It is late spring. The sun is shining, it is 23º C outside and the birds are singing. And I am still reviewing Easter beers: I am way behind my schedule!
The colour is very dark clear wine red, almost black. The very large beige head sinks down to a compact finger thick head, leaving lots of lacing. It looks like a fine Dunkel, almost like a porter!
The smell is very malty with pumpernickel, some dry roasted notes and a mild bitter touch.
The taste is creamy with a solid base of lightly roasted malt, some bitter-salt flavours, a hint of peanuts and a dry sweetness. The medium long aftertaste got more roasted flavours with a balancing fruity bitterness.
The mouthfeel is sooo smooth, like drinking velvet. The mild carbonation got microscopic, very fresh bubbles.
A very nice and discreet Dunkel.
