hefe. While I owe al lot to Erdinger Weiss, this is much better. Have this Beer!
