This beer pours a bit of a darker colour than the standard Erdinger. The smell immediately lets you know that this effort from Erdinger is a different beast altogether. Very spicy and clove like. Tastes just how it smells. Spicy, strong clove again. Really nice. Mouthfeel reminds me of Weihenstephaner although in fact I think this has a little more going on taste wise.

Tonight this hit the spot perfectly, I definitely recommend it.

Pours a hazy orange that turns to a red in thicker spots of Erdinger glass. Yeast chunks in it, but hoping no issues on taste. Ben there before on Weiss. Typical creamy white head. Banana bread and citrus fruit smell. Shared than other Weiss. Definite clove. Taste is wonderful. Banana orange with malty yeast finish. A carbonic burst assists taste and texture. Smooth refreshing finish. Another great German beer makes me want to go!!

A great beer. I recently met through referral from a friend. Here in Brazil leaves an average of $ 9. A little expensive but worth the investment. Highly refreshing, especially with the weather here in Brasilia (Brazil), around 30 º. Great color and amber foam that does not hold much to the cup and a very smooth taste.

Big, tall head sits atop a cloudy and bright yellow body

Smells like a typical hefe of banana, lemon, and spices

Taste & Mouthfeel
Smell is deceptive as the flavors are strong on honey and malt with very little-to-no banana; has that awesome soft texture from the wheat; full body, lots of carbonation

Really enjoyed this one as it had an overriding honey-like quality with a lacking banana flavor that gave it a unique characteristic for a hefeweizen. It's a bit too sweet to make it a session beer, but certainly not too sweet to enjoy a whole bottle.

-pours a modest head that quickly recedes
-the smell and taste of this hefe are perfect
-modest hop aroma leaves room for the bready/yeasty/banana aroma to come through
-I get a little bit of spice in the aroma as well
-tastes just like a Bavarian Hefeweizen should: banana/clove in good balance, absolutely no undesirable esters, very clean finish that makes me want to never stop drinking this beer
-I'm sure there are some folks that won't like this beer because it comes from a macro, but I think it may be one of the best hefeweizens available

Bought in a five beer gift pack with an Erdinger weissbier vase.

Poured from the 16.9 oz. bottle into an Innis & Gunn flute.

a: Translucent deep gold, formed an enormous and stubborn white head.

s: Slight fruit note..

t: Belgian yeast fruit flavor. Blindfolded, I would think it was an exceptionally good Belgian wheat beer.

m: Light to medium with good body.

o: Very refreshing, excellent Belgian-like flavor with none of the sourness such can impart. Extremely sessionable! I would definitely buy this again.

Bottle poured into Weizen
Three and a half finger off white head

Golden, straw, yellow

Taste: booze, yeast, and a banana

Aroma: Clove, yeast, banana

Mouthfeel: thick and refreshing

This was a golden find! I prefer this to the hefe. While I owe al lot to Erdinger Weiss, this is much better. Have this Beer!

A- beautiful thick golden brown body. persistant and big off white head. Merrangue like head... "drink me"

S- Alcohol and floral. Almost buttery with sweet bread. Big malt characteristic, and a hint of bananna and vanilla.

T- Creamy buttery. Floral hop finish. Esthery tones in middle. Malty, creamy and toasty. Leafy and flowery. Banana with some spiciness. Vanilla and bread. And honey. Taste's great, just could be more stand out-ish.

M- Very light carbonation leaves a creamy and milky feel.

D- The size of the bottle leaves me full afterwards. Couldn't be downed very fast.

500ml bottle bought from GapWines, Belfast...

Poured a hazy light golden yellow colour... White head poured typically big thick and foamy then faded slowly to nice thick layer ... lots of carbonation rises to the surface... decent amount of thick sticky lacing...

Aroma - Nice clove spiciness, light vanilla notes, noticeable wheat, quite bready, very little malts, light fruitiness (banana and lemon), quite peppery...

Taste - Light biscuity malts, fairly strong clove, definite breadiness, quite creamy, good fruitiness (lemon, pear and sweet banana), salty, quite floral - hints of lily, honey grassy and peppery hints...

Feel - Very smooth and creamy with just a little bite underneath... light body... Extremely refreshing and drinkable...

Overall - An excellent German hefe and the best Erdinger brew i've had...

Cloudy orange colour with a large, three fingers sized head that is white & foamy in texture. Retention is good as it slowly reduces to about a fingers width.

A good mix of wheat, a little banana, clove & a faint hint of grainy alcohol but nothing off-putting. There is some citrus & vanilla in the background that round off this rather complex smelling beer quite nicely.

The taste has stronger citrus notes to it & a nice amount of wheat, banana & a nice bit of spice as well. Not quite as pleasant as the smell in my opinion but still a great beer to drink.

Medium bodied with high carbonation without seeming overly gassy. The drink is smooth & low on bitter with a good overall feel to it.

A great hefeweizen here & one of the nicest beers I have tried in a while. Very drinkable with a wonderful taste & an even better aroma. Not the most exciting example of the style but a solid & very enjoyable beer.

Because Erdinger Urweiss isn't sold in the US and I was at a bar in São Paulo with an imported craft selection, I went for this. From a 500ml bottle, on to the beer:

The waiter poured this oen well in the Erdinger Wiessbrau glass that was provided for this beer. Yellow orange colored beer, cloudy, a beauty of a fluffy white head on top with very good retention. The stringy lacing it leaves is icing on the cake. Lemon and banana are the flavors I smell out of this beer. Maybe a little nutmeg as well.

This is a good tasting hefeweizen. Cinnamon banana is the first thing to hit my mind. Banana bread notes also hit me. Faint clove rounds it all up. The chalky mouthfeel left from the wiessbier is appetizing, and is a carrot to have me drink more of this beer.

