12 oz. bottle poured into a stout glass.

Appearance: Pours a deep black with a minimal off-white head that recedes quickly. Lacing is pretty minimal.

Aromas: Smells of coffee, dark chocolate, hops, roasted malt, and some vanilla. It's not a vanilla bomb, which is probably a good thing. Relatively subtle vanilla makes itself present, and lets you know it's going to be a unique porter.

Taste: Pretty tasty porter with a taste that follows the nose. Vanilla is, again, subdued but there. Coffee notes are pretty forward.

Mouthfeel: A smooth but sturdy porter. It looks stout-like but has more of a medium body.

Overall: This is an enjoyable porter and I'm glad I tried it. Would have another. Don't be scared off by the vanilla - but also don't expect it to be a dominant flavor.

Serious contender with Trout River Rainbow Stout as one of the worst beers I have ever had. I have been to Wisconsin several times and noted the popularity of Leinenkugels. For the life of me I cannot grasp the loyalty of the name vs the quality of the beer. Granted they have great graphics but the beer just plain sucks. There are a lot of short cuts here. If you want to make good beer in high volume, contact InBev and maybe they will show you how Budweiser does it.

12oz longneck bottle
A) Pours with a finger thick tan head. Settles slowly leaving a tight lacing at the edge of the glass. Nearly opaque, dark mahogany colored body.
S) Roasted coffee. Vanilla beans.
T) Roasted grains. Coffee. Hints of chocolate. Bready.
M) Full body. Fizzy. Slightly dry a bit chalky.
O) A tasty porter. I'd have another.

Dark red body with a thin, foamy head. Aroma releases various scents, sometimes a wet dankness, other times a slight roasted grain and nut note, and still other times a heavily sweet vanilla tone. First taste impression was almost of a rootbeer, but then it quickly revealed a combination vanilla sweetness and an almost metallic hop bitterness. Medium bodied; somewhat coarse and fizzy; semi-sweet finish.

An overly sweet porter in many ways and a bit disjointed in character. More sugary and syrupy tasting with a relatively weak, watery body. Drinkable but mediocre porter lacking a solid depth and complexity that would make it more memorable.

From bottle into pint glass. Dark brown with light beige head. Not getting a whole lot from smell, maybe a tinge a vanilla bean, low backhround of carmel. Taste is light, not full bodied, light, airy, smooth, plwasant aftertaste, vanilla bean tones bittersweet chocolate.

Overall its not the worst porter ive had. I would rate this beer ok. Its a good choice if your at a store where there is not a whole lot of other craft choice. Its a 150% better choice than the BMC alternatives..

Leinenkugel's Snowdrift Vanilla Porter
12 oz. brown bottle, dated "APR1414 B20010852"

Leinenkugel's Snowdrift Vanilla Porter pours a clear, very deep mahogany brown body beneath a two-finger thick head of pillowy dark tan foam. The head retention is good, and it slowly dwindles to a wide collar. Streaks and spots of lacing are left behind with each sip.

In the nose the vanilla component is quite clear. It's sugary, but soft, and not nearly as artificial as it can sometimes be in other examples that take it perhaps a bit too far. Beyond that there's some dark chocolate and fudge-like maltiness.

The flavor is as the nose suggests, with a general chocolate cake type character. It's not overdone, or overtly sweet though. A subtle bitterness keeps it in check, as does some dark malt acidity, although it does finish a touch sweet with a note of chocolate and some underlying fruitiness as well as a lingering note of vanilla. No hop flavors are to be found, leaving the lightly sweet dark malts as the focus.

Medium bodied and moderately carbonated.

In the end it's a fairly charming beer. I don't see it as having a lot of drinkability, but it's not cloying. It should make a great holiday beer, or as a special dessert beer.

Not a bad beer at all. I expected a smother taste from Jacob L company especially since im a huge fan of Summer Shady. Overall its not bad when your sipping it next to a fire after quading all day.
Bit hoppy but the aroma of this beer is what really brings you in.

Appearence is that of a solid dark beer.

Beer has a pleasant vanilla-y smell to it, as the name would suggest. Taste has just a touch of kick to it, but is generally smooth and enjoyable to drink.

Overall, I would recommend it to those who like porters.

P- Wegmans in Mechanicsburg, PA

A- dark brown/light black. opaque with a half finger tan head that has an average lacing on my pint. Nothing to exciting here so far.

S- cocoa and dark roasted malts. I have to strain to smell the vanilla but it is there barely.

F- Sour mash cocoa malts. It didn't come across as good as I was hoping. the vanilla does come out more in the mouth rather than the nose. The flavors mesh better as you continue to drink but still a poor combo.

M- has the feel of a black lager rather than a porter. The smokiness comes out halfway through the beer though.

O- an average porter....I have had better and worse.

A - Dark but translucent. I can see birds on the feeders outside my window through this porter. Large two finger creamy tan head that hung out for a while. Minimal lacing.

S- Dark roasted malts prevail. Some light fruitiness and a slight hint of vanilla.

T- Dark roasted chocolate malts, but not real dark. Slight coffee. An almost perfume-ish vanilla flavor in the middle, followed by a weird tart fruit aftertaste. Could be cherries.

M- Light and lacking the creaminess I look for in a porter. Leaves a waxy feeling in my mouth.

O- Well I've had better porters for sure. This is not well balanced at all. I think they fell asleep when the hops were supposed to be added. Not a big fan of this version. Drinkable but I won't purchase this brew if other options are available.

This beer looks and smells great. The beer has some bold flavors including chocolate and coffee. It has a little bit more sweetness than I would generally prefer in my beer; but the winter season only rolls around once a year, so it's easy to enjoy. If you haven't tried Leinenkugel's Vanilla Porter, I recommend that you do.

