I was on a pub crawl with a group of friends and the fabled Spuyten Duyvil was the fourth stop on the list that started at The Sixpoint Brewery and ended at Barcade.
I found the place to be packed with a younger college crowd looking to be seen, but the little bar looked like it had been a Jamaican lunch counter or a diner in a previous life and the colors were the same. We were lucky to have found a table in the smoking section of the backyard after ordering from the superb menu of unusual things.
I was surprised to find a better sake menu than in most sushi bars and good amount of cider from Normandy, not to mention a dream-like array of ales.
My preference was for the Defiant cask selection which pared well with the expensive three cheese board we ordered.
Like the other places I visited, I would hope to return on a week day evening to see what the place was like without the crowds.

A nice little pub with a welcoming feel and a fantastic beer garden out back. They have an interesting tap list along with a list of pricy rare beers available for a splurge. I was just in for a quick scouting visit but I plan to come back for a longer stay.
