Poured a deep dark chocolate brown with some ruby highlights showing thru,a half finger lighter beige head head atop.Big dry roastiness in the nose and not much more than that,it's nice but really one sided.Big dry roastiness on the palate, earthy with some woodiness with underlying bitter chocolate that off sets the roast just enough. This is old school with its big roast and dryer tones.

On cask draught at Kickoff in Waterloo.

Poured into a Fuller's ale glass. Dark as coffee, thick-looking brew, with a half inch of sturdy, creamy foam. Sheets of lacing. Fine looking brew.

Nose is coffee, dry roasted malt, a bit of chocolate (dry), perhaps some molasses as well.

Fine English stout that has a good dryness without being oppressively dry, if that makes any sense. Easy to drink - this became my go-to for the rest of the evening. Nice roasted flavour, dry grain and finish, but with some coffee and chocolate lingering in the back.

Creamy, nice thickness to this. Carb on the cask pump is mild - since the brew is on the dry side, I don't mind the lower carb.

It's hard to put any stout or porter against Fuller's London Porter and expect to win, and I don't think this one does that, but a brew's job isn't to be "better" than something else. Each style has their own positive attributes, and this one has those in spades. This is a drier brew, and a damned sessionable one at that, and I likes it fine.

500 ml bottle with a stamped BB date of 6 Jan. 2014.

Clear, very dark red-brown; opaque in the pint glass.

Aroma: fine but faint.

Feel: Medium body; medium+ (slightly too high?) carbonation.

Flavor: mild and light up front; some richness, mainly from dark malts, in the finish and aftertaste. A hint of coffee.

O: do not serve too cold: a richer and more complex flavor unfolds at warmer temps.

16oz glass at Beer Revolution YEGDT.

This beer appears a solid black, with prominent cola highlights, and one finger of loosely foamy, and generally wispy beige head, which leaves some unraveling webbed lace around the glass as things duly drop away.

It smells of roasted bready pale malt, a bit of dried stone fruit, wet ash, and leafy, earthy hops. The taste is more toasty pale and caramel malt, a touch of bittersweet chocolate, cold cinders, a soft pithy nuttiness, mild dry coffee notes, and earthy, dusty hops.

The carbonation is light, and plainly pleasant, the body a so-so medium weight, and a bit too edgy to be deemed all that smooth, though a hint of creaminess seems to punch through. It finishes just off-dry, the struggling malt sweetness giving it one last feeble hurrah.

A decent Irish Dry, the roastedness and fuller (hah!), rounder mouthfeel (when compared to you know who) making for an enjoyable tipple. It is nice to sip on a stout and not feel the heat, as well. Worthy of this convivial yuletide pub atmosphere, I must say!

A really nice stout. I loved the bottle with Rolls Royce looking black cab on the label.
As for the beer, it looks like a stout.
Black in color with a tan head.
Roasted malt smell.
Taste is of roasted malts. Very dry.
Black Cab is a little on the heavy side, very filling and enjoyable.

An import with a discernible freshness date, huzzah! BBD of 06 Jan 14

Pours an effervescent mahogany with 2 fingers of tan head. Good head retention & lacing

S: Carob & roastyness

T: Follows the nose, slight figgyness & licorice notes, but roastyness dominates, plus dryness up front. Faint cocoa notes mix with roastyness, faint figgyness woody & leafy hops as this warms. Finishes dry, roasty, & a whisper of figgyness

MF: Medium body with slight carbonation, becomes fairly creamy

Easy drinker, spot on for the style would to try this on cask or nitro
