On tap exclusively at the Back Door Lounge in Starved Rock State Park, Utica, IL. It looked to be part of a package deal, since Leine's had 6 taps here, a serious majority.
This was compared to Leinie's Red by the bartender, which is a Vienna Lager. This beer had it's own tap handle, and clearly stated it was an ale. Server described it as a popular "dark beer".
Served in a chilled pint glass. It had a reddish orange hue, with a small amount of foam. Slightly fruity ale yeast aroma, with husky grain and little else.
There was a slight bitterness in the back, the only indication of hop content. Slight fruity note was a little bit like Hawaiian Punch. Not especially easy to drink, it was fairly sweet, I felt indifferent about finishing it. The body was full, as an ale is typically, and slightly watery on the finish. Really dull and most likely just a rebranded generic recipe...of what I don't know, but likely the Amber.

"...a cross between an English-style amber ale and a pale ale. "You can't buy it in a store," said Food and Beverage Manager, Andrea Yeruski, "You can only get this at Starved Rock's Back Door Lounge."
Quotes from the brewer:
"When asked to describe this special craft brew, John Leinenkugel, trade brewer for the Wisconsin-based brewery, says, "We've been brewing our custom ale, in our 'Leinie 10th Street Brewery' just north of downtown Milwaukee, since 1998. It's our one and only true ale beer. It's a cross between an English-style amber ale and a pale ale."
Serving type: on-tap
