Tastes of sour fruits, dates, plums, pomegranate, licorice, very sour. Not sweet at all like one would expect from the style. Followed by toffee, caramel, and dark fruits. Finishes with almost a vinaigrette quality. Beautiful flavor profile. This is more like a sour wild ale than a Porter. Very fruity and very sour. Amazing beverage. Way underrated in my opinion.

12oz bottle, labeled 2012 vintage; poured into an unlabeled snifter 6/2/2014.

A- Dark cola coloured body. Minimal offwhite head with surprisingly minimal retention. The head literally lasts 2 seconds before disappearing entirely. No lacing to speak of. For all I know this could be a baltic porter or a flat brown ale.

S- Lots of molasses, brown sugar, tapioca, a small bit of chocolate and cocoa, but make no mistake, this smells very sweet.

F- Sweetness galore. Molasses, tapioca, milk chocolate. Not much coffee or cocoa or any similar profile to balance it out. Too sweet for me, not particularly interesting but not particularly offensive either.

M- Fuller bodied, low in carbonation but enough that it's not a still beer. Resinous with a finish full of molasses.

O- Too sweet for me. It's not horrible, but it's not anywhere close to what I've come to expect from classic baltic porters which have tended to have more roastiness and dark fruits. This is just sweet, cloying without even close to enough balance.

Appearance: If you try hard, you'll get 1 finger of creamy beige foam, which dissipates in moments to s slight ring around the glass. The beer is an opaque brown.
Smell: Sweet. It smells of malty caramel.
Taste: Sweet and cloying... In a bad way. It is as if the fermentation was stopped early. Complex malt bill, but no real depth of flavor beyond the cloying sweetness. Dark Chocolate, I guess...
Mouth-Feel: Thick and syrupy; the carbonation does little to complement it.
Overall: Way too sweet. Little overall complexity for the price. I will not purchase again. Sloppy job by the brewers.

12 oz bottle poured into a Blind Tiger Brewery snifter. Marked with a 2012 neck label. Not expecting too much.

Appearance: A straight down the middle pour produced a half finger of bone colored head. Not much head was left except for a healthy ring and a film after a few minutes. Dark walnut colored body with decent lacing.

Smell: Toffee, sweet stone fruit, brown sugar, honey, mellow chocolate malts and some faint oxidation.

Taste: Honey, stone fruits, dates, licorice, very sticky sweet up front. Followed by toffee, caramel and some muted chocolate malts. Finishes with a big brown sugar maltyness.

Mouthfeel: Low carbonation with thin/medium mouthfeel. Sticky, dry and slightly warming.

Overall: Overall a decent Baltic Porter. Average looking with a fruity, mellow nose. Tastes of very sweet dark fruits and mellow chocolate malts with a thinner than expected mouthfeel. Not anything to go out of your way for, but recommend for fans of the style. It held up better than expected in its two years.

Poured a cola brown with ruby highlights, one finger dark tan head that faded quickly into a thin cap with light lacing.

Aroma of roasted malt, dark fruit, caramel and hints of chocolate.

Taste of roasted malt, chocolate followed by a slight sweetness of plums and port.

Moth Feel was medium body, light carbonation, smooth and creamy.

Overall a nice balanced porter, would be better with a little more body, a good drinkable beer.
