A: Crystal clear. At least they got this right for a Kristal.

S: Weiss? Nope Honey? Nope? Meh? Yep.

T: Huge disappoint here. No weiss tastes....no honey. Just a thin, watery, macroish taste.

M: Thin and carbonated.

O: One and done. Stop those ads making this sound like a good beer.

This beer pours a clear yellow with half-inch head and lasting lace. The aroma is of citrus, honey, and flowers. It's flavor has lemon, vanilla, and honey notes. Well balanced. The mouthfeel is light and smooth. Leinenkugels Honey Wheat is a good beer, very dry, crisp, and refreshing. Recommended.

The beer pours a very pale golden color--almost anemically so--but had a nice cap of foam. The aroma is an admixture of lightly toasted malt and honey. The flavor profile is similar to the nose. The beer goes down easy, but the sweetness from the honey becomes a bit much more my tastes. The beer is a little light through the center and finishes with not more than a whimper.

The fact that I've seen advertisements for this beer was a big turn off for me. ALL of the beers I've seen ads for have turned out to be complete duds. This was no different.

Appearance was "kristal" clear, no head. Smelled of nothing really. You could tell a slight hint of the honey and weiss that is mentioned in the beer's name. Nothing more.

Taste was much of the same. Watery and flavorless. I would compare this more with an adjunct macro than to a filtered hefe.

Not a good beer at all in my opinion. Pass.

Poured into a pilsener. A very light straw color with really no head.

There is really not much of a smell to it, maybe a hint of honey?

Mouth? I'm drinking one as I write this, is thin with a little too much carbonation.

As far as taste goes, I've had a few kristall's and this isn't even close. there is no "sourness"? that should be in a weiss, even a kristall weiss.

All in all, I don't think I will buy this beer again, it just doesn't have much going for it other than you could drink a lot of this in one sitting.

I poured this beer into a perfect pint glass, it has a very small white fizzy head on it. The body is a nice golden color body. The smell is sweet of honey and some wheat. I don't taste any wheat, but i get a sweet start and a little hop finish to it, very crisp though. The mouth feel is nice and crisp on the tongue. Overall i think this is a good summer time beer.

Pale and transparent lemon color. Two fingers of frothy with head. Poor head retention and minimal to no lacing.

Sweet, slightly fruity smell. Some banana and lemon.

Not a whole lot of wheat flavor, just an underlying bread-like character. Mild honey sweetness, happy to say this characteristic does not dominate. Not much hop character. Vague fruit notes.

Light body. Adequate carbonation. Slick feel from the honey lingers in the aftertaste.

This stuff is alright. Less sweet than expected which is good. It is light and refreshing but lacks in complexity.

Served from 12 oz. bottle into weizen glass.

A: Darker clear golden yellow, with thin nearly white head.

S: Hints of sweet honey, but mostly grains and malts.

T: This beer tastes very much like a thicker version of an adjunct. Mild honey flavor which could be more. (I remember more) Clean/empty flavor that comes with a macro. No wheat flavor present.

M: Crisp and clean. Light to medium body.

O: Reading the description of a Kristalweisen, I suppose this beer fits the bill. In essence it's a combination of an AAL and a weiss beer. I am interested in trying others now.

Overall, it's easy to drink and pairs well with most foods. On the other hand, it's a bit boring and uninspiring.

It's been a few years since I last tried this beer. 12 ounce bottle poured into a pint glass.

A: Pale yellow, with thick white bubbles that settle very quickly. Almost reminds me more of a light lager than anything else.

S: I don't get any honey on the nose. Grainy malt with just a touch of fruity, grassy hops.

T: Grainy malt with just a touch of honey, and some lemon peel, followed by a touch of floral hops. There's also a metallic aspect to this beer I cannot get past. Crisp finish, with a slightly astringent aftertaste.

Notes: This light-bodied beer is another example of a product that is meant to be craft, but geared towards the mainstream crowd. Drinkable, and not horrible, but not a beer for my liking.

I cringe to see this grouped in with the Weihenstephaner Kristallweizen - that's a great beer, this ain't. Honey Weiss doesn't recall the style much - very thin, weak aroma, flavor and mouthfeel. Yeah, there's honey. Yeah, there's kind of a cereal, toasted wheat flavor. But you're really straining to get either - comes out mostly (but only minimally) in the aftertaste. This beer's just about as thin as any light lager - has a bit of a bitter, corny taste to it as well. It's okay drinking on a hot day, I'm sure, but don't look for much dazzlement on your tongue.

The Honey Weiss pours out at a crystal clear yellow color with a fizzy white head that leaves a little lacing in the beginning but trails off by mid glass. The smell is slightly sweet with a mix of grains and malts. The flavor of the beer doesn't scream honey like I would have liked it too. The taste is clean and fairly refreshing on a hot day though. The body of this brew is light and easy to drink. Overall I'm not the biggest fan of this brew but I wouldn't turn this beer away if it were offered to me.

Just cracked one of these on a great spring day...can't get much better for the bargain. Sure there's better beers but this one hits great price point and is a quality brew. Great notes of Honey...go figure. Just enough sweetness in it to get you through a warm spring/summer day. I'd take this over the Shandy any day....the shandy is too sweet and fills you up so fast. This is a great session beer.

Bottle neck stamped MAY 30 11. Poured into a wine glass.

Appearance - Since this is a Kristalweizen, it's clearly a clear beer. Body on the golden side. Small white head with decent lacing and low to decent retention.

