Dad picked up a case of this for 8 pounds or something ridiculous like that, with that in mind this isn't bad. Slightly honeyish with ssome floral hops, fairly bitter. But lacking in most departmnets, nothing distinctive or anything, just a simple, quaffable lager. (265 characters)

Beer bottle (50cl), tasted in 2004.

Appearance : Pale golden color, with medium creamy foam head.
Smell : grass and flowery hops aromas.
Taste and mouthfeel : Flavor is bittersweet, fruity maltiness balanced by an herbal hoppy background
Drinkability : an average beer in Czech pilsener style (293 characters)

This is an outstanding Czech pilsner/lager, beautiful with a full, complex character.

Bright, deep gold, it has a huge, faintly off-white , foamy head, steadily shrinking to a large, permanent head that's never less than 1.5-2 inches, foamy, with nice, if uneven, rings of foamy lace.

The aroma is a wonderful Czech pilsner - firm, full-bodied, clear and aromatic with a lot of bread, herbs, lemon, grain, bread crust, hint of mineral, overall airy and slightly flowery.

The taste is similar, clean, clear, but full-bodied, firm in character, complex, balanced and engaging. It has a strong bread-herb character of bread, herbs, with grain, light lemon, hints of yeast and grass, firm sweetness with balancing, zesty, bitterness, mostly herbal, slightly medicinal, with just a light spicey bite. It has great balance, excellent interplay of the various elements, and a long, complex aftertaste of sweet lightly toasted bread with lemony-herbal bitterness. The feel is excellent, full, slightly oily yet lively and engaging. if becoming slightly thin by the end. It engages the whole mouth. (1,092 characters)

Barely copper colour with little carbonation, filtered with 2 fingers of yellowish white head.

Fresh hay and malt, smells like my gerbils' straw he slept in, or even more so the fodder our chickens lived in, seriously and this is not a criticism, just my honesty. Slight honey, honey biscuit.

Honey biscuit, fresh cut hay, slight fodder, malt, light sweetness.

Light body with a slightly syrupy consistency, subtle foamy carbonation.

A fair one for the style, but hey they should have this one down as its their local brew. Drank in Chiang Mai June 19th, 2015. (566 characters)

The Primator brand just started to show up in the local stores, 3 varieties, I remember I had had the doppelbock awhile ago and it was pretty harsh. 11.2 oz brown bottle.

Unfortunately all I have is a standard american pint glass to have this in but isn't that what most people drink this out of anyways?
It pours a clear gold, not as dark as some of the other Czech examples, definitely crystal clear. The head is big, fluffy and white and recedes semi-slowly to some decent lacing.

The smell is a huge letdown for the style. Mild grass and huskiness, a hint of bread, but very flat smelling.

Taste is a bit better, the hops come though with a bit more bitterness, actually a pretty high amount for the style, but still it is incredibly over-herbal. The malt isn't what I love from a Czech Pils either.

It does have a nice mouthfeel though.

There are better Czech Pilseners out there, but some people might like this more than me, it is very herbal for the style.

edit, it gets better as it warms, usually I don't have my pilseners as cold as i originally had this one, def enjoyed cool, not cold, still it is pretty average. (1,132 characters)

Comes in a tall brown half-liter bottle with a nice enough label featuring a coat of arms and a Czech castle. Sugar is an ingredient. Best before 9/18/04, I opened it on 12/22/03.

Pours clear gold under a one finger white head with some body but not much staying power. The nose features mild flowery hops. The mouth is crisp, light and prickly. The taste is almost all hops, a bit harsh, a bit metallic (thanks to the sugar, I suspect) and a bit flowery underneath it all. There's also some spiciness here somewhere, reminiscent of coriander. A very good bitter bite emerges in the aftertaste. OK, but a bit disappointing. (626 characters)

Clear golden hue w/ profuse threads of bubbles supporting the persistant and thick head. Dense and ornate lace is left. Sweet, grainy malt in aroma, w/ a trace of cooked cabbage. The overall flavor profile is quite sweet, due to the meager hop bitterness. The malt character lacks depth, and consists ofresidual sweetness and light breadiness, but not much else is there. A mildly grassy hop flavor eeks in, but is lost amongst the malt sweetness. Although moderately bodied and smooth in mouthfeel, the sweetness and lack of balance hurts the drinkability. Finishes expectedly sweet. Primator lacks the refined balance of a good Vienna. It falls short of its attractive appearance. (690 characters)

A - This hazy peach/apricot hued brew threw up a four finger-plus white head when poured into my big ass heavy glass mug. This is darker than most pilseners and lacing is only decent. Head retention is so-so, as the head goes away within five minutes and does not come back with agitation.

