Single, twelve ounce bottle just copped from Total Wine and More in West Orange... Out of all of the Leinenkugel beers I've sampled, this was by far my least favorite... The berry flavor was way too intense and too strongly reminiscent of a blackberry or berry soda for me to actually consider this a drinkable beer...
Pours an off-color, reddish hue with a modest head...
Smell was replete with blackberries, wheat, and sugars...
Taste was way too sweet with too much sugar in the backbone and a cloying presence of berries that rendered this one basically undrinkable for me...
Not recommended... Literally tastes liked spiked soda...

Color has trace of pink to it? This beer is not about malt but about berries. Raspberry smell. Kind of like a sody-pop. Tasty in the same way, but not so much in a beery way. There is a slightly bitter finish that surprised me. It is almost incongruous with the berries and brings home for me the point that a sour beer base that eschews hops makes for the best fruit beers. This is not New Glarus.

Pours a rosy pinkish color.

Smells sweet - raspberries & strawberries

Taste - Good stuff, but it doesn't taste much like beer or fruit flavored beer. I wouldn't even say it's like a lambic. It's really like drinking a wine cooler. It's like a sweet, berry flavored wine cooler.

Mouthfeel is light and bubbly, like a wine cooler.

Drinkability- Good stuff. It's not very beer-like, but I enjoyed it. I could see females who aren't big beer drinkers really liking this stuff. Good for summer outings or pool parties.

Looked like watered down cranberry juice. Tiny head which soon became a thin film leaving no lacing.

Aroma of berries, that's about all I could detect.

Tasted of berries and perhaps the smallest hint of malt. I'm not going to try and say I tasted anything else, because I didn't. Not a very complex brew but if you like this sort of thing then it was pretty decent.

Mouthfeel was like a carbonated soda. Thin and bubbly but refreshing.

Overall a somewhat drinkable beer, although if you drank it blindfolded and nobody told you that you were drinking a beer, you wouldn't know it. Anyways, not a bad way to quench your thirst if you're not quite feeling like a "regular" beer.

A - Moderate carbonation, foamy looking head which hangs around a bit. A red/orange/purple hue.
S - Strong scent of blueberries and rasberries with sweetness
T - Where's the beer? Slight malty taste, fades way to a syrupy not-quite-natural berry taste. This tastes more like it's using high-fructose corn syrup infused fruit juce, and not natural berries in the mix.
M - Thin, the carbonation seen in the appearance fades quickly. Watery.
D - Calling this a weis/beer is a bit of a ... lie. This tastes more like a lot of malternative beverages I've had. Honestly it's drinkable, but I'm not sure I'd call it a beer. If I want this flavor profile I'll go for a Smiroff ice or something like that.

After a hard pour, the head quickly shrinks to a thin lace on the top. The smell of fruit juice is heavy. The color is a nice amber with a fair amount of carbonation rising to the surface. The taste is very, very tart. A grape/rasberry combination for the flavor. I can't detect any of the "usual" beer flavors, especially any hops. The fruit flavor sticks in my mouth and lingers for quite some time. It reminds me of a grape soda. For a fruit beer, this might be right on target, but the "soda" feel just doesn't work for me. I prefer a beer with a more sutle fruit flavor, not one the seems to hit you over the head.

Bright clearish glowing orange color with a big lasting beige head. Smell is citrusy, orange, fruity and floral sweet hoppiness. Really nice, fresh smell. Taste is strongly hoppy with big citrusy, hoppy orange flavor. Nice crisp bitterness, but malt is nicely balancing it on through the finish. Really drinkable, refreshing and delicious. Fantastic double IPA!

Super candylike (think mouthful of Sweetarts) fruity taste. Tastes like grape juice. No wheat taste, not sure how/why it is called a weisse? Can't hardly be called a beer. If you mix one in with other beers it will really mess up your taste buds for a long time. It doesn't taste bad, it's not far from grape juice, just not really anything like beer. More like a low abv highly carbed Mogan David.

You should try one if you like grape juice, otherwise you will not like it at all. The fruit taste is just WAY too overpowering.

Drunk by my fiancee - this is her review. Poured it out in a glass:

A - Looks like cranberry juice, a bit lighter giving it an orangey color - looks interesting

S - Smells like fruit juice, raspberry perhaps, a bit cranberry. Fruit dominates everything, no wheat or beer-like smell

T - Tastes like wine (I concur). Exceptionally sweet, doesn't taste like beer at all. Wine or fruit juice with some carbonation

M - Smooth, not much lingering after taste, despite the in your face fruity flavor. Nothing exceptional or anything.

D - If you like it sweet and not beer-like, then you'll like it. If you don't like it sweet, then avoid it like the plague. Perhaps the beer for exclusive wine drinkers

She likes wheat beers and this is a wheat beer. She also like fruity flavors, and this is definitely fruity. That being said, she liked it alright and it certainly looks strangely inviting, but it's just too over the top to keep returning to.

There was an immediate aroma of berries as the beer was opened. The beer poured a light purple color and was cloudy in appearance. There was about a 2 1/2 finger head in the glass after being poured.

