Poured into a pint.

Crystal clear with a two finger head that leaves a wispy layer behind without any lacing. Doesn't smell repulsive but is certainly very generic: some malts and that seems to be about it. Taste instantly deports me to my earlier days of drinking beer: notes of The Library and Sally's Saloon. In more concrete terms, it tastes very generic with some maltiness, slight bitterness at the end, and a generally clean character. Plus the yucks. Thin, watery, carbonated. Also, can't tell whatever happened to real Wisconsin honey. It is what it is. And it ain't any good.

Poured into a shaker pint glass.

Look: Crystal clear golden body, slowly rising bubbles. White foamy head that recedes to a film, no lacing.

Aroma: Metallic, grains, corn husk?

Taste: Cereal grain body, barely a touch of honey, and a sour finish.

Mouthfeel: Carbonated, semi-dry.

Overall: This tasted exactly like an American adjunct lager, with only a trace of anything resembling honey.

A: Crystal clear. At least they got this right for a Kristal.

S: Weiss? Nope Honey? Nope? Meh? Yep.

T: Huge disappoint here. No weiss tastes....no honey. Just a thin, watery, macroish taste.

M: Thin and carbonated.

O: One and done. Stop those ads making this sound like a good beer.

Bottle neck stamped MAY 30 11. Poured into a wine glass.

Appearance - Since this is a Kristalweizen, it's clearly a clear beer. Body on the golden side. Small white head with decent lacing and low to decent retention.

Smell - Very very slight banana. Not much else beyond that. Perhaps my senses are a bit dulled right now? I expected this beer to have a much more noticeable scent after having the Sunset Wheat also by the same brewer.

Taste - Very vague honey. Almost like a very watered down mead. Almost no flavor or alcoholic bite.

Mouthfeel - No crispness. Very very small bite. No effervescence. Mostly watery except for what little frothiness there is in the head.

Overall Drinkability - Seriously not impressed by this beer. Not one of Leinenkugels best. I definitely do not recommend this beer. I can see some redeeming qualities for BMC fans, but not for anyone with any palate development whatsoever.

This was a pale gold colored beer, looks like most macros you would find. No head to be found. Theres a pretty watery taste to this drink, along with a slight wheat flavor. This isnt something you would be looking for if youre looking for a good tasting brew. Maybe if its hot out and youre looking to put down a lot of drinks, but other than that stay away.

Looks like a regular boring lager - yellow & light foamy white head.

Heavy on the carbonation, starts with a grainy taste, some sweet honey like something, and leaves you with a thick bitter bite that you want to wash away. The mouthfeel is a million times too watery for a wheat beer.

I'm lost on the popularity of this beer? The marketing VP at Leinies s/ get a big raise, cuz there is no way this beer got this popular by its' taste alone. I can handle a couple glasses from a really fresh keg if someone else is buying but that's about the nicest thing I can say about it.

Pour: Light lager yellow color with two and a half fingers of fluffy white head that dissipated almost instantly, leaving no lacing on the glass.

Smell: Very faint with hints of honey and wheat malt. Very grainy/adjunct-type nose in there too.

Taste: Absolutely terrible. Overly sweet honey taste. No real wheat flavor here, honestly it tastes kind of like a macrolager with honey mixed in.

Mouthfeel: Light mouthfeel with an outrageously high amount of carbonation.

Drinkability: Struggled to finish the bottle. Just not enjoying it.

Final Notes: This beer was all-around bad. I did not like it at all. Yet another letdown by Leinenkugel's Brewery. Sad day.

Leinies fails again. But at least this is better than the Berry Weiss.
Honey....barely.
Weiss...not at all (at least no discernable traits).
Pours golden with a quick-to-dissapear foamy head.
Funky sweet smell. Not honey...not really malty. Mostly just faint corn syrup.
Taste is virtually absent. Light malts...hops in the finish. Whatever...
Forget this one.
Leinies continues to be Wisconsin's bastard son.
In some odd way...this beer reminds me of Corey Feldman. I am just not sure why this was/is popular around here.