S - Malty as all hell with a giant yeast presence. This smells like a dried apricot studded scone or a peach tart bakery treat. Peach cobbler maybe? Touches of spicy hops hint at the style of this brew. nice.

T - Summery fruits...peach, pear, apricot, and maybe even a little cantaloupe. This has more hop spice than the malty nose suggests, and I appreciate the nearly flawless balance of this beer.

M - Medium bodied with middling carbonation and a dry peppery finish.

D - Drinkability is probably this brew's forte. More heavily malted and fruity than most pilseners, this is a good definition of what I consider perfect malt/hop balance. I liked this one a lot! (959 characters)

Standard fare Czech lager. Slightly cloudy golden colour with a nice white head.

Flowery hop and light malt smell. There are traces of - and I am not kidding- urine. Seriously...there is a faint hint of something that smells like pee.

So-so taste. The saaz stands out, malt is okay. It had almost a lemony-flavour on the first sip, but that disappeared right away. Too bad, as that would almost be enjoyable.

Carbonation is alright, this easy to drink, but not as nice as Budvar. (482 characters)

330ml bottle poured into a pils glass
A: Golden color with a one-finger head that slowly settles
S: Full aromatics of raw grain & a hint of coriander
T: Rich biscuit/malt up front and a slightly herbal finish
M: Light bodied, smooth with pleasant carbonation
O: If the big American brewers would make lagers half this good, I would be much more inclined to drink them. This is what the style should be (401 characters)

The color when poured was a clear golden yellow with an orange hue. A fair amount of foam. The smell of hops and yeast was evident. A typical Lager aroma. The taste was your better Larger flavor. Nice balance of hops and malt. Not to bitter, but a nice balance of hops and malts, also a nice balance of bitter/sweetness, the bitterness wasn't overpowering. (356 characters)

I bought a Mix and Match 6-pack of this at Badger Spirts in Beloit, WI in Summer 2011.

Pours a clear, clean amber color. Has a decent head with an average amount of carbonation. Scent is that of some grassy grains mixed with a slighty amount of citrus. Has a nice texture that isn't too thin or too heavy. Taste is rather wheat like and mellow. Drinks rather well, especially on a hot summer day. (397 characters)

This rich, golden beer pours with a thick, snow white head that ever so slowly fades to a layer of white film atop the very slightly hazy liquid, while leaving a nice lacing on the glass. The aroma is slightly bready, with pepper and lemon notes, and a malt character to it as well. The taste is rather sweet, with notes of lemon and pepper, almost to a point of sourness. Very unique. The finish is fairly crisp, with the citric tartness lingering behind. The mouthfeel is very full and satisfying, and supports the sweetness of the beer well. The drinkability suffers a little from the sweetness, a little from the tartness. This beer almost seems like a cross between a dortmunder lager and a weizen of some sort. While cetainly not one of my favorites, I'm glad I experienced this beer. (790 characters)

Out of the Czech republic. Golden in color, fluffy white head, not very consistant. The flavor from this beer (and also the smell) is a pretty malty one. Very slight hop bitterness.

This one is brewed in accordance with the german purity laws. Of the other beers that i have had that also comply (the green monsters) this is probably one of the better ones. Not as generic as some other european brews ive had, pretty decent. (429 characters)

Straw yellow in colour. Lots of tiny CO2 bubbles streaming upwards. Fluffy, white foamy head stays in place for several minutes and slowly begins shrinking down. Quite average looking considering the style.
Smell is bready malts with a bit of earthy hops and little else.
Taste, too, is bready malts with earthy hops bringing up the rear.
This is a good Czech beer, but nothing amazing. It's definitely a well crafted beer without the "skunk" I was expecting, and highly drinkable! I'm sure this would pair well with a lot of different foods, as well. Glad I tried it, and considering the price (around $2,99/500mL) I'll certainly look for it again. (650 characters)

Pint bottle poured in a Pilsner glass on 10-15-11

A: 2.5 finger head, not very thick, fizzled away quickly. Light yellow color, very clear and no cloudiness. Well carbonated.

