Bottle: a fantastic solid brown embossed brown 500mL bottle with a stylish label. A nice package.

Appearance: pours a clean light amber in colour with a fluffy off-white head that settles to a thin cap. Limited lacing.

Aroma: an awkward combination of light grains and honey. Just smells like beer with honey poured into it.

Taste: I will admit that I have never met a honey beer that I like, and this seems like more of the same. An okay bitter hop and malt flavour behind, but the honey just doesn't seem to integrate into the other flavours at all.

Aftertaste: fortunately the honey flavour dissipates quickly, leaving only a touch of hop bitterness.

Mouth feel: the mouthfeel is crisp and clean, with a decent level of carbonation.

Overall: euch! I really don't understand honey beers. Most of them just taste like this one - a pretty ordinary beer that tastes like it has had warmed honey poured into it. Pretty awful stuff. At least this ordinary stuff would only be AU$130+ per equivalent case of 24 x 330mL bottles. Seriously, Fullers??

Poured into a imperial nonic a medium golden with a tinge of burnt orane,a 1/2 finger white head that had good definition atop.Mild aromas, mainly some hard water and biscuit malt.Flavors are lightly sweet with biscuit malt mainly standing out,a yeasty fruitiness is pleasant, not much hop presence to be had.Standard and no frills here but its quaffable, and food friendly.

500ml bottle....golden pour medium head...the nose is bready and grainy, some sweet notes. Taste was a little metallic, some malts & grainy bits....corn sweetness maybe? Lingering bitter-sweetness, not overly pleasant Light bodied, crisp & light mouthfeel. To be honest i can't give this very good drinlkability makrs. With every sip i'm constantly reminded of mediocre lables like Lakeport Honey Lager etc etc....it was dosappointing compared to Fuller's other offerings.

Serving date: 2009-02-19. Served in snifter.

Presentation: 500 ml bottle with freshness date (best before 2010-01-08) and some suggested food pairings on the label.

Appearance: Pours a very clear pale copper color with a 1 cm head that dissipates way too quickly. Minimal lacework.

Smell: Caramel, plenty of honey and faint notes of dry earth. A very sweet smell all in all, with a distinct genuine honey character. However, the smell is rather restrained.

Taste: Very reminiscent of the smell. Mostly honey, biscuit and caramel malts, earth and a metallic taste in the middle. Some grassy hops as well. The finish is first and foremost short (a moment away from a sip, I basically can't tell I'm drinking a beer) but has some grassy (nettles?) hop flavors to it. Minimal bitterness. The finish is also slightly dry and together with the earth and grassy flavors, this makes the beer seems slightly harsh. In general, the flavors in this one are too restrained, and there's not much going on at all.

Mouthfeel: Moderate body with semi-sharp bubbles. I actually think its level of carbonation is to high.

Drinkability: I wasn't expecting much from this, but still I feel a bit disappointed. As noted, its too restrained and actually comes out a bit bland. It lacks complexity and since there is nothing backing up the honey flavors, these become too dominating. Further, the flavors don't mix that well either. The honey clashes with the earth and the malts get disturbed by the metallic flavors I got. In short, it tastes like beer with honey, not honey beer - and in theory there is a big difference between the two. It was fun to try it, but I would buy it again. However, it should get some credits for the way the honey tastes - like real genuine honey.

NOTE: ABV is 5% according to the bottle.

Had on tap at the British Beer Company Cedarville

Appearance: clear, gold, 1/4 inch head, medium carbonation

Smell: honey and toasted malt

Taste: The honey really pops on this one. There is also toasted malt and grass.

Mouthfeel: oderate carbonation, light bodied..sweet with a slightly bitter backbone.

Drinkability: The honey really jumps out in this one. It almost tastes like a sweet pilsner. Not an overly complex brew, but very sessionable...Great for a warm day.

On cask at Kickoff in Waterloo.

Pours a slightly opaque golden with a thin ring of head and some lacing, but not much.

Nose is more on the lager end of the spectrum, with honey and floral malts.

The taste is smooth and sweet. I wouldn't say it's exactly "honey", but there's certainly a "spring" character to this brew. Light and refreshing.

