500 mL can, slightly chilled and poured into a pint glass
Appearance- Pours a clear light amber colour, careful pour yields about a pinky fingers worth of soapy white head that very quickly dissipates to a tiny little ring around the glass leaving almost no lacing to speak of throughout till finish.
Smell- Very bready aromas coming from this one right away, very sweet as well with a nice caramel malt smell, mixed with earthy grassy hops. Other than that there’s not really much else going on here on the nose.
Taste- Is pretty much the same as the aromas, very bready on the palate and very sweet as well coming through with that caramel malt again, earthy grassy hops still present in the tastes as well. Overall a very well balanced ale although a tad on the sweet side, even though apart from these three flavours there is really not much else going on.
Mouthfeel- Light to medium bodied this one finishes very clean and crisp with a distinctively bready malt characteristic, good carbonation as well.
Overall- Not the best, not the worst I’ve tasted by a long shot, this is a very smooth and easy drinking ale that you could easily sit down a session all night. The sweetness of it though might put some people off as the bread and caramel malt flavours really dominate this one from start to finish, although I must say the flavours are very well balanced. A very quality ale although I wouldn’t rate this one world class by any stretch of the imagination, more on the above average scale I would say, I would drink this one again though and Fuller’s seems to have very solid offerings, I actually really enjoyed their porter and ESB, this is just another win for them.
