Pours a somewhat hazy amber color with finger width foamy head. Head retention is good as is the lacing. Bready aroma with maybe a hint of caramel. Bready taste up front with mild caramel on the end. Light bodied with moderate carbonation.

From the bottle, it pours a nice amber color with a just off-white head. In the nose, it is caramel malts predominating. In the mouth, the same. Enjoyable!

they are pretty proud of this one it seems like, one of their more popular beers, we saw it all over town on draft and in bottles. i thought it was just okay, and definitely a step behind their surprisingly impressive golden ale, of which i could drink indefinitely. this one has a little sweetness to it cutting into the drinkability, and it might get a little boring without a food context. fortunately, we had a great one that really favored this beer, heady wood fired pizza! the burnt bits on the edges of the crust were nice with the sweet and nutty malt profile here, the oily sauce was nice with the fully, protein rich body, and the drying and flavorful lager yeast helped wash the palate clean of any spice or grease at the end. i think by itself, this would be pretty generic. i wish it were a touch drier, and i wish it had a little hop bite at the end, it seems to be lacking balance in favor of the malt really lingering at the end, and it does stick around awhile, but i like it having some substance and so much flavor, too many bland amber lagers out there. pretty basic stuff, but if you like this style, this is a fine example of it. to me it was by far the least exciting of the alamo beers we had during the week.
