A: Pours a clear gold with a thin white mousse that does not stick around any length of time. This Marzen is not as dark as some American takes on the style.
S: Very clean and more than a bit generic. Faint aromas of straw, hay, and lemony, grassy hops are just barely detectable after the beer settles and warms a bit.
T: Like most of the Leinenkugel's beers, this is one is rather coarse and simplistic for the style, displaying notes of caramel, grass, lemon, hay, brown butter, and toasty malt. The finish is very short with caramel, toasty malt, and lemony hop notes.
M: Medium bodied and thick. Carbonation is lacking for a lager. Feels flabby and somewhat crude.
O: This is a mediocre Marzen/Oktoberfestbier at best. Not all of the Leinenkugel's beers are bad, but this one is seriously lacking. Maybe they should just reintroduce Autumn Gold.
