11.2 oz bottle poured into a pint glass.
A: Dark brown/black with a ruby hue. 2 inch off-white head sits atop the beer only briefly before disappearing and leaves behind little lacing.
S: Caramel, toffee, molasses, chocolate, coffee, and some dark fruit.
T: Darkfruit strikes the palate quickly with a tart, sour edge. Mildly astringent. This transitions to tastes of caramel, toffee, and rich sugary molasses. Dark chocolate comes out in the end and joins bold flavors of espresso and a nice robust roasted malt taste in the dry finish. Roasted malts and a pleasant smokey taste linger on the tongue for quite some time.
M: Light to medium in body, smooth and creamy. Carbonation is moderate. Texture is great, but the mouthfeel is somewhat lighter than I expected.
D: Awesome. Very easy to drink owing to the light body, creamy texture, and rich, sweet taste.
Notes: Easy to drink, rich, tasty, and complex. Flavors open up more as it warms. This would be great as a dessert beer, but can certainly stand on its own as well. This is the quintessential English Porter, and a real treat to drink.

Poured from a bottle into a snifter at around 45°F
Appearance: Brown with a mahogany tent when put up to the light. Small off white head
Smell: Sweet caramel malt and toffee
Taste: Identical to the smell
Mouthfeel: Medium body; slight bitterness and goes down smooth
Overall: I shouldve known what I was getting into after trying Anchor Porter the other week. This was just too sweet with not enough coffee notes. I prefer American style porters all the way (Founders, Smuttynose, Eddy Fitz)