Smell - Very very slight banana. Not much else beyond that. Perhaps my senses are a bit dulled right now? I expected this beer to have a much more noticeable scent after having the Sunset Wheat also by the same brewer.

Taste - Very vague honey. Almost like a very watered down mead. Almost no flavor or alcoholic bite.

Mouthfeel - No crispness. Very very small bite. No effervescence. Mostly watery except for what little frothiness there is in the head.

Overall Drinkability - Seriously not impressed by this beer. Not one of Leinenkugels best. I definitely do not recommend this beer. I can see some redeeming qualities for BMC fans, but not for anyone with any palate development whatsoever.

Poured into a pint glass.

A - Aside from the head, it looks like a lager with a clear yellow-gold body. Head has some staying power.

S - Honey, lemon and skunk. Pleasant and weird at the same time.

T - I don't know how to describe this. Very weird. I'm getting some light lemon peel with sweetness and maltiness. The finish is strange. Toothpaste?

M - Pretty watery.

O - Pales in comparison to the Sunset Wheat. If I wasn't a cheap ass in need of a buzz I would've probably set it aside.

This is a big time favorite back where I'm from, and is the "go to" craft option for those who really don't drink a lot of craft. So when I saw it down here, I had to get it again so I could remember how this beer tastes.

Smell is vegetal, with a small sweetness, which I'd assume to be the honey. Smells like a sweet macro, really.

Tastes like I'd expect. It has an adjunct-like taste in the body, perhaps cooked veggie, with a definite sweetness on top of it presumably from the honey. I will say that the honey makes what would otherwise be painfully boring a bit better. The wheat shows up in the back with a little lemon zing, wrapping the beer up pretty nicely.

Nothing special nor offensive. I doubt many BA's will seek this out. It's better than having macros, so if you're at a bar in the upper midwest and this is available, I'd say to go for it.

I bought a 12pk Summer Smapler cans from Woodman's in Janesville, WI in spring 2011.

Pours a very pale yellow color with quickly diminishing head. Has a decent scent of wheat to it. Taste it rather simple as it is basically a lighter flavored wheat beer. I'm really searching for the honey taste in it and can not find it. Definetly a summer beer, but essentially is just a glorified Miller Lite taste wise. Certainly not unique by any means.

Poured into a pint glass and it has a medium golden hue with a one finger head that disappeared very fast. Very little lacing.

The smell was malty and I really couldn't pick up hardly any honey smell which is surprising.

The taste is a sweet malty flavor with a feint hint of honey.

Overall its very drinkable but would have liked to had a stronger honey flavor. I would drink it again but only in a variety pack, I wouldn't buy a pack of just this beer.

Pale, straw golden here, with a massive head of white foam. Nice lace.

Honey and yeast in the nose.

Very sweet on the palate, with a heavy-handed honey tone. Light-bodied and almost adjunct-like. This one seemed thin and sweet.

Overall, not terrible, but not good either.

Grab the fishing pole and a cooler of these and you will have a great day. I do not know what it is but I always relate a Leinies to an outdoor activity. What's wrong with that? I guess it is not too bad. Honey and beer go together like PB & J. A great combination. This beer is a clean crisp and refreshing wheat beer. Not to exciting to look at or smell but it taste pretty damn good. Great session beer. My best friend from Minnesota likes to put a lemon with it.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass

Appearance: Clear golden yellow color with almost no head. Minimal white lacing. Mediocre carbonation.

Smell: Wheat, grainy malts, crackers, and honey.

Taste: Pretty much the same as the nose, very sweet.

Mouthfeel: Almost watery. Light bodied.

Drinkability: Very easy to drink. Sort of bland. Crisp and clean.

Ending notes: Overall, not too impressive. I didn't hate it, but I won't be getting this one again anytime soon. Average summer beer at best.

12-oz bottle poured into a weizen glass

A - very clear golden yellow beer under a thick 3-finger white head. The head melts away in average time, leaving ample lacing. A layer of white foam lingers on the top for quite a while.

S - lots of citrus (lemony), some wheat, and maybe a hint of honey

T - decent weizen flavor with a hint of lemon; fairly grainy and not much for hops; refreshing, would be great for a warm summer day

M - light-bodied and high carbonation

D - I could put down two or three of these with little effort.

If you've never had Leinenkugel's Honey Weiss, it's definately worth a try. I recommend Leinenkugel's Spring Variety Pack, which includes Honey Weiss.

Now here's a brew that makes me drool a little and say mmm. . .beer. There is nothing special at all about this beer. In fact the honey taste is either hidden very well or non-exsistant. This isn't a bad thing but makes this beer rather boring. This one is best enjoyed as a 12 pack. Honey Weiss goes down smooth and tastes pretty good.

A - Golden color. Not much of a head on this. Clear.

S - Disappointed. Expected honey or sweetness but not really getting it. Smells malty.

T - Again, its good but just bland. While the taste is of bread, and some sugary finish, there isn't honey flavor at all.

M - Smooth beer. Not heavy and very little carbonation.

D - A good drinker for the summer months.

It isn't a bad beer but not one I'd go after specifically.

Brown 12fl oz bottle, just out of date when reviewed. The third beer in my random weird tasting evening 28 Jan 2011.

Poured into my Westmalle chalice: Kristal clear body, bright, golden colour: head did a runner before I could take a look, thin collar after first sip.

Tried to detect some honey smells, but failed, no taste of honey either. The whole experience was a little bland to be honest, lacked any real flavours or individuality, just a boring brew with a name that promised a lot more than it gave.

I'll not be having another!
