From a two liter growler my girlfriend brought me from the brewery last May. It has a dark cherry color, lightly hazed, with low carbonation and an off-white head. Smells very fruity, giving off notes of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and strawberries. I also find a light spiciness, cookie batter, mild hops and a bit of milk chocolate. Fairly similar on the palate, with a mild bitterness, toasted and caramel malts, cherries and a blackberry smoothie finish on top of a moderately carbonated, dextrinous body. This is not really a barleywine, but it is well-balanced, and the pronounced fruitiness makes it a nice dessert beer.

On tap this past weekend at Union. Served in an 8 oz tulip glass. Would like to see a bit of a larger glass if this is indeed only 7%. Appearance was dark orange to brown in color. No head and no lacing. Smell was hoppy and boozy, so that was a promising sign. Taste was pretty mediocre. Hot with alcohol, and no flavor. Not very complex at all on the palate. Too watery for a barleywine also. Drinkable? Yes, I could drink it. Did I order a second or will I recommend? No.

Pored from the tap into a tasting glass.
The color is a dark amber with some maroon hues. It has a nice foamy white head with some nice lacing.
The smell is sweet some dark sugar flavor. Some caramel and vanilla come out as well.
The taste is a bit maple flavor but does not stay long as it goes into a malty flavor that mixes with a caramel feel. It has some bitterness in the taste some coming from the alcohol flavor.
The feel of this beer a little heavy but dry. It goes down okay but the drinkability is lacking somewhat and leaves a little to be desired.

On-Tap and poured into a 3 oz. tasting wine glass
Appearance: dark amber/brown with crimson hues and a fluffy 1/4 inch head.
Smell: Sweet dark sugar, caramel, vanilla. Odor of hops is certainly detectable but not overpowering.
Taste: WOW! for about 1/4 of a second it tastes good like sweet maple and caramel. THen it instantly gives way to raw alcoholic bitterness. All that is tastable is a burnt bitter alcoholic flavor that lingers and lingers.
Mouthfeel; Completely dries out your mouth and makes you want a drink of watter, it was nice upfront but then wow was it bad.
Drinkability: I couldnt even finish the 3 oz. serving they gave me. Absolutely horrible.
Overall: If you have never had a barleywine, don't try this. If you love barley wines, PLEASE don't try this. This is the absolute worst barley wine i have ever had if not the worst "craft beer". just another piss poor attempt by union station.