The first sip was pretty sweet with strong berry flavor. There was some tart to the beer, but left a very sweet after taste in your mouth.

Light lacing left in the glass while drinking.

Worth trying, but not recommended for an everyday drink...

A: Beautiful red color, one finger head, but dissipates rapidly

S: Delicious. Like freshly picked blackberries.

T: Like a smoothie. It's very fruity but also retains a note of hops. A little bitter but that's from the fruit, not the hops.

M: Watery but pleasing to the palate.

D: this is a sipping beer, not a guzzling one. Two would suffice; three would be too much sweetness.

12 oz bottle acquired from Whole Foods in ATL at my girlfriend's request. Figured I would give it a shot. Poured into a pint.

A: Poured a strange, enchanting color. Has yellow and pink hues. Got a huge, bubbly pink head. Actually created some sticky lacing that was a bit of a shock. Not bad looking.

S: Uh, smells like sugar, berries, over ripe fruits, and candy.

T: Candied berries, very sweet with heavy sugar. Not tasting much of anything else

M: Very thing but still coats the mouth. Probably the sugar. Has a lot of carbonation.

D: Girlfriend loves it, not a fan myself. Way to sweet and too many artifical flavor masking any trace of beer. Blah.

Poured into pint glass and this beer has a very unique color, kind of a red-pinkish-orange if you will. Decent head a little on the rose side with good retention, I had to knock it on appearance just for the color of the head alone. No one wants a beer with a pink head. Smell is good. Smells of bread, yeast, and some berry, but not as much as I anticipated. Taste is pretty good too considering the style. Yes, its sweet as can be and an orgy of berry flavor but its ok. Just dont get it confused with the taste of Boones Farm cause I did that once or twice. Mouthfeel is light and crisp, overall a relatively drinkable beer. I had some with my gal out at a the pool and that was a perfect setting.

12oz bottle

The berry weiss pours a very awkward color. Its not sure if its red or if its slightly orange, a bit pink, or maybe even brown. Its got a big foamy white head that sticks to the glass. Its smell is awful. Lots of rotten fruit, sugar sweetness, rancid apple cider and yea berries. It also packs an unpleasant tingly astringent-like feeling in the nose. It tastes bad too, any form of a wheat/bread character is totally blocked by the sweetness. It's cloying. It coats your mouth, deadens your tongue and sticks with you long after you take a sip. This was a dumper... Avoid this during your summer beer search. There are lots of better options in the 'flavored wheat beer' category. Try a Lambic, Blue Point Blueberry Ale, DFH Black and Blue or Red and White instead. Or you could just stick with the good old Sunset Wheat from Leinenkugels!

GLASS: Imperial Pint Glass
TEMP: Chilled to approx. 45 degrees

Pours a nice clear amber with a definite pink hue to it. Nice 1 - 2 finger pinkish head with good retention and nice lacing.

The smell is very nice, indeed. Very fruity. Raspberries and blackberries stand out above all else. Not unlike a Lambic, as far as the smell goes.

Raspberries hit the tongue first, followed by a little bit of blackberries and maybe some cherries on the end. Cherry could be something else, I'm not 100% sure. A little bit of malt down deep and a touch of honey. There's no hint of alcohol in the taste, just a little tiny bit of warmth in the belly.

Feels very smooth in the mouth. A little lighter than expected, but this works to it's advantage.

Very easy to drink as long as you don't mind the sweetness. Would be a great beer on a hot summer day.

Bought locally at Poplar Wine & Spirits.

It pours a clear reddsh amber with a 1 finger head of foam. There's some good lacing and the head retention is good.

The smell is big on the berries that kind of remind me of a Lindemans. I like fruit beers so the nose is impressive to me.

The taste is nice. Big flavour of raspberry and a good note of blackberry with some honey and overall, it's quite sweet but it suits my palate nicely.

Good medium to medium thick mouthfeel for the most part but it does border on syrupy near the finish.

This is a good fruit beer that, imo, doesn't have a whole lot of complexity going on but I don't look for that in every beer I try. It's simple, and it's good.

One selection from the Summer Beers 12 pack. Brown 12 oz bottle. Pours golden with a slightly pink color. Short white head, with some good retention and thin lace. Points for uniqueness. You can smell the berries and some yeast, strong but not overpowering. Taste is quite sweet, almost like a wine cooler. Lots of berry flavor, raspberry and blackberry. Sweet and slightly sticky mouthfeel, but there is still enough wheat element. A good fruity hot weather drink, but a bit too sweet for me to have more than one at a time.

A : Pours a pinkish color with a light pink head. Good head retention, nice lacing

S : Strong fruit smells. It overwhelms everything else.

T : Strong fruit flavors of raspberries and blackberries. There is a bready aftertaste. The fruit flavors are so strong that there's no malt or hops that shine through.

M : Crisp and light

D : On a hot summer day, it would be perfect.

A: Poured a good thick head peaking right at the top of the glass and forming a decent amount of lacing down the glass as the head slowly recessed. Pink/rose in color.

