A-Clear golden with thin head that quickly dissipates

S-A faint hint of barley/wheat like aroma with a touch of ethanol

T-upfront barley with a hint of sweetness, end note of clean hops that quickly cleans up begging you for another drink

M-Smooth, thin and easy to drink

D-Easy drinking, made for any occassion, a nice local beer.

I've drank a lot of this one in my day. My favorite from Leines. They seem to have become more interested in making a buck vs. complex beers with a lot of their recent offerings. Honey weiss is one they have had in their rotation for many years so making it efficiently was probably less of a concern before being bought by Miller. Perhaps this is why this beer has more complexity, albeit not much, vs. their new offerings.

At TJ Rockwell's in E-town.

A: Pretty hazy for a kristalweizen; the middle of the mug verges on amber. Thin white head.

S: Nose has wheat, orange spice, and honey. The sweetness pairs nicely with the mild tartness of the wheat. Honey is a rich addition.

T: The witbier base, spicy with orange zest, is very nice. The wheat, lighter, has just a bit of tartness that is slow to emerge. The honey adds both sweetness and depth, strengthening the ale while bringing a significant sweetness. The entire package is very small, no alcoholic heaviness to be seen. The honey brings plenty to the ale.

M: I gulped through this pretty quickly; it caught me off guard. Very refreshing and sweet; Leinie's has a way of sneaking up on you like that.

Poured into a standard pint glass.

Appearance: Subtle golden honey in color. Subtle amber.

Smell: Can definitely smell the sweetness from the Wisconsin honey but the lack of an good aroma hop made it too sweet-smelling. Maybe a sterling or saaz hop to add some balance?

Taste: Definitely sweet from the honey but way too much. The cluster hops in this wasn't really enough to overcome the sweet honey flavor.

Mouthfeel: Like I mentioned in the 'Taste' section above the sweetness really carries through in this and is overwhelming. It wasn't horrible if you like a sweeter brew but I can only give it a good.

Drinkability: Maybe something good to have for dessert?

Can recommend this for the most part, enjoyed it a little more than the Classic Amber Leinenkugel.

A sweet tasting beer. Crisp and refreshing.

Yellow colored body with a white head.

Smells like citrus, hops and honey.

Tastes hoppy with sweetness from the honey and a strong citrus finish.

Light mouthfeel, high carbonation.

I like to drink this beer once in a while. Very refreshing.
