A - Amber color, nice creamy head.

S - Clean and crisp, hopsy.

T - Mainly - hopsy. There are some caramel and citrus notes

M - Medium bodied, wet on the finish. Very Refreshing

O - Very nice beer, but it would be better if there were more hopsy bitterness

Plus side: Nice deep orange color. Thick and opaque. Smells malty and sweet like a Fullers.

Overall: Total disappointment. A very "dead" beer. Tiny head, large bubbles, almost non existent lacing. More sour than bitter. Was there hops in here?... I couldn't tell. Certainly wouldn't have survived the boat ride to india. Could be more suitably labeled a plain old pale ale.
Nice to look at but if you plan on doing more than smelling it you'd best grab something else.
Gets a 1.5 for being better than a budweiser.

This has sat in the cellar for 1.5 years now, golden brown colour, pours nicely, little head left. Aroma very low citrus and hop notes... This is a very smooth ale, and IPA though, the abv is a little low for my liking but fits the defined range, but more so, the hop note as per tongue feel is low. This is a clean beer, fine in taste, I don't no, I was expecting a little more from this though.

Props to joecgrath27 for including in my recent Hop Box delivery.

A - Pours a clear golden colour, finger of head with se retention and some sporadic lacing.

S - Scent is a tad mild, but some buttery caramel comes through alongside some leafy greens and hints of citrus.

T - The buttery caramel comes through off the top, nice subtle earthy hop notes, musty greens and a touch of citrus bitterness.

M - Medium bodied, smooth and wet on the finish.

O - A tasty brew and certainly fits the flavour profile of the style, offering a nice balance between hops and malts. Well worth a try and definitely glad it was included in my latest shipment.

500ml bottle poured into pint glass 16/9/12

A clear dark golden liquid with lots of tiny bubbles feeding a dense thumbs width of foam that slowly falls too a thick film leaving a couple patches of lace

S lots of caramel and grains, some cotton candy a little citrus and more caramel

t herbal notes, and a bigger hop presence then the nose, well balanced with perhaps caramel flavors coming from both the English malt and English hops, bready notes and pretty well rounded

M silky medium bodied and the tiny bubbles are paying off here, quite creamy after a second and it leaves me salivating, nice aftertaste has some length

O a nice example of the style, well balance with lots of flavors, its a well made product

picked this up for 3.99$ on sale at the Co-op and it was worth every penny. I like fullers and if you like English ales you probably do to.

BB Mar 13 - from Warners

Pours a clear gold/copper. One finger head off white. Small bubbels rise, little lace.

Aromas mainly of earth English malts.

Taste is more complex, a delicate marmalade flavour takes over, which is complemented on the back palate by light hop bitterness. A little caramel and toffee. Very integrated and smooth.

Mouthfeel is medium/light and lightly carbonated. No twang thankfully, which seems the bugbear of English ales in bottes at present.

Top beer, suspect would be excellent for a session if price allowed.

look ~ pours a rich gold to light gamboge. I'd classify the level of clarity as 'hazy': I can see through the glass, but not clearly enough to read through. The head was nice: pearl colored; somewhat soapy in texture; rises very large off the pour; falls slowly with some decent lacing. Good visible carbonation.

smell ~ very clean and crisp, though not very strong. the malt is light: there is not a lot of caramel, but rather a very faint cracker aroma. The hops seem to be a bit fruity (which may be supported by yeast): this seems almost lemony, or like light seeded fruits. There is also a bit of spice on the finish and a gentle sulfur character. Very nice, but a little light (both in terms of strength and character) than I would have expected.

taste ~ the taste was decently balanced, but not all that impressive. The malt character was similarly gentle and boasted a lighter biscuit-like character with a bit of toffee sweetness noticeable on the finish. Hops were simply not present enough: there was a gentle fruity and floral character, but this was not really present in the finish. Bitterness was decent and enough to achieve a balance with the sweetness on the finish. finish has a hint of both sulfur and diacetyl and is medium rather than dry.

feel ~ very smooth feel. Medium-light body and high carbonation. This makes for a fluffy feeling that plays well with a bit of that mouth-coating feel. Carbonation also dries out the finish a bit.

