Hey, this isn't bad at all (didn't expect failure necessarily). Would easily classify this among the "Irish Dry" stout variety, though being a straight draft pour, plenty more character than most of its counterparts.

Really dark brown, but mostly clear. Off-white head keeps for a good while. Roasted barley is the true centerpiece of the beer - naked, raw. One may, as I did, detect subtle hints of molasses and black licorice, in varying presence on the nose and tongue. Beginning of a thick blend of the roasted and pale malts in flavor. Quite full-flavored - licorice and bitters up front, acrid-yet-silky roasted barley carrying midway through the finish. All the while, a strong cookie-ish malt foundation. Clean and dry enough. Could drink a few of these in succession. Though not unique, it's of course superbly executed.

500 ml bottle with a stamped BB date of 6 Jan. 2014.

Clear, very dark red-brown; opaque in the pint glass.

Aroma: fine but faint.

Feel: Medium body; medium+ (slightly too high?) carbonation.

Flavor: mild and light up front; some richness, mainly from dark malts, in the finish and aftertaste. A hint of coffee.

O: do not serve too cold: a richer and more complex flavor unfolds at warmer temps.

Deep black color with some red beams when exposed to light and a thin caramel head with short retention, but leaving some laces.
Light aroma of coffee, dark chocolate and nuts.
Flavor of roasted malts, earthy hops, strong coffee, a bit of licorice, nuts and cocoa, yeast and some muffled citrusy. Dry and bitter aftertaste with a lingering roasted note. Lightly acid and spicy sensation.
Medium body with appropriate carbonation.
Very good stout, dry and relatively unsweetened with nice roasted notes. Assertive, but not boring.

From the 650 ml. bottle. Sampled on March 8, 2014 and served around 45 degrees.

The pour is mainly dark mahogany brown but it does hovers around jet black, opaque look too. There is a long-lasting cream colored head that leaves a nice does of lacing as it fades and I drink it.

Subtle but in interesting aromas. Dark roasted malts, some black licorice, moderate sweetness, a little smoke, and water minerals.

Light to medium body makes it rather drinkable.

The taste also brings out the dark malts, sweetness, and caramel while the hop bitterness at the finish is a but more muted but definitely there. There is a dry lingering finish. Great pub beer! Bring it on!

Look: Lightly pours with a large, beautiful brown, thick, bubbly head. Slow retention, mostly diminishing, thin layer stays on top. Leaves good amount of lacing. Colour is clear black (with light red hue). Definitely a good looker.

Smell: Mostly milk chocolate malt, also some light sweet roast, biscuit, nut and some yeasty, herbal earthiness. Light and smooth.

Taste: Smooth light/medium chocolate roast, caramel, nutty middle which goes into light spike of roast, maybe hop bitterness that lingers with you in the after taste - enjoyable. Light acidity present, keeps if fresh yet that dusty fillings remains.

Mouthfeel: Light-medium, yet creamy body. Soft carbonation, kinda dry, you want another sip. Maybe a bit more body would do it good.

Overall: Easy chocolaty, roasty sipper. Nice balance - good stuff.

From Leura. BB July 14.

A - black, tan one finger short lived head, some lace.

S - muted, doughy malts, choc.

T - wow! Good and well balanced, so much more appealing than the London Porter. Choc everywhere, balanced, amazing long lingering aftertaste of choc n nut. Hint licorice.

M - nicely carbonated but not overdone, dances on tongue. Light medium weight.

O - a real surprise. Sweeter than I expected, but the balance is just wonderful. And a blast of flavour for a 4.5% beer.

At 4.5% ABV and 500 ml, this is a beer which shouldn't require you to call a cab after a bottle. But if you choose to do so anyway, call Fullers Black Cab. On to the beer:

The beer is black with ruby red hues along places as it sits in a glass. A decent head sits on top, okay retention and a few squirts of lacing. The aroma is soft, and at first is hard to get. The nose has a little molasses and a touch sweet. However, the beer is not as shy regarding its taste. It has a good overall flavor, complimented with molasses, unsweetened chocolate, raisins, and soft yeast. Furthering the joy is its light body and gentle carbonation.

No Black Cab for me to take me home after one of these, but I would tackle another bottle. A good lighter, easier drinking alternative to the brewery's London Porter.

500 ml bottle into pint glass, best before 2/28/2014. Pours nearly pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, toffee, roasted malt, biscuit, raisin, licorice, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of roasted malt and yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toffee, biscuit, coffee, raisin, licorice, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toffee, biscuit, coffee, licorice, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Very nice balance and robustness of roasted malt and yeast ester flavors; with a dry and roasty finish with no cloying flavors. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a moderately creamy and very smooth mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is a very good dry stout. Good balance and robustness of roasted malt and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Poured this 16.9 oz thick brown bottle into a SN hops tulip pint. This a beautiful bottle and a nice label. Dated best by: 30 Sept 13. Consumed well before this date. The body was a very dark cola color. The head was tan and a thin cap remained throughout.

The smell was brown sugar and Hersey Kisses.

The taste was nutty with some cocoa. Not too sweet. Very well balanced and very drinkable.

The mouthfeel was mildly creamy with a thin to medium body. This one puts me in mind of a porter rather than a stout. However, I like it despite how it is categorized.
