Poured from bottle into an imperial pint. Best by 4/25/2011 stamped on bottle. 5.2% ABV
Appearance: Good head, light in color, dissipated quickly. Color of strongly brewed black tea.
Smell: Strong roasted coffee smell. Just a bit of sweetness.
Taste: Plenty of flavors going on, had a buttery diacetyl kick at first taste that didn't come back. Toasted wheat, with a hint of sweetness. Less malty and more wheaty than other bocks I've reviewed.
Mouthfeel: Fairly light-bodied for this style, a bit watery at times. A pleasant, balanced hops bite.
Drinkability: Definitely better than an Amber Bock, but falls short of other bocks I have reviewed this winter. Easy drinking, but I think it might be a bit too toasty to enjoy more than one, and seems a little watered down.
