Pours an off white fizzy slightly creamy almost 1 finger head that fades at a med pace, some lines of lacing, over dark ruby molasses reddish brown colored beer with some ruby light coming through barely.
Nose has lots of candy malts, candy syrup, candied apple, caramel galore, toffee, a bit of a fruity aroma like candied apple kinda fruit, a light bready chewy malt, as well as toasty reddish malt, don't get much else though, maybe a faint fruity hop.
Taste starts with the chewy malt, plenty of smoked malt actually, a chewy smoked not quite campfire malt but definite smoked and thats like 90% of the flavor, a smoked cheese kinda flavor. Then a light bready chewy candy malt, little caramel and molasses like syrup. This all combines with a fair bitterness, a chewy slightly spicy hop bitterness, kinda balanced but not quite since the smoked malts dominate so much. Very light warming booze comes through the slight sweet syrupy taste. Finish is sweet a bit sticky, more earthy slight herbal hops, smoked malts are plenty lingering.
Mouth is med bod, light warming booze, fluffy decent carb, bit syrupy.
overall meh, nothing special, too much smoked malt that doesn't go far, and nothing else really. Hops try to do something but can't even compete, everything else pretty much drowns out. Is this a smoked malt beer or a scotch ale?!

Pours a dark brown color. No head, lacing, or retention. Smells of alcohol, sweet malt, hint of roasted malt, and slight syrup. Fits the style of a Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of alcohol, sweet malt, roasted malt, hint of oatmeal, and slight syrup. Overall, very weak appearance, good body, and decent aroma.

Mud cola brown with a tiny ring of cream foam. Not attractive.
Strong concentrated grain stew, dark caramel maltiness, oak, burnt sugars, some roast bitterness, vinous notes, and a faint whiff of sweet mossy smoke. Phenolic and a little fruity. Notes of rum raisin, black strap, and date.
Sweet malt, dark sugar, peat, treacle, wet smoke, date sugar, light maple, medicinal notes, and faint crabapple tartness. The latter note plays into that oaky vinous note. Tinge of tartness is, actually, relieving. Tasty thick malty middle with a semi-tarnished unripe cherry finish.
A little stinging, but it's the tartness, not the booze. Alcohol level is right, wee heavy. I like this warmth. The carbonation is slighted, however. The body is okay, but some more effervescence would really elevate the overall mouthfeel.
Best Leinenkugels beer I've had, to-date.