Overall, I was a little disappointed that there was not more of a hop presence. This one drank like a lot of English Pale Ales, rather than a true IPA. I nice drink, smooth and well balanced, but I want more hops!

Appearance: Slightly hazy, light copper/amber, pours a lovely thick head.

Aroma: Very mild, surprisingly. Typical IPA hops can be detected, maybe a hint of floral aroma, but very little to it.

Taste: Quite mild in terms of the hops (Goldings hops), but they do kick in a little bit in the aftertaste, which is nice and lingering. The really surprising thing about this beer is the maltyness though; this is something that I don’t expect from an IPA. I do actually like it, there’s a nice balance between the hops and the malt. Then again, when I open a bottle of IPA I expect something a little more on the hoppy side.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, good balance.

Overall: I’m used to extremely hoppy IPAs from my visits to North America, so this one seems a little tame. A very drinkable beer though, would try again if there weren’t any other interesting options. This is also bottle conditioned, so it matures nicely in the bottle (this gives it the slightly cloudy appearance as well). I like many of the beers by Fuller’s — their London Porter is among my very favourites — but I don’t think I’ve tried this one before. Usually Fuller’s delivers, even if they are not the most inventive or experimental brewery.

Very good ale. Smooth and tasty. served in a good indian restaurant.

App: Poured a murky, cloudy dark-yellow color. Nice white head but not a lot of lacing

Smell: Great rich smell, smells of hops and old-fashioned sweets (like toffee or caramel)

Taste: Very much like the smell, good beer flavor, joined up by touches of toffee and caramel. Nice aftertaste too.

Feel: So Smoooth. It goes down easy, very little carb sting. You can have em one after the other just because of that great smooth feel.

Overall: Though I'm usually a bit put off by pale ales, this one was superb. Great beer

Review from 12-6-11. Initial review was put under the wrong beer.

Bottle date: 28JUN13. Poured in to Founder's tulip glass.

A - Light orange/yellow colour, translucent. Half a finger of bubbly white head that quickly receded to a ring around the glass. Carbonation appears moderate.

S - Moderate bitterness up front with floral and grassy aromas and a mild caramel/bready malt backbone.

T - A decent hop bitterness up front with herbal, floral and grassy notes. The malt backbone is evident but somewhat subdued, providing muted bready flavours and a touch of caramel. There is also some peppery/spicy flavour at times. The bitterness returns in the a dry finish.

M - Medium body with a nice chew. Moderate carbonation.

O - A solid English IPA.

Bottle from the LCBO, best before June 28, 2013. Into a tulip.

Pours a peachy orange, a bit of haze but this is obviously bottle conditioned. Big bubbles composing a white head. Moderate retention, webbed lacing. Nose has prominent orange and citrus on the nose, some light caramel. A bit of grainy bread. A bit of bitterness, but the hop profile on this is quite a bit more prominent than almost any EIPA I think I've ever had. Taste has more gently bitter orange, grapefruit and other citrus. Some general citrus rind as well. Good clean bread and biscuit, a simple and effective malt profile, hops are highlighted. Body is medium-light, a bit watery. Bitterness isn't substantial in the finish. Quite a solid EIPA, but isn't totally outstanding. One of the better examples of this I've had though, very nice stuff.

Medium brown with an amber/orange hue. Pale beige head is well retained and laces spottily. Aromatic notes of lightly toasted bread and orange marmalade. Sweet and malty up front with toasted bread, bicuit, and honey notes. Delicate sweet apple comes in midpalate. Finishes with tangy tangerine, a hint of grapefruit pith, and lingering bitterness. Medium-bodied with low carbonation, it's mouthfeel is smooth and soft. Light oily slickness between mouthfuls. A well made pale ale with a great balance of malt and hop flavours.