Carbonation is low (it is on cask afterall), nice and smooth body. Almost too heavy, actually.

Lacking in complexity, but fairly enjoyable. Certainly worth a go on draught.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Nov 2012. Brewed with organic ingredients - the label claims that this is the UK's most popular organic beer.

Poured into a straight pint glass. A golden-amber colour with faint haze and medium carbonation. Forms a large head of white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding. Aroma of light malt, a hint of sweet, earthy honey and some very mild floral notes. Not too much going on.

Tastes of sweet, light malt with a hint of honey. Subtle notes of fruity ale yeast, faint caramel, mild honey and stewed hops. A slight floweriness in the background. Dry and slightly sugary. No bitterness to speak of. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and tingly, with nicely judged carbonation. Aftertaste of faint malt/honey.

An OK honey beer, though nothing special. Quite light in aroma and flavour, though the honey comes through. Would probably be alright on a hot day, but frankly there's not enough going on to hold my attention. Worth trying but no need to seek it out.

Appearance: crystal clear; purest gold colour; decent, white head

Aroma: sweet, bready malt; floral hints

Taste & Mouthfeel: silky texture and very clear honey flavour that rises up to dominate in the finish - the combination of which fits the name perfectly; medium-light body, ditto for the carbonation; some caramel and creme brulee flavours come to mind; surprisingly, not overly sweet

Overall: another success from Fuller's - flavour is spot on, great mouthfeel - fantastic summer brew

Pretty good, one of the best of the honey beers (better than youngs waggledance), slightly sweet honey-like start, decent malty middle, a few bready sort of notes, and a decently hoppy finish (slight citrus), my only problems were the slight sweetness, and general lightness of the beer, but besides that, i have no problems.

Pours a very vibrant blonde with an intense white foam head which dissipates into a thin layer atop the brew. Decent lacing. Smells very pleasant; earthy hops, malt, honey sweetness. Taste is also very nice; honey sweet with a present malt backbone. Slight floral/honey aftertaste which doesn't bother me at all. I could drink this one all night without a problem.

500ml bottle, at Metro Billiards in downtown Edmonton.

This beer pours a clear, rather pale golden amber hue, with two fingers of fuzzy, bubbly, and somewhat soapy dirty white head, which leaves little beyond some sparse specks of islet lace around the glass as it quickly fades away.

It smells of sweet, grainy, partially caramelized pale malt, neutered field honey, a touch of bready toffee, and earthy, floral hops. The taste is semi-sweet, bready pale malt, a softly grassy, kind of hollow honey essence, and somewhat astringent floral hops.

The carbonation is generally quite soft and innocuous, the body medium-light in weight, and mostly smooth. It finishes off-dry, not so surprisingly, as the grain and honey stay on the down-low, and the musty floral hops balance things out.

This is a pleasant enough offering, the honey employed deftly, I suppose, and agreeable in a drink the whole bottle sense, and never approaching cloying, always an asset when considering any sort of honey beer.

Deep, shiny gold in colour. Tight white head settles to a thin cap, leaving little lace. Delicate honey aroma with light biscuit and floral notes. Tastes like honey spread over lightly toasted white bread, finishes with subtly lemony hops. Low bitterness. Balanced and quite crisp, with very little aftertaste. Shy of medium-bodied, with light carbonation. While the flavour is quite simple, it delivers on the promise of its name and yellow-honeycombed, bee-adorned label. Nice beer.

Light honeyish colour with good fresh head. very subtle hop and honey smell. Easy drinking session ale. Not too sweet, and the hops are under the honey's constraint. Satisfying, drying aftertaste, with drops of burning honey on the lips.
Had on tap at Twisted Kilt 2.4 years later and it was honeyish, decent mouthfeel.

Had a pint at the Anchor and Crown in Monterey, CA. I will say, for a honey beer this has a nice distinct clover honey aroma and flavor that doesn't overpower or over-sweeten the beer. There's still a mild pale ale in the background with a little grassy lemon hops and bready malt. Not a bad beer for the summer.
