Pours somewhat cloudy in a deep amber brown color. It is equipped with a thick covering of off-white head that will sit with you for a while, and it will come right back up with some gentle swirling. The nose is a huge blast of sweet malts. Some nice hops are also present to provide a very nice aroma. It smells so fresh, which is pretty strange for something that is 5 years old.
The body is pretty full, but not all the way there. The carbonation is very mild. The initial flavor is nice and toasty. Malts are absolutely huge, and the backbone is absolutely delicious. Little touches of alcohol are found in the finish, but ever so subtle. The hops provide a bit of balance. This one is earthy and a bit grassy. I can only imagine that this would be a work of art on cask. The drinkability is excellent along with mouthfeel. It is so smooth. It definitely seems like an intensified ESB which is something I like to see. I think that this one may not have made it in the cellar for too much longer, so a big thanks to yen157 for letting me know that it was time to pop this one.

A: The beer is hazy orange amber in color. It poured with a short off white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of toffee are present in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and also has additional flavors of caramel and toffee and hints of vanilla. No alcohol is perceptible.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has an interesting mix of flavors that improve and become a little more complex as the beer warms up.
