Pacific liquor is a sub-par stop on the near north side of San Diego. basically a gas station without the gas and with quite a bit of craft beer, the staff members don't know beer, and the stock does not turn over high enough to keep the product fresh.
quality is decent. the stock does not turn over well (both brews that this BA picked up were no good; an IPA and a Flanders Oud Bruin), and the staff is not into beer, so it really acts as a quick pick-up for people looking for certain things that might sell quickly. most of the beer is on the back and left wall in coolers, with some stock out on shelves adjacent to the coolers.
service is lacking, mainly because of the nature of the establishment. do not expect to get any advice on the local stuff or meet anyone who knows beer.
selection is good. full lines of the local breweries (Coronado, Ballast Point, Russian River, Stone, Green Flash, etc) with a mildly healthy import load as well. nothing one won't find at any decent liquor store though...
overall, this seems like an emergency stop when time is short, but better options exist in the general area if one is able to look around...

Cool liquor/beer store in North Park. From the outside (and inside actually) it doesn't look like much beyond your typical liquor/corner market, but they have a huge selection of quality craft beers from San Diego and beyond. I good place to hunt for very popular beers/things that sell out quickly, as it's not as well known as Bottlecraft but usually gets most of the same selection. I didn't ask for help from anyone working, but the guy behind the counter was very friendly, so there's that. Definitely worth checking out.

This is such a great store. They have such a great amount of alcohol and it is beer heaven. If you are looking for something random and looking for some rare beers, you need to check this place out. I honestly do like it a lot. I moved to the North Park area and have not been disappointed. They are open until 2am which makes it even better.

So the place looks like kind of a dump from the outside but I was drawn in by the promise of "over 450 beers". I was on vacation and headed to the beach so I was just looking the first time in. They had some Russian River stuff including about 6 or 7 Plinys. I figured I would come back later in the evening and pick up a couple to take home. Bad move. When I got back they were all gone. This is where the good score for customer service comes in. I saw a guy stocking beers and wondered if they might get some more Pliny in soon. He said no, but if I wanted, he had one more bottle in a refrigerator in back. Really nice guy, and made a point to tell me that they always made sure that this beer in particular stays very cold and never sits out of refrigeration. Of course that would be ideal with all beer but at least they know what they have there. Other than that the selection was good, a couple of things seem like they don't move very often and were a bit old. They also have a nice selection of really reasonably priced glassware.

A fairly large store that houses a pretty large selection of brews. Most of the beer seems to be housed in the large, long wall coolers, though there also some stacks of cases and such in the open floor space. Though there is the full complement of macro brews represented, there is also a plentiful selection of good micro beers as well as imports. On-street parking only and this is a very busy street.
