A - Pours a nice chocolate with 1 finger tan head. Retention is average

S - Hints of chocolate and vanilla. Also a slight lingering smokiness to the beer

T - Doesnt dissappoint. The vanilla is present but not overpowering. It has a nice chocolate and nutty background. Like the aroma there is a very slight smokiness to the beer

M - Lighter than it looks. Would call it on the light side of medium body. Slick in the mouth.

O - A good solid offering by Leinenkugel. Its nothing fancy, but is tasty nonetheless. Will definately do in a pinch

Little to no head on this brew. Smells of vanilla and coffee. The first taste had a solid vanilla flavor and a slight bitterness. I tries to cleanse the palate with Cheetoes but wiped my hands on the drapes and caught them on fire. Would not burn down my house again for. 2.75/5

Poured a 12 oz. bottle into a chilled pint glass.

A - black, head was billowy, thick and tan, dissipated quickly.
S - vanilla hits you first, then as it warms, hints of roastiness and toffee emerge. The vanilla is not overpowering, very balanced.
T - You get the vanilla up front, then gives away to a roasty astringency. Everything is in balance. Nothing dominates.
F- medium carbonation. body is light, too thin in my opinion (as are most Leinie's beers).
O-a very sessionable beer, well balanced, unlike some of the other vanilla brews out there. If it had more body, and maybe a little more toffee in the flavor profile, this could be a winner.

Pours a deep brown, dark ruby red color. Thick tan head reduces to about a quarter-inch pretty quickly. Some slight vanilla on the nose, full of sweetness and handfuls of roasted, dark malts. Upon the first taste, the body is kind of a let down - very thin and highly carbonated, not something you'd expect from a porter. Oak and wood chips hit first; all-around, huge bouts of roasted malts cloud the palate. Vanilla bean plays an overcast role, not as prominent at first, but growing toward the end of the sip. I'm picking up some slight honey flavors in there as well. The sweetness grows and grows from the start to the finish. At first, it seems like a nice touch, but there isn't enough of a hop profile to offset it, and near the end of the beer, the sweetness is nearly cloying and a little over-the-top. It has a dense vanilla-coffee bean aftertaste, not bad.

For a porter, it's nothing to write home about, and the sweetness needs to be balanced better. However, it's not awful, and it's certainly one of the better offerings I've had from Lienenkugels. Just too sweet.

Working on my second 12 oz bottle poured into a glass. The beer is more chocolate tasting than vanilla honestly, with hints of coffee. Has a malty sweetness that drowns out any alcohol taste. But at 6% it warms you up. I bought it because I have to scoop snow today, so I thought I'd buy this Snowdrift Vanilla Porter to help me out. :-)

I have never known Leinenkugel to make a bad beer, and this is no exception. However there are probably better options for porter/stout beer fans. So I gave it a 3.75 all around. If this was a beer someone homebrewed, it would be incredible, but I expect more from large breweries.

12 ounce can. Feb 2014 (?) on the bottom of the can.

Pours dark amber w/ a reddish hue. Mocha head, frothy and staying nicely. Goes to a thicker film, and leaves some low sheeting and ample fine scattered bits of lacing.

Mild nose of some sweet malts, sugary chocolate and a hint of coffee.

Lighter on the palate then the typical porter. Notes of more milk chocolate, coffee cake and a whiff of vanilla. Not bad. Decent, lighter bodied, easy drinking and sessionable winter brew.

Had on tap at the BBC Cedarville--served into a pint glass

Appearance: dark brown in color, opaque, minimal head, medium carbonation

Smell: roasted malt and vanilla--very light smell

Taste: big vanilla taste followed by roasted malt with more vanilla on the finish

Mouthfeel: medium/light body, medium carbonation, sweet with roastiness

Drinkability: This one is typical Leinie's. If you typically like their beers, you will like this one. If not, I suspect you will not like this one as well. Nice vanilla taste over a decent porter. A bit sweet, but still one I will get again.
