For some time, I had the desire the go to Spuyten Duyvil, but did not make it out there until recently ( from the burbs ).
The atmosphere was cozy, inviting and fun above all.
The quality of everything there is very good.
The service from the staff is awesome, they know their shit, but are very friendly and cordial about serving their customers. Any questions you might have, they will happily answer for you.
The selection of beers is very good, I had one draft from Brooklyn Brewery and one bottle of a belgian wit imported by B. United which I had never seen before.
Yes, it is a bit pricey, but it is NYC, so what the hell ?

How on Earth do I not have a review of Spuyten Duyvil down?
Love this place. Have been here so many times and tried so many different beers that I probably would have never been able to. 1984 Boon Mariage Parfait, Cantillon Saint Lamvinus on a hand pump, and on and on and on. The decor is awesome, the selection is thorough (even with the minimal taps) and it's worth a visit if you've never been.

In the hipster-elitist tradition, there's no sign for this place and every beer is super expensive, much like the local's rent. However, if you can afford it, there's plenty of hard-to-find brews. Though hard-to-find COULD be desirable, the quality of these rare brews leaves something to be desired. Many of the beers have sub-90 reviews on Beer Advocate. I don't take my chances on beers over $10. I like the garden in the back. It's a relaxing place to drink a decent craft beer. Doesn't compare to say, Bohemian Beer Garden in Astoria, but it's still a nice change of scenery compared with most bars.
