Im not doing a full category by category review of this. Heres the deal. Is it refreshing? hell yea. Is it sweet? hell yea. Is it closer to Mike's Hard than a beer? Yea kinda. But it is a refreshing drink for a hot day and is what it is which is a weird style of beer and not great at that.

Smells like friggen' lemonade. At first - letting it open up will reveal a little bit of "beery" character. The first part of the taste is pretty beer-like (think a standard lager), while the second half shows off the lemon some. There's literally nothing else to this. I do think the feel is refreshing, but it could be a little less lumpy in spots. Meh, it is what it is, and I've had worse. Doubt I'd drink it again unless I got particularly curious (and shit like that does happen pretty frequently).

2.53/5: Well...I certainly don't hate it

Typical shandy. Light yellow colour with a white head. Smells of lemon. Tastes more tart than smooth. Nothing special. Alright to knock down a couple on a warm summer day.

From notes taken 04/26/16:

Very pale yellow, mostly opaque. Fluffy, pure white head of good retention. Lemon juice aroma, angel food cake. Lemons, bready wheat, yeast notes on the palate. Toasty cereal in retro-olfaction, mild citrus, almost more lime than lemon in aftertaste. Bready aspects are what make this beer, in my opinion. The lemon is mediocre, still good for refreshment. Light to medium in body, spritzy then nearly creamy. Overall, nothing special next to the Orange or the Grapefruit Shandy.

I love refreshing beers. This one is definitely sweet and citrusy, and is not for everyone. I enjoy it when I want something that is going to go down easy in the hot sun.

The smell and taste are equally and strongly of lemons. It's a very sweet drink. The feel is light bodied and heavily carbonated. It looks and tastes a lot like store bought carbonated lemonade, like MinuteMaid. There is a light aftertaste of lemons. Overall, it's alright if you want a sweet, lemon beer.

Pours a hazy yellow with a soapy white head. Lots of streaming bubbles and some particles floating about.

Smell is a wonderful nose cleaning lemony citrus smell that overpowers other smells that I may pick up.

Taste is a wonderful tart lemon snap. Taste reminds me of those lemon head candies I used to get as a kid.

Mouth feel is awesome! You take a drink and the tart forces your tongue to the roof of your mouth in a bizarre attempt to try to squeeze more out of it, and BAM the beer just disappears. So clean and crisp it really amazed me.

I am so happy the wife talked me into buying a six of this during our last Total Wine journey. And there will be many more of these coming home that is for damn sure. We live in Vegas where the summers get hot enough to burn the hairs off your nut sack and I can see a cooler full of ice and Summer Shandy going to the park and fixing up some serious damn BBQ!

Looks like equal parts lemonade and beer, which I guess is where they're going with this. No head even though frothy formation, just nil for retention. Aroma was lemon. Nothing beer wise.

Taste, so much candy sugar lemon drop. No hops, not really bitter, just sweet and lemony. Not even tart enough even though lemon is the predominate flavor.

My kid would prolly like this.

It tastes like a lemony beer-like beverage. My friend brought his leftovers after his stay here in Phoenix. Will never buy this on my own. Ever. But you might like it.

Picked up at the Ramstein shoppette. Buying American beer in Germany. Why? Not impressed. Doesn’t quite hit the same plane as a German radler. Not enough of the lemonade, just tastes watered down.....

Very Lemony....Drank from a bottle, couldn't see much, but I imagine cloudy yellow.Normally I would not rate a beer this fruity, this high, but the lemon works very nicely for this summer beer.Strong carbonation; though artificial.Call me Crazy, I really enjoyed it. Great picnic beer. Ellie's 7th Birthday party.

What can I say? I'm a sucker for a good summer beer. When it is as hot as it is in Central Texas, you take advantage of these! This is a fun beer in a lot of ways - lots of citrus mixed in, so it's basically a beer-lemonade mix. I enjoyed it.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 8/31/2015. Pours hazy bright golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lemonade, lemon peel, wheat, cracker, light honey, herbal, grass, and light pepper. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of lemonade, pale malt, and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemonade, lemon peel, wheat, cracker, light honey, herbal, grass, and light pepper. Minimal herbal/spicy bitterness and light fruit tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemonade, lemon peel, wheat, cracker, light honey, light herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Good balance and robustness of lemonade, pale malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness/tartness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.2%. Overall this is a nice lemonade shandy style. All around good balance and robustness of lemonade, pale malt, and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and clean to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a glass. 3/4 head. Then 1/2 head then 1/4 head, then none. Hazy yellow color. Beautiful aroma, lemonade, lemon pledge. Taste is 1% hops, 1% malt. 98% lenonade. While not a very "beery" beer it has enough flavor to pass as one. Very lemonady, like an Arnold Palmer minus the tea amd plus beer. Overall not bad. Very refreshing. A gpod beer for sitting outside on a hot summer day.