Bottle: Poured a clean golden color ale with a large bubbly white head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma of honey and light wheat malt is mostly bland. Taste is dominated by light sweet honey malt with not much wheat being noticeable. Body is kind of light with good carbonation. Very bland and ordinary and almost taste like a macro.

This is the third beer I've had out of the "Leinie Lodge" sampler pack. I have yet to be impressed by any of the Leinenkugel beers I've had, and I was hoping this would break the streak. I like hefeweizens and I like honey so naturally I should like this, right? Wrong! For a beer touted as a "Honey Weiss," it sure did not live up to that billing.

This beer pours a clear golden color with no haziness. Two fingers of foam form and the head thins out, but the remainder of it lasts for about two minutes. Nothing too appetizing about the smell, which was mostly just a musty wheat smell. The mouthfeel was thin and fizzy. The taste had some crisp, light malts and some of that musty wheat character. Some paper/cardboard flavors show up in the process. The beer actually had a passable amount of citric hoppiness and there is a very subtle sweetness in the brew, however it didn't strike me as honey-like. Aftertaste had some lingering bitterness and graininess and the beer ended with no alcoholic warmth.

This brew tasted like a very average lager to me. If it had some honey for weiss qualities it would be a bit more enjoyable, but it almost seemed like false advertising. A very unmemorable experience.

Appearance: Crystal clear straw color with zero head. Looks like AAL.

Smell: Not impressive. Smells like adjuncts.

Taste: What taste? I can't make out any honey. It tastes like AAL. Not good.

Mouthfeel: Light... like water.

Overall: Stay away. I might drink one for free.

Weird!

So I've seen and heard about this beer quite often. I finally tried it and I really wanted to like it. However, this was just a deplorable attempt by Leinenkugal. The appearance is ok with not much of a head and no real lacing but the color may lead you to believe the are some layers of flavor in the glass. The scent is an overwhelming aroma of corn and every other type of cheap filler you can think. Call the smell rancid, skunky or just flat out cheap...it wasn't pleasant. The taste is so disappointing. I can't say it's too horrible as you can drink it...if your Nicholas Cage in "Leaving Las Vegas" and need a "fix" but the corn and grassiness hits you right of the bat and you then quickly get some nasty honey flavor. In my opinion there is balance here and it's all bad! The mouth-feel reminds me of tap beer from rusty pipes in a dive bar. Avoid this one! It's too bad , some of Leinenkugal's stuff isn't bad, but they crashed and burned on this one.

If I were served this beer in a blind taste I might not be quite as harsh, but for a beer that is marketed as a premium "craft" beer, this is a shameful product, really average beer at the price of good six pack. The flavor is muted, the mouthfeel flat, and aroma and aftertaste are pretty much MIA. I've had their northwoods lager and other phonies and would pretty much say the same thing: these beers are macro quality masquerading as micros.

This honey weiss does not improve much on their other pale wheat. It shares a similar yellow color and has a marginal beige head. The nose and taste were both light and grainy. A decent body has to open up to loose some of the carbonation. The honey flavor is a bit artificial to balance well.

Appearance: Clear medium gold with a medium-sized, fizzy, white, quickly and fully diminishing head that barely left any lacing at all.

Smell: Very mild. Light fruit and malts and that’s about it.

Taste: Sweet, with a light wheat flavor, lemon and a hint of honey. The finish is short and lightly bitter.

Mouthfeel: Thin body, watery texture, lively carbonation.

Drinkability: No this is not a great beer. Not really all that good either… but that bad. Just boring. But this price is nice, so you could spend more and end up with something worse I guess, but it’s still a beer I wouldn’t recommend bothering with. Not a good representation of the style either.

