Poured from an 11.2oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a moderately dark brown with a minimal light tan head that dissipates quickly and leaves behind minimal lacing. Not the most attractive beer I've ever seen, but it's not bad.

Smells of toffee, caramels, some chocolates, malts, and a layer of heavy minerals that's somewhat odd, but also kind of refreshing.

The main body of the taste is heavy, watery caramels--not too complex, but still relatively pleasing. There's a follow up of the mineraly flavors and a good deal of sweetened coffee. It's very standard and very light, but not necessarily in a bad way.

Very light mouthfeel, with moderate carbonation and a sort of fluffy consistency that goes down extremely (read: dangerously) easily.

It's extremely drinkable and mild, and though that's not what I come to in a porter usually, it's refreshing, and ultimately a successful beer that serves as somewhat of a standard benchmark to judge others in the style against, for better and for worse.

Poured into a pint glass. A very dark ruby, almost black with a two finger creamy tan head. The head sticks around to the end. Moderate lacing.

Smokey sweet tasted malt smells. Molasses and caramel as it warms. Roasted malt in the taste. Dark chocolate. Very complex. There is much more going on here. A mild dry hop finish.

Very smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Lighter than expected. A pretty good porter. Smooth and well balanced. Interesting flavour profile.

Presentation: 11.2oz brown pop top, nice raised glass, classy, simple label. I've said it before and I'll say it again...THANK YOU Fullers, for putting dates on your beers that are imported to the States. This one's best by date is 2-13-12. Poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass.

Appearance: Dark cola-colored beer with bright clarity and beautiful garnet highlights when held up to the light. Nice light tan cap with pretty good retention.

Smell: Mild roast, lots of brown malt, and a hint of dark fruit esters and minerality. Not much if anything in the way of hops. Simple, but pleasant.

Taste: Dry, mildly bitter roast, along with a lot of brown malt character. This is a fairly bitter beer, a bit more than I was expecting, but it goes nicely with the roasted character.

Mouthfeel: Firmly on the light side of medium-bodied, HIGHLY drinkable.

Overall: Really nice English-style porter with a nice balance of brown malt charater, roasted malt, and mild dark fruit esters. Quite drinkable. It runs about $12.00 a sixer. At that price point, it's certainly not something I'd buy regularly. Nice counterpoint to many American Robust Porters, but a bit 2-dimensional and lacking just a bit of depth. I'd give this a mid-high B: something I'd purchase every once in awhile for a change of pace.

Poured into a beer mug.

A: Pours a very dark red body with a one-finger, mocha colored head that features decent retention and lacing.

S: Some roast, caramel, brown sugar, chocolate, and toffee. This smells amazing, to be honest.

T: Very roasty up front, featuring caramel and coffee sneaking up on the back end. I will say, the coffee finish is a little disagreeable with me, but otherwise, it's great tasting.

M: Nicely creamy, medium bodied, yet it features high carbonation, as well. Good combination. The finish isn't that dry, which helps keep the bitter aftertaste in check.

O: Though I can't justify buying this stuff everyday at $13 a six pack, this is still a great session porter overall. Thumbs up.

Pours out a dark brown almost black color with a sticky looking head. The smell is immediately bittersweet cocoa and coffee and again the vinous smell that I get from these English ales. It is nice roasty smell of a deliciously dark rich porter. The taste is wonderfully complex and rich. I'm getting plenty of dark chocolate notes, coffee, smoke, and some sweetness like a toasted marshmallow. The hops are in the background adding a nice finish. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. This is a superb Porter which most should be judged against.

11.2oz bottle.

A- Pours a deep brown color with a thin off-white head that leaves some lace.

S- Roasted charred malt and loads of toffee. A slight whiff of coffee in there as well.

T- Very similar to the nose with a roasted black coffee flavor and creamy rich bittersweet chocolate coming through as it warms. The alcohol is well hidden and the sweetness in the finish is balanced out by the bitterness of the coffee flavors.

M- Medium bodied with medium/low carbonation. Smooth feel.

O- Overall a very delicious English Porter. I don't think it would be a stretch to call it one of the best of it's style.

Served in pint glass

Enjoyed at Churchill Arms on Christmas Eve.

A: Deep brown. 1.5 (mocha) fingernail head.

S: Dark roasted malt, chocolate, toasty, caramelised brown sugar, vanilla, and hint of coffee. Beautiful.

T: Just like it smells...complex and well-rounded. Very nice.

M: Medium-full bodied and medium carbonation.

O: A very nice and enjoyable brew. Smooth, toasty, big, and robust. Think it should definitely be enjoyed on-draft though. Great job Fuller's!
