Review from BeerAdvocate magazine Vol. II Issue XI:
There are two words that, when put together, worry us: "natural flavor." It's right there on the label staring back at us. We have no idea what it is, but it's natural, right?
Bubbly head is quick to disperse to a thin lacing that struggles to stay put. The filtered clarity looks fine, showing a glowing brown hue when put to the light. "Natural" aroma punches the nose like a cheap cup of "natural" flavored coffee; it not only smells like a flavor shot used for coffee, but tastes like it as well. The dry, semi-thin body shows a weak link in the flavor chain. Hops? Not really much there to record. The "natural flavor" subdues the taste buds with a maple hazelnut flavor--flavor shot indicator. Weak attempt with the dark malt to bring chocolate to the table. Finishes with that empty shell taste you get from "natural flavor."
Sorry, guys, this is a complete miss. Beer is supposed to be just beer. Undrinkable--kill off the whole "natural flavor" scheme and just add more malt please. We are sure it could not get any worse.