S: Smells strong of berries and yeast but the hops and grains that make up the beer are lost in the abundance of fruit.

T: Very sugary! Strong flavors of several berries, raspberry is the most identifiable flavor and maybe blackberry mixed in. Actually I just now looked at the bottle label and noticed it says they used raspberries and blackberries to make the beer how cool is it that I was able to guess the berries. The beer also sported a good yeast bread aftertaste that consumed the palette for a long period of time after the sip.

M/D: Leaves a syrupy slimy feel in the mouth and feels heavy as you drink it. I probably couldn't drink to many of these quickly and probably only after a meal for a dessert. The flavors keep you coming back to the beer but the amount of sugar hits the stomach hard.

Poured from a 12-ounce bottle into a Mickey's pint glass.

A: Poured a deep tinted purple/reddish amber color with a chilled haze and a frothy head of whitish foam.

S: A full bouquet of berries rises without even having to put your nose to it. A potent mixture of fresh berries which is quite pleasing.

T: Holy white zinfandel, Batman! It's got that distinct, vinous alcohol flavor mixed with a mouthfull of blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries. There's no hop taste that I can find, and the sweetness of the berries negates any real malted beer taste to it.

M: Mouthfeel is fizzy, because despite being sticky sweet at times, this brew is well carbonated.

D: As drinkable as say, Harpoon Raspberry UFO, except the lack of hops or other malt flavors impedes the drinkability a tad. It's a whole lot of fruit flavoring, and is tailor-made for summer.

For what it is, it's a very fruity beer with natural flavoring, as opposed to a Miller Chill or Bud Lime. It's better than some other fruit beers, but it's no lambic. If you love berries, be my guest. I'll pass from now on.

Purple/copper in color. A nice white head with only decent retantion and size after an agressive pour.

Very fruity nose with distinct nose of raspberry and blackberry.

Rather sweet with a strong front of raspberries, blackberries and strawberries.

Very light and smooth. Nice and crisp. Not a very carbonated feel but not a flat beer by any means. Mouthfeel as well as body more like a cider than a typical beer.

Absolutely drinkable especially for those that are leery about beers tasting too bitter. Something I could enjoy on a nice summer night.

Clean, copper-rose blended body with ample carbonation. Tight pink head - color of a champagne rose - with decent lacing. For what it is, it doesn't look too bad at all.

Definitely an extract-like scent. Slight wheat electricity but not a whole lot. Berry scent is magnified by diffusion from the carbonation. This has a little tone of either a low-end Riesling or a Moscato d'Asti. This is much more PLEASANT than it is BEER, so it leaves me wanting a bit. Besides the very slight wheat electricity I'm getting sort of a stale, macro light lager bitterness. Oo-fah.

It has a lower-quality macro lager bitter adjunct backbone, with the layer of sweet mixed berry extract. Sweetness overpowers the berries as this gets a little warmer. It doesn't taste horrible; it just doesn't taste a whole lot like beer. Drink it VERY cold - it gets sticky as it warms...towards the Parrot Bay zone.

WAY too much artificial residual sugar here. It's got a cool, pleasant refreshing mouthfeel when cold, but when it warms all I can think of is stepping on the floor at Wendy's about 20 minutes after someone spilled a Coke and they didn't get 'round to cleaning it up. Becomes downright grody.

The first 1 or 2 sips are enjoyable. Outside in the sun or at Miller Park for a ballgame, I could easily enjoy a couple of these worked in with more traditional fare. But it gets ugly quickly as it warms and it's not something to sit and contemplate. Grip it and rip it at your own peril, but only once or twice.

A: Poured a beautiful bright amber-orange with a slight ivory capping that soon diminished.

S: fruity and sweet with fresh raspberry aroma.

T: very sweet and sugary with raspberries. Very sweet upfront with dominant raspberry flavor with supporting fruitiness of apple and pear juice which quickly fades. Overall the flavor was very fruity and sugary.

M: light, sugary sweet almost to much so.

D: Drinkability was extremely limited due to the extreme sugary sweetness of this beer. Drank like a concentrated fruit juice box.

First off. This beer is what it is. A fruit beer for mass consumption and for those who aren't going to buy a fruit lambic to experience good fruit/beer combinations. This beer is highly drinkable during the warmer months. the color is that of well...berries. The taste is predominantly blackberry with a hint of wheat characteristics to it. There is nothing wrong with this beer, it is just what it says on the bottle: a berry wheat. For a more interesting Leinie's beer go for the Creamy Dark.

Tastes like sweet berry and feels good and viscous in the mouth

A- Didn't pour out of the bottle although I assume it would look sorta like a pale ale

S- Smelled good and sorta like berries

T- I enjoyed the taste of the beer. It is mostly berries but not overpowering with some malts in the background.

M- I love the mouthfeel of sweet beers and wines. This one is no exception. full-bodied and velvety smooth on the tongue with not much carbonation.

D- Drinks OK. I never like to drink too many fruit beers.
