A: Pours a dark garnet red with a scant tan head.

S: Roast Coffee, raisin and plum dominate the aroma with a touch of vanilla. No hop aroma to speak of.

T: Coffee is the feature with sweet dark fruits. A wee bit of chocolate. An ever so mild hop bitterness controls the malt sweetness, and this brew does finish semi dry with a touch of dark bread crust lingering on the palate.

M: medium to medium full body with a velvety mouthfeel. Low carbonation.

O: WOW. This is one beautiful malty treat. It's got the perfect amount of roast and coffee with just a hint of chocolate sweetness. The hop base, gives a mild bitter underpinning while still letting the malt steal the show. This is the perfect beer for those who don't like the full body of a stout but want a stout character. A definite winner.

a very nice $1.79 spent... coco, coffee, malty nose. dark toasted oats, roasted nuts dominate the flavor with a slightly creamy mouthfeel. Nice malts coming through and a wonderful coffee finish. couldn't really notice any significant hops presence, as the coffee rules the finish. A nice porter and very nice for the price.

Ok folks, note the suggested serving temperature. If you drink this cold, it is a mess. Enjoy the beer slightly below room temp to catch all the nuances.

Appearance - The beer was a brownish-black color with a slight white head.

Smell - The aroma was largely that of malts and burnt sugar. When I had this one cold, I did not really notice anything interesting about the aroma.

Taste - The initial taste demonstrated the malts, burnt sugar, and a little hint of dark chocolate. Some drinkers may note the presence of dark fruits and bread. Toward the back, the aftertaste runs dry. The burnt sugar leans more toward the tart side, almost like drying the tongue with a wet paper towel.

Mouthfeel - This is a very smooth and creamy porter, almost as though it is on Nitro right from the bottle.

Overall -This is an excellent example of the style. I tend to think of English Porters as being slightly sour. This beer lacks that element. Other than this flaw, it is very enjoyable.