Consdiering I'm not a fan of the regular hefeweizen, I was pleasantly surprised by Urweiss. I think Erdinger should ditch the hefe and make this their flagship.

Served in a tapered weizen mug.

Huge pillowy head, lasting head retention that never breaks on the surface. Murky saturated orange color, fairly opaque once the yeast is swirled in.

Light banana and orange creamsicle aromas that carry into the flavor. Lightly wheaty on the back end, slightly dry in the finish and not too sweet. Clean and flavorful. Unfiltered and yeasty. Medium bodied and pretty quenching in the summer heat, drinkability is high. Better than the standard Erdinger Weizen from what I remember.

500ml bottle. Weizen glass. Bright brass color, foggy appearance. Close, sticky, lasting, white in color crown. Intense banana, fresh yeast & bread aromas. Crispy upfront, malty & biscuit flavors. Light to medium body. Moderate but lively carbonation. Unctuous mouthfeel. Bread, banana flavors, spiced hues & phenolic touch. Low bitterness & subtle spicy notes. Long sweet finish & fruity aftertaste. Delicious & refreshing!!

A- Great looking straw colored beer with long lasting off white head.
S- Smells distinctly of brewing spices; coriander?
T- Sweet, even for a Weizen; strong, but pleasant, slightly citrusy.
M- A bit harsh and acidic, relatively high carbonation on the tongue.
O- Decent, sessionable beer with a very pleasant taste that breaks the traditional weizen mold.

Serving was on tap at the brewery in Erding. BTW: Their tour is highly recommended. For 10 Euros, you get a brewery tour and 2 hours of beer tasting with bretzels and weisswurst.

A: Cloudy orange color with nice white head foam. Nice lacing.

S= Slightly spicy with typical banana-hefe aroma.

T= Nice banana with hints of clove. Hop bittering is subtle and balanced as expected.

M= Mouthfeel is full with strong carbonation typical for this style.

O= Definitely my favorite hefeweizen from the Erdinger brewery. This recipe, which is based on an older family recipe, is reminiscent of a Franziskaner weizen. A very good weizen.

Pours cloudy and full from the start, forming a deep golden hazed body, with a frothy and shiny head of white, that leaves classic weizen suds as it collapses. Colour is perfect for a hefe, and glows welcomingly from my weizen glass. Lovely looking brew.

Nose is round and a little sweet, with a very light banana character, but a more prominent soapy detergent note, that gives rise to a slight peppery spice. Certainly all believable characteristics for a German hefe. Not as full bodied or complex as some, though.

Taste is smooth and long, with some very pleasant banana esters coming forward, and a lingering sweetness that is tempered by the light spicy astringency. Carbonation is a bit harsh on the front, but by the end, the smooth and clear body has ironed out the zealous effervescence.

I like the lingering nature of the beer. In some ways, it detracts from the drinkability, in the way that it's difficult to down quickly, but otherwise, the flavours are so clean and refreshing that it would have had a high drinkability score anyway.

A very nice hefe, and one I would say is better than their standard Weissbier. Stick to the original, ur, Erdinger.

Best before 3/2014.

Pours a hazy orange with a foamy orange-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, wheat, spice, and yeast aromas. Taste is much the same with banana and yeast flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and somewhat medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

On-tap at a local Oktoberfest celebration. Served in an Erdinger plastic pint glass.

A- foamy, tan head starts at 1-1/2 fingers, has awesome retention, and leaves great stick. Hazy orange body.

S- lemon, bananas, clove. Mostly lemon.

T- tons of banana, some lemon, lighter cloves. Robust.

M- creamy. Light carbonation.

O- very flavorful, so much so I was wondering if it was an amped-up/imperial version at points. Tons of banana. I would have drank this all afternoon given the chance. Great for the Fest in unusually warm, fall weather. Refreshing.

Erdinger Urweiser

A- AMAZINGLY THICK HEAD. The first thing I noticed. I poured carefully, and yet the foam is incredible! 2 inched thick and going strong. The retention is unreal- I could have put a penny on the head and it would have held. Light amber color, slightly cloudy.

S- Mmmm Smells so tropical! This is another beer that reminds me of Trix cereal—wheat and bready yeast, along with the fruit on the nose.

T- Definitely German. Banana and yeast are the prominent tastes, along with clove and coriander. My first taste was as fruity as the nose suggested, but as I sipped on this beer I was struck by how well it fit the hefeweisen profile. Very true to style beer. Not my favorite, but very well made.

A - Deep orange colour with a small bit of lacing on top.

S - Wheat, bread and a hint of cloves.

T - A more intense white beer. Strong, yeasty with clove flavour coming through but balanced with sweetness.

M - Pretty watery with a slight fizz. Decent but nothing special here.

O - More interesting that the normal Erdinger and most White beers out there. A great beer but perhaps not reaching the same heights as other beers ive tried.

Pours pale orange with slightly off-white extremely generous and dense head, good retention, patchy lacing. Aroma is mild wheat, slightly bready with banana and moderate clove.

Taste is light bready malt, subtle banana and clove, mild yeast, becomes rather sweet towards the end of the glass. Mouthfeel is smooth and gentle with prickly carbonation, very, very refreshing.

Overall, the beer feels quite mild, but seems to me probably the best Erdinger brew.

A: A light yellow-y-orange and a bit opaque body with a thick big head.
S: Yeasty and lots of bananas.
T: Lots of wheat, banana and vanilla.
M: Good carbonation, smooth, light-bodied, highly drinkable.
O: Much better than the original Erdinger and actually, but it's not the best Erdinger I've had, that prize goes to Erdinger Dunkel. Possibly, it was the first Hefe I've had. Generally speaking, nice beer.
