Brewed with the knowledge of London’s oldest family brewer, Fuller’s Black Cab is a rich, dark stout that transports you to a time gone by. London was famous for stouts in the 19th century - and we’re on a journey to make that the case again.

16oz glass at Beer Revolution YEGDT.

This beer appears a solid black, with prominent cola highlights, and one finger of loosely foamy, and generally wispy beige head, which leaves some unraveling webbed lace around the glass as things duly drop away.

It smells of roasted bready pale malt, a bit of dried stone fruit, wet ash, and leafy, earthy hops. The taste is more toasty pale and caramel malt, a touch of bittersweet chocolate, cold cinders, a soft pithy nuttiness, mild dry coffee notes, and earthy, dusty hops.

The carbonation is light, and plainly pleasant, the body a so-so medium weight, and a bit too edgy to be deemed all that smooth, though a hint of creaminess seems to punch through. It finishes just off-dry, the struggling malt sweetness giving it one last feeble hurrah.

A decent Irish Dry, the roastedness and fuller (hah!), rounder mouthfeel (when compared to you know who) making for an enjoyable tipple. It is nice to sip on a stout and not feel the heat, as well. Worthy of this convivial yuletide pub atmosphere, I must say!

From notes.
Poured a 500ml bottle .

Pours black with a thick, creamy mocha head . The smell is mellow and dominated by burnt malt. The taste is mellow , a creamy bitterness, nice sweetness, burnt malt , a slight hint of coffee. Rich but not overwhelmingly so . The mouthfeel is fizzy with a good viscosity.
Overall, a good , flavourful stout.

Pours a large frothy 2 finger tan head with great retention, frothy thick lacing, very dark just about black color

Nose nice dark roasted malt up front, some coffee, little dark chocolate, baking spices, touch toasted biscuits,

Taste brings more roasted malts, not char like but a heavy roast, extra dark coffee, dark chocolate and cocoa, extra toasted biscuits, coffee cream with a bit of a creamy oatmeal note, some bitterness from roast and mild spicy earthy hops

Mouth is med bod, creamy, med creamy carb

Overall solid English stout, somewhere between oatmeal stout and porter, nice all around, as expected from Fuller's

500ml bottle.
L: Black with one finger of tan head that reduces to a ring and leaves some spotty lacing.
S&T: Smoky roasted malt and chocolate.
F: Lightweight.
O: A restrained, lightly dry, English stout. Tidy and enjoyable but not memorable.

Sample from bottle at Copenhagen Beer Festival. Very dark brown, nearly black colour, tan head. Aroma and flavour have mild roasty notes, mild coffee, chocolate. Silky smooth flavour, very pleasant to drink. Sure, there are "bigger" stouts out there, but this one is impossible to dislike.

50cl bottle, 3m bb.

Very dark brown with a ruby hue when illuminated. Medium thick dark beige head thins out quickly but leaves a nice creamy film.

Aroma is predominantly dark chocolate with a hint of herbal/spicy hops at the end. Appetizing.

Mouthfeel starts with just the right amount of carbonation, with sweet and creamy oats riding at the front. The chocolate takes on some espresso notes, but this is not very roasted at all. Subtle bitterness on the tongue. At the very end the roasted notes finally arrive, a bit hollow at this point.

Understated, but very well balanced. Not really dry, chocolate being the dominant flavour. Eminently quaffable. For those who appreciate a sense of proportion and design.

L- Effectively black, except at margins of the glass when held up right by a light. Pours with thin head that swiftly clears to smallest amount of lacing.
S- Roasted toasty grains, what you expect.
T- Toasty, quite dry, smokey-toasted grains at the end.
F- It does feel like a 4.5%, relatively light for a beer with this depth of flavour. It is refreshing.
O- I'm not a born stout/porter drinker. The few I've enjoyed have been at the heavier end of the ABV% scale, perhaps German Schwarzbiers? This is highly rated here so stout/porter fans might wish to overlook my rating.

From Labirratorium. 2 months after bbf date. In Teku glass. Watching X-Men 2. Really strong bitterness with herb grass notes. Starts sweet and light but ends up being fairly bitter, with some artificial note
