If you've never been to this place before, make sure you look at all the hints people have left in other reviews. Seriously, there is no signage and from the outside the place looks like an abandoned candy store. We were literally standing right in front of it and having a discussion about where it was!! Hilarious. Finally, someone noted the name on the mailbox. We entered cautiously since we still weren't sure if this was the place. Obviously, the place has an "insiders" feel to it...and we felt like outsiders.
Small place with a very casual and eclectic feel to it. Slightly "run down" feel that is probably on purpose. After I got used to it [and the feeling that I was crashing someone's party went away] I began to feel right at home.
Nice selection of bottled beer with many I had never heard of before. Quite impressive. Maybe a half dozen brews on tap, but it is the bottled selection that drives this place.
Since the weather was nice, we sat out back. A nice walled in area that feels like someone's backyard. Not a bad thing at all. Much better to sit outside than inside.
Service was decent, but I hope you are not in a rush. Have to order at the bar and that can be a challenge if it is crowded.
Overall, definitely worth the stop into this rather unusual little beer bar. Great selection of unusual stuff [but you will definitely pay a premium for it, so be prepared].
I must point out that there is a GREAT BBQ place diagonally [to the right when you walk out and face the street]. I think it is owned by the same people as the bar. Anyway, the food is amazing...very casual setting [like a garage] but amazing authentic bbq. Wow!

How on Earth do I not have a review of Spuyten Duyvil down?
Love this place. Have been here so many times and tried so many different beers that I probably would have never been able to. 1984 Boon Mariage Parfait, Cantillon Saint Lamvinus on a hand pump, and on and on and on. The decor is awesome, the selection is thorough (even with the minimal taps) and it's worth a visit if you've never been.

In the hipster-elitist tradition, there's no sign for this place and every beer is super expensive, much like the local's rent. However, if you can afford it, there's plenty of hard-to-find brews. Though hard-to-find COULD be desirable, the quality of these rare brews leaves something to be desired. Many of the beers have sub-90 reviews on Beer Advocate. I don't take my chances on beers over $10. I like the garden in the back. It's a relaxing place to drink a decent craft beer. Doesn't compare to say, Bohemian Beer Garden in Astoria, but it's still a nice change of scenery compared with most bars.