A: Thick white bubbly head. Very light in color. Looks watery.
S: Yeasty with hints of alcohol. Not really a pleasing smell.
T: Very very light. Alcohol flavor dominates which is weird given the low ABV. Yeast flavor on finish. Indeed it's beer but it tastes cheap.
M: Sits light and bubbly. A redeeming quality of this beer.

Overall pass on this for sure. There aren't really any good flavors to it other then the astringent alcohol and lingering yeast. Honey sweetness does not come through. A poor showing

A - Yellow with a golden tint. 3 Lines of bubbles trailing to the top. Head was disappointing with almost no lace. Really resembles a light lager.

S - Alcohol, malts, more alcohol. A trace of honey slips in right in the middle of the whiff. When the smells mix altogether, reminds me of a nice skunk.

T - Almost all malts. There is a wheaty undertone and it finishes with alcohol with an after thought of honey at the end.

M - A plus to this beer as it very light and crisp and finishes clean. Carbonation through the swig that finishes nice and leaves no trail that it was there.

D - Would not drink this beer again. This beer had good potential but did not live up to anything. Easily a below average brew.

I’m not a real Weiss beer fan, and this beer sure as hell didn’t convince me otherwise. Yellowish-red appearance with a nice head was about all it really had going for it. Not a bad tasting beer, but just not anything that made it special. Most likely won’t be drinking this again, since there are way too many beers that are so much better.

Wow, where to begin with this one. Leinenkugel has brewed some fine beers that I really enjoy (Red Lager, Sunset Wheat come to mind). So I figured why not try this honey weiss. This beer absolutly reeks! It more or less tastes like a water-down stale natural light! There was little to no head, mouthfeel was non-existent, and it looks like a Falls City Lager on its best day. I picked up a bottle while shopping at Target of all places. Stay clear of this one fellas. If you are gonna try something from Leinenkugel try anything but this.

I'm reminded of a Jerry Seinfeld bit about Grapenuts cereal. Jerry says: "What's the deal with Grapenuts? No grapes, no nuts!" Well allow me to ask "What's the deal with Leiny's Honey Weiss? No honey, no wheat!"

Sure, Honey Weiss pours a nice golden yellow. It has a sparkling white head that quickly disappears. But there's not much flavor or aroma to write about. What little taste there is certainly isn't offensive, but it's not what you'd expect from something called Honey Weiss.

If you don't want to be seen with a Budweiser or a Miller in hand and want to put on a "microbrew" facade, then perhaps this is the pale yellow beer for you. If you want real honey and wheat characteristics, look elsewhere.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

Extremely clean pour and appearance, even for a kristalweisen, with a short lived and lacy head.s

No hint of honey in the smell or the taste. I kind of expected that in a Honey Weiss.

More bitter than I expected for a Honey Weiss with a shot of hops in the aftertaste.

Dry finish. Could probably drink it on the hottest of July days, but only if nothing else was available.

12 oz bottle out of a six pack my buddy bought out of curiousity. Served up in a DFH shaped pint.

A: Poured a very pale, incredibly pale yellow. Very macro yellow. Incredibly macro yellow. The head was about a finger but it went away as quick as I poured it. No lace. Nothing. Lame.

S: Smell is a lot of corn presence. If it is a plus, the corn smells fresh and sweet. There is a slight honey scent, but it is incredibly faint. This smells like your basic lager.

T: Taste is very much of a pale lager. Lots of corn and grassy hops. The honey is very light and I suppose it sweetens this up a little. The beer is totally of a pale lager macro.

M: Light bodied brew with a very high carbonation. The carbonation makes this incredibly crisp and refreshing. The high point of this beer is that it is so easy to drink. No ABV going on here.

D: This beer is simple and a bit of a let down. If that is your thing, this the beer for you. Personally, if I want a macro, I'll buy a 12 pack of High Life for the price of this six pack. Flavors, look and smells are all basic and kind of crappy. This doesn't stand up the the style at all IMO. Not a fan, but hey, at least it doesn't have the crazy fruity pebbles flavor the Berry Weiss and Sunset Wheat had.