S: Spicy and crisp smell, enjoyable and summery with buttery notes.

T: Very light, I'm getting fruit essences but for a thin beer it is very flavorful.

M: Like mentioned above, very thing. Enjoyable for the flavor and surprising.

O: Not bad, but probably wouldn't order again. Would be better if I had enjoyed it during the summer, it is light and flavorful enough to be enjoyed by even casual beer drinkers. (588 characters)

Had in a pint glass from a 500ml. Is a pleasant yellow with a thick white head. Has a malty smell, grassy and yeasty.

Relatively smooth taste, like a typical European lager. Decent, but in an already crouded genre, there are better choices. Probably won't find it in my fridge again. (285 characters)

500 ml can from Prague

Pours golden, aroma is typical light malt with spicy hops. Taste is similar sweetish malt with pleasant grassy hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium, seems to be a bit thicker than standard Czech Pils.

Overall, drinkable, but not very exciting beer, it seems that several other Primator brews are way better. (332 characters)

Can thanks to Milos- Clear light golden, pours a thin white foam. Simple nose of grain, grassy hops and some pale malts is very clean. Slightly sweet grainy pale malt flavour has a good dose of fresh grassy hops, and is slightly fruity. Slightly sharp in the finish with moderate bitterness. Good. Thanks Milos! (311 characters)

500 ml bottle. A number stamped on the back label. Classy-looking, light-brown bottle.

Pours a clear, light golden. A white head soon dissipates, but patches the glass a bit. Smell is of cut grass. The first taste is a husky, light malt, but soon the taste buds are deluged with mineral - gobs of metallic, heavy well-water flavor. Finishes with a crisp, snappy hops. Tasty indeed. This would pair well with some good, sharp cheese. (433 characters)

Primator, no not a double bock, rather it is a hearty lager from the Czech Republic. This beer pours a fairly deep golden color. The aroma is nice and rich, malty. This is obviously not a Czech style pils, it is very malty, much more than is typical for the style. Initial sweetness leads to a toasty middle and a fairly understated aftertaste with hints of toffee. This is actually a nice beer at any price, but at 99 cents for a half a liter, it is a steal. (459 characters)

A malty, metallic Bohemian pilsener, pouring a slightly tarnished brassy color with decent head, leaving stagnant pools of foam and minimal lacing. Strong malty aroma with elements of bread crust, cracker, and vague boiled vegetables. The beer goes down quite easily, with a generous sweetness from the malts balanced by typical pilsner hoppage: heavily herbal, a bit of grass, and maybe even a twinge of black licorice. A large gulp reveals a sharpness and slight sourness that is most likely the result of time and travel. Hops taste slightly stale but I am inclined to hold that against the importer, distributor, and vendor, rather than the brewery. Easily avoided by taking smaller sips and revelling in the malty qualities up front. Mouthfeel thin and refreshing; drinkability decent if not through the roof. (814 characters)

This brew pours a beautiful golden copper color with a thick and creamy white head that dissipates too quickly but leaves a nice lace. Sweet maltiness dominates the aroma with a slightly husky grain aroma and very faint hops in the background. The taste starts off with some sweet maltiness before the brief burst of hops in the middle. The hops are then beaten out again by the malt for the finish of the brew. There is a lingering sweet maltiness, almost sticky, along with a strange metallic flavor, almost like I was drinking this out of a can. The brew has a decent body to it but the sticky sweet taste that is left in your mouth drops it down some as well as bringing the drinkability down some. There is just too much overly sweet malt in this beer and not enough hops to balance it out. (801 characters)

Very nice lager, pours a golden yellow with white head that is quite nice to look at, lacing is average. The smell is very malty, slight toasted grain, touch of fruit. The taste is maltier than most lagers, rich but still smooth, goes well with meals, the caramel grains are pleasant, slight hops cleanses the palate, light bodied and great session beer. (354 characters)
