Assertively aromatic with molasses, brown sugar, and a touch of prune; there is also some caramel and breadiness. The body is a deep, orange-ish amber with an off-white head. The flavor upfront is a slightly sour, bread-like maltiness with a bit of toffee; there is some smooth alcohol, a raisin-like fruitiness, and some spicy, herbal hops. The body is somewhat light with subtle but crisp carbonation. The alcohol provides some warming.

Very flavorful in all the right ways. Deliciously malty. Not very bitter. The alcohol is quite noticeable.

Grabbed this one at a pub in Paddington. Thin beige cap over a bronze, clear beer. Decent retention with some clinging bubbles. Super fruity aroma, dried fruit like raisins and figs, along with a nearly tropical character and sturdy biscuit malt base. Solid bitterness didn't get in the way of fruity and malty flavors, as well as a bit of alcohol. Nicely balanced between hops, malt and yeast. A bit bready, biscuit, slight caramel, dried fruit. Full bodied with low carbonation, a bit drying, malty texture. I enjoyed this quite a bit. I'd love it if this was easier to get on the other side of the pond.

500 mL bottle poured into a straight sided glass.

Appearance - Deep golden body. Big off white head. Retains forever. Clings inside the glass.

Smell - Sweet smelling. Fruity and malty. Caramel and raisins, but it's a lighter fruitiness than other barleywines.

Taste - Pretty hoppy. Right up front. Sweet pale malts. Grapefruit hops. Fruity, caramelly, and sweet into the finish, which has a hop bite.

Mouthfeel - Sweet and medium heavy. Well carbonated.

Overall - Very flavorful, but pretty sweet.
