I have finally reached the end of the summer sampler pack.

Poured this one out of a 12oz can pretty quickly into a regular old pint glass.

A) The quick pour resulted in a nice inch of head, but it was gone in a hurry. The beer was a pale yellow.

S) Light grains and a bit of honey sweetness. Nothing offensive.

T) It's like a light beer with a hint of honey. I mean, you pick up a trace amount of honey, but I'm not sure about the Weiss. It doesn't taste bad.

M) A fairly light bodied beer. It's decent for warm weather, as it is pretty crisp and refreshing.

O) This is okay. If you're at a summer get together, and this one is on the top layer of ice in the cooler... Well, I say dig to the bottom and hope for the best.

Leinie Honey: this is arguably a Weiss beer, but it neither looks nor tastes like one. It has a sweet aroma, and a nice light taste that you can drink all day. But it is clear, and is nothing like any Weiss I’ve ever had, seen, or heard of. Try Sammy’s new Weiss if you want to get close to the style.

A very nice thick head with massive retention of cream for the duration of the drinking. Otherwise unimpressive pale gold clearish color--very clear for a hefe. Mostly scentless.

Taste is sweet or nothing, with some sweet honey in the aftertaste. Served very cold with high carbonation, and almost no taste, this is a poor example of a hefeweizen--or a wheat--or anything!

Had on-tap at the Miller Factory in Milwaukee.

Poured into a pint.

Crystal clear with a two finger head that leaves a wispy layer behind without any lacing. Doesn't smell repulsive but is certainly very generic: some malts and that seems to be about it. Taste instantly deports me to my earlier days of drinking beer: notes of The Library and Sally's Saloon. In more concrete terms, it tastes very generic with some maltiness, slight bitterness at the end, and a generally clean character. Plus the yucks. Thin, watery, carbonated. Also, can't tell whatever happened to real Wisconsin honey. It is what it is. And it ain't any good.

12 oz bottle out of a six pack my buddy bought out of curiousity. Served up in a DFH shaped pint.

A: Poured a very pale, incredibly pale yellow. Very macro yellow. Incredibly macro yellow. The head was about a finger but it went away as quick as I poured it. No lace. Nothing. Lame.

S: Smell is a lot of corn presence. If it is a plus, the corn smells fresh and sweet. There is a slight honey scent, but it is incredibly faint. This smells like your basic lager.

T: Taste is very much of a pale lager. Lots of corn and grassy hops. The honey is very light and I suppose it sweetens this up a little. The beer is totally of a pale lager macro.

M: Light bodied brew with a very high carbonation. The carbonation makes this incredibly crisp and refreshing. The high point of this beer is that it is so easy to drink. No ABV going on here.

D: This beer is simple and a bit of a let down. If that is your thing, this the beer for you. Personally, if I want a macro, I'll buy a 12 pack of High Life for the price of this six pack. Flavors, look and smells are all basic and kind of crappy. This doesn't stand up the the style at all IMO. Not a fan, but hey, at least it doesn't have the crazy fruity pebbles flavor the Berry Weiss and Sunset Wheat had.

Purchased as a variety pack at Beer Zoo in Harrisburg, PA.

A-Clear yet a little hazy

S-honey and wheat

T-was very tasty in that it had that hint of honey that made the pale ale tolerable (for me anyways)

D- I would def recommend a six pack to sit back and enjoy for the games.

Overall i liked the beer even though i am not a Pale Ale lover.

Pours a bright straw yellow. The huge foamy head disappears a little too quickly for a wheat beer, really, but does leave some decently thick lacing.

Aroma is of faint honey and citrus, but is barely noticeable.

Very light-bodied, with a palate of faint honey with a backbone of grain, though without even the slightest hint of the characteristic yeasty, wheaty twang of most wheat ales. A bit watery tasting, with a clean, slightly sweet but short-lived finish.

I poured this one after a tiring day of work followed by lawn-mowing, edge-trimming, 100-degree sweaty, dirty Georgia goodness. It's quite refreshing, but seriously lacking in flavor. I almost think an A-B Budweiser has more character.

Notes from Aug 08
Sort of a deep straw color, with a faint yeast aroma, maby straw. A light crisp flavor but lacking in any thing that really stands out, very little in the way of hops or malt in the aroma or flavor, and where is the Honey promised on the label, very average, drinkable but very average.

This brew poured a white foamy head. There was very little lacing on the sides of my glass. It had a honey aroma to it. There was carbonation rising to the top. There was no bitterness or aftertaste to this brew. This is not a brew that will be at the top of my list of favorite brews.

A-Clear golden with thin head that quickly dissipates

S-A faint hint of barley/wheat like aroma with a touch of ethanol

T-upfront barley with a hint of sweetness, end note of clean hops that quickly cleans up begging you for another drink

M-Smooth, thin and easy to drink

D-Easy drinking, made for any occassion, a nice local beer.

I've drank a lot of this one in my day. My favorite from Leines. They seem to have become more interested in making a buck vs. complex beers with a lot of their recent offerings. Honey weiss is one they have had in their rotation for many years so making it efficiently was probably less of a concern before being bought by Miller. Perhaps this is why this beer has more complexity, albeit not much, vs. their new offerings.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Appears a very clear yellow with an average white head that doesn't stick around too long.

Smells of wheat and other grains with a tiny hint of sweetness. The taste is very similar. Starts out very grainy with a slight honey flavor as well. Nothing real impressive in this, but not too horrible.

The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with above average carbonation. This is fairly drinkable, goes down pretty easy, but the taste isn't really something that makes you want to go back for more.

Bottle purchased in a Leinie's Explorer Pack (variety box) from BevMo Cypress.

A: Rambunctious head fizzles up instantly and dies back down within minutes. White foam with large bubbles. Ale is filtered and clear, the color a very light yellow.

S: Grainy, almost corny, with a mild honey sweetness.

T: Tastes like a macro-lager sweetened with honey. Moderate bitterness, though it seems more to come from the alcohol than any hops. Not particularly distasteful; good compared to mass market beer, but little resemblance to a wheat craft beer.

M: Light body with somewhat high carbonation, quite appopriate for the style, though clashes somewhat with the flavor profile.

D: While a poor example of what a "honey weiss" should taste like, this is quite drinkable. I could probably drink a few of these at a party or something instead of a whatever light.

Poured a bottle of this into a glass mug.

A: Pours a light golden body that was slightly transparent with a white head with decent retention and minimal lacing.

S: Kind of a bittersweet, malt smell with some sour undertones. Nothing too overwhelming.

T: Not much of a taste at all. Kind of just tastes like a macro-beer, which is none too impressive.

M: A light mouthfeel that seemed overcarbonated as well. Nothing impressive.

D: Nothing too impressive or good. Just a thin, overcarbonated beer with no taste. I was not impressed at all with this one.
