Poured from bottle into a standard pint glass.
Chill-hazed gold in color, with a big cloud-deck of off-white foam.
Aroma-Faint toasted malt, hop note
Taste-Herbal, earthy hops, touch of spicy yeast. Subtle flavors in the English fashion. Very drinkable and refreshing.

500ml bottle dated best before July 17th, 2014. Poured into Imperial nonic. Slightly hazy medium-gold color with a frothy off-white head. Moderate retention and splotchy lacing.

Aroma is biscuity malts with floral and earthy hops. Light spicy hoppiness. Slight grassiness, controlled diacetyl buttery aromas, and cracked grain. Ever so slight hint of fruity esters.

Flavor is light and well-balanced, leaning slightly towards the malty side. Buttered biscuit and fairly grassy/earthy. I have a feeling that this is supposed to be slightly hoppier, but since we're still before the best by date (even if just barely), I don't feel bad about reviewing. Slightly dry, spicy finish.

Mouthfeel is especially pleasant. Medium bodied and light-medium carbonation, about fitting for a bottle-conditioned English IPA. Soft and creamy mouthfeel

Overall, this is a good but not thrilling beer. My palate tends to lean towards English styles, but Bengal Lancer doesn't excite even me. Perhaps a fresher bottle may change my mind.

Medium light colour. Thin liquid. Only a slight aroma, delicate and floral. Very light floral bitter initial mouthfeel. Slightly sweet back bone with a very mild malt flavour. Nice mild dry/bitterness.

Not going to knock you off your chair but lots to love about this beer. Beautiful, delicate, floral, magic.

Very good beer

16.9 oz bottle into a pint glass.

A: Pours a semi-clear copper color. The head is three fingers high, and barely off-white in shade. It has pretty decent retention and an inconsistent texture that betrays a solid hop profile. Quite a bit of lacing is left on the glass. This one looks pretty damn good.

S: As soon as I crack open the bottle, I get a nice whiff of stone fruits. While the nice fruitiness stays the course, it's joined by some slightly minty hops. The malt is prevalent - bringing some solid toffee notes - but stays just restrained enough as to not obstruct the other qualities. I'm really enjoying the nose a lot.

T: This is a soft, subtle beer in many aspects. Caramel malts open this one up, but at no point is this beer overly sweet. It has a gently hopped finish, providing notes of apricot, earth, mint, and pine. Even some welcome cream sneaks into the back end. The problem with this beer is that it's subdued in general - it's pleasant, don't get me wrong, just a bit bland.

M: I really like how airy and dry this feels on the tongue - it practically evaporates on my palate. In spite of this, and the decent carbonation, it's unbelievably creamy and soft on the palate. I wish most 'Murican IPAs felt this good on the tongue. Come to think of it, I'm drinking this beer more for its excellent mouthfeel than its flavor profile.

O: The flavor is a bit lacking, but everything else about this beer delivers. If this beer was even a little bolder, it would be a genuinely great IPA. This would be a great offering for beginners who hate bitterness - it's not over-malted, has decent hop flavors, along with a genuinely soft feel. Definitely worth sampling, and I might even buy it again.

Bought a case of 12 500 ml bottles from Beers of the World for $ 56.39 on 3/02/14. Poured into a nonic, served cool.

appearance: hazy, apricot shade of amber with a one finger French Vanilla colored head. Creamy coat of lacing.

smell: classic English Pale aroma of fruitiness with a mild earthiness.

taste: thick bready malt with a n orange marmalade mix of sweet and bitter.

mouthfeel: slippery but solid. Excellent.

overall: the epitome of English beer. Exquisite.

Brilliant, deep gold color with a foamy, white and persistent head; some foam clinging down the length of the pint glass. Lightly toasted grain scent; biscuit and crackers; infused with a sweet, grassy, and faintly citrus hop aroma. Subtle malt flavors rounded out with a nice hop bitterness at the finish. Medium bodied; clean, crisp and dry.

A respectable English-styled IPA all-around. The hop bittering comes across just about right, flavor-wise, yet the malt taste seems a little weak. Still, it drinks easily, looks decent, and would make a nice session ale.

Reviewed from notes. Poured this 16.9 oz thick brown bottle into a SN hops tulip glass. The best by date was Nov. 19, 2014. I drank it August 2013, pretty fresh! The body was clear and apricot colored. The creamy tan head remained.

The smell was fruit - fresh plums and apples. Wheat bread.

The taste was reflective of the aromas. Fruity with a lightly bitter finish. Clean and bright. Easy to drink. I enjoyed this more than most of the English IPAs I consume. Nicely done.

The mouthfeel was medium with plenty of carbonation. I would gladly have another.
