Went there on June 12th, 2013.
Selection of beers is far from the greatest. They were all served at the same warm temperature, although some styles demand something different. No water is regularly served to clean your palate, which is a must to a decent craft beer place. Bathroom would not lock its door, because of poor maintance. No food faire, just a cold cut, and cheese plate (though I must confess the spicied chorizo thing was fantastic - though I paid the price next day). And to put a cherry on top of it, this was the worst service I got in NY. Slow and very unfriendly and rude even for NY standards (it was not really busy). They should hire beer lovers, not just someone that wanted to bring home the bacon because they had no other choice in life. The girl was ok, but the gent was a piece.
Also, my impression is that most of the beers were past due date or its prime. It is hard to tell once in the US even worldwide breweries that usually have a date stamped, here they don't. And some sellers take advantage to this.
Come on, just because a place looks dirty and dark, does not necessarily is good, you may consider it is "cool", but It is really just a dirty and dark place. That some day had some merit to bring some Belgian Ales, but that is past over.
Take your business to Torst, or Gingerman with a much better selection (in drafts, bottle service and food).

How on Earth do I not have a review of Spuyten Duyvil down?
Love this place. Have been here so many times and tried so many different beers that I probably would have never been able to. 1984 Boon Mariage Parfait, Cantillon Saint Lamvinus on a hand pump, and on and on and on. The decor is awesome, the selection is thorough (even with the minimal taps) and it's worth a visit if you've never been.

In the hipster-elitist tradition, there's no sign for this place and every beer is super expensive, much like the local's rent. However, if you can afford it, there's plenty of hard-to-find brews. Though hard-to-find COULD be desirable, the quality of these rare brews leaves something to be desired. Many of the beers have sub-90 reviews on Beer Advocate. I don't take my chances on beers over $10. I like the garden in the back. It's a relaxing place to drink a decent craft beer. Doesn't compare to say, Bohemian Beer Garden in Astoria, but it's still a nice change of scenery compared with most bars.