12oz bottle, another mixed-sixer selection from some grocery store or another in Sandpoint, Idaho a few weeks ago.

This beer pours a cloudy, pale golden straw colour, with two fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and generally fizzy off-white head, which leaves some stringy island chain lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells like lemon jello right off the bat, as if my mom's lemon meringue pie were sitting right in front of me once again, with a tame grainy wheatiness, subtle earthy honey, and an ethereal musty bitterness. The taste is grainy, lightly crackery wheat malt, a lessened lemon soda fruitiness, some mildly spicy yeast, well-faded honeycomb cereal notes, and a still lurking, but not quite showing its hand earthy (hops, maybe?) bitterness.

The carbonation is fairly crisp and thorough in its fizzy and frothy ventures, the body medium-light in weight, and sort of smooth, the somewhat tart lemon leftovers and the edgy grain kind of messing about here. It finishes off-dry, but not by much, the malt starting to seriously peter out, and the fruity lemon putting down roots in its dotage.

Overall, not a bad lemon-flavoured wheat ale, the shandy denomination perhaps a bit overblown, as this is not exactly a simply split mixing of beer and juice. Easy enough to put back, and refreshing, to a point, the one where the various shades of lemon begin to outstay their welcome.

looks.... interesting. smells like concentrated lemonade thats been watered down with cheap beer. eww to sweet almost cloyingly so. tastes a little too artificial for me. I'm not a hater on Leinies in general but i would rather buy my own coors light and mix it with sprite for less money.

This is a great beer if you just want to toss back a few and not dwell on the beer itself too much. It's crisp, it's lemon-y, and it doesn't hurt your wallet too bad. This is like the best case scenario when you visit someone who is only into macro brews and they have a 12 of this in their fridge. It kicks the heck out any kind of bud light ilk but certainly isn't anything spectacular. It's a solid 3 from me.

The beer pours a nice white head that dissipates quickly. The beer itself is a cloudy lemon yellow. Looks like a pretty good shandy.

The beer smell is a bit unfortunate. It has a strong lemon note that resembles more of the candy lemon than actual lemon. Wile it isn't actually bad for the first few sips, it can get distracting after a while. The honey notes save the smell and are a nice contrast to the lemon.

The taste has the same notes as the smell. A candy lemon taste that is saved by the honey. The lemon is a bit too strong in this brew and hurts it a bit.

The feel is unfortunately not as refreshing as expected. The beer leaves a sticky feeling instead of refreshed one The carbonation does some good but the end doesn't do it for me.

Overall, an okay shandy and one that you can probably feel okay about skipping. That being said, just stick to the Grapefruit Shandy, which is much better.

After hearing friends for 2 years talk about this beer I finally tried it. I am rather upset that I didn't try this sooner. The taste of the beer hits the spot on hot summer days. I never drank anything other then Miller or Coors but have ventured into other brands. This is so far the best that I have tried.

Never been a fan of any beer that's been kitchenized or yuppified in any way. As I get older and more open minded, I've been going out of my usual amber lager affinity and trying different things. Never thought in a million years I would enjoy anything like this but I really enjoy it. Perfect on ice sitting on the porch on a hot afternoon, or relaxing on the deck with the pork shoulder in the smoker. Light, refreshing citrus that goes down smooth and is very pleasing on the palate. Very mildly tart but not bitter, and not too sweet. I'd still rather have a Lynchburg Lemonade but this is a fantastic alternative to the high alcohol, heavy beers I usually stick with.

Got in a pint can, poured into a glass.

Look: Orange juice.
Smell: Kinda macro-ish, actually.
Taste: Lager-ish up front, but with a weird lemony aftertaste. Not a fan.

I guess I don't like Shandies. I tried Shock Top's and this one, and neither one appeals to me.

This beer is truly atrocious. It pours a watery yellow with a quickly diminishing head. The smell is of skunkerific. The taste is stale and vomitish. Very thin body. Over all... please pass a Keystone Light.

Juicy, light, inoffensive. Tasty and uncomplicated. I always give some extra points to a beer that suits outside activities so well. In this case, a Fourth of July concert and fireworks. Cheers!

Ok so as a beer that wants to be a fruity beer it fails, but it doesn't taste like its advertised. The taste isnt actually bad, just not what you would expect given the packaging. Feels good going down, and I wouldn't rate the taste so low if I wasn't shocked by how different it was. Overall I wouldn't recommend this to someone looking for a fruity beer.