Appearance: Black. Reddish brown hue when held up to light. Leaves a very thin lace of head.
Smell: Roasted malt and coffee.
Taste: Malt and light coffee/cocoa. Touch of sweetness.

This isn't bad. I think it's worth drinking, or at least trying once. The dark pour is inviting, and the remaining head lace is decent. The smell is also enjoyable with a roasted coffee and malt influence. You can also somehow smell something sweet in the background. The taste is a tad bit stronger, but is basically the same as the smell. It's a sweet, roasted coffee. I probably wouldn't get this again, but I'd certainly enjoy it and drink it again if offered one.

Drank this straight out of the bottle. The smell of the beer is very soft and faint almost non existent. However that being said the taste more than makes up for it. This beer has such a great balance of malts and the sweetness of the vanilla. There is little no no bitterness and is unlike any other porter i have ever had. I really enjoyed this one and would definitely recommend it.

Appearance- Poured into a tulip with aggressive pour yet very little to no head. Not completely dark either but somewhat see-thru and watery.

Smell - Almost absent of smell. Some sweetness perhaps but mostly void of scent.

Taste - Well after my very harsh appearnance and smell ratings. I have to say, this is quite tasty. It doesn't taste much like any other porter I've had, but its light bodies, slightly malty with a very nice sweet vanilla finish. No hop bitterness at all of note. No ashy or roatyness either, just a light yet sweet well balanced dark beer.

Mouthfeel - A tad watery.

Overall - This is a very sessionable, light porter. I could have a few of these in one sitting with no problem at all. If you go in with an open mind, and not looking for the standard porter qualities in a beer, you'll probably be surprised at how tasty this beer is. I probably won't seek this out again, but if offered one or have limited options in a bar, this is an easy go to dark beer option.

Bottle poured into regular pint glass

Nice dark amber color, somewhat hard pour had a nice cream colored head that disappeared fairly quickly.

Smokey and acidy smell with some hints of vanilla.

Yes, there is smoky taste that finishes fruity with vanilla hints. Nice bit of alcohol. The smoky flavor holds on. I like that, but I have a fondness for smoke flavors.

Feels smooth and kind of silky.

Overall not a bad beer, one of the best I have ever had from Leinenkugels'. Great price point as well. Will definitely be drinking many more of these.

12-oz bottle into porter/stout glass

A - pitch black body (ruby highlights) under 2 fingers of medium tan

S - cocoa and coffee, hint of vanilla, caramel-like sweetness

T - roast malt notes, dark chocolate, coffee, touch of vanilla, slight smoke and burnt notes, slight bitterness

M - smooth, sticky medium/full body, medium/high carbonation

O - Snowdrift is a nice porter. The vanilla is pleasant and not at all overpowering. The taste has just enough complexity to be interesting.

Nearly opaque deep brown. Almost no head or lacing.

Porter smell with a faint hint of vanilla.

Nice mouth feel, rolls down nicely.

A good porter with a hint of vanilla that is tantalizing and not overwhelming.

Would be a good introductory porter for a lager drinker, that the more widely tasted could easily enjoy too.

A. It is basically black but there is a hint of lint toward the bottom that gives of a slight red color. It has a two-finger tan foamy head that dissipates quickly, no lacing.

S. It has a metallic scent. Malty.

T/M. It is very malty with a weird, weird sweetness. I'm guessing because of the style it's some sort of vanilla, but it is off. A bit of coffee and chocolate underneath. Smooth and medium to light bodied.

O. Tastes like an off-Sam Adams Winter. Not very appealing.

Leinenkugel's Snowdrift Vanilla Porter is an outstanding Beer,it is one of those Beers you can just kick back with and enjoy what the brewer achieved, very nice chocolate & Coffee notes with just a slight hint of Vanilla, which actually gets a bit more pronounced when the beer warms a little, but still,I would say that the chocolate and coffee flavors are more prevalent up front.
This is a Beer you take your time with, you savour it,not a Beer you rush to the bottom of and snag another one from the fridge as soon as it is gone,a gr8 beer to enjoy while relaxing by the wood stove or Fireplace on a cold frigid night,or perhaps share with some close friends after dinner,a top notch Porter in every way.
Cheers and Peace2all.

Pouring to a dark brown hue with a nice head of beige- colored foam, Leinenkugel Snowdrift has an aromatic nose of vanilla, cocoa, and light roast. The foam maintains a thin layer after it settles, but leaves no lacing.

With the taste, this porter features flavors of chocolate, vanilla, caramel, and some roasted notes. The body of the beer is medium to light with a creamy feel and a sweetness that attempts to balance with a hit of bitterness in the end, but remains mostly sweet. The finish is mostly clean.

This vanilla porter is a little less vanilla- enhanced than I expected, but is still features an obvious vanilla taste that is pleasant overall. It doesn’t have that fresh, 100 percent natural vanilla taste and character common to other vanilla- enhanced craft beers, but it is still fairly good. It’s a nice beer to settle down with on a relaxing winter evening.

Sampled last night on 12/23/13. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a brandy snifter.

Pours a very dark brown in color that you can barely even see through. About a 1-finger beige head that left some lacing when sipped. The aroma is of cocoa, and vanilla with a hint of caramel. Very smooth taste of vanilla & chocolate stands out and goes down very easily.

Poured into a pint glass. Bottleneck says

A- Pours a mostly opaque black color with a 1/2 inch tan head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a half sheet of surface foam. Non-resilient lacing leaves a jagged ring behind.

S- Sweet, nutty aroma with notes of vanilla, a bit of milk chocolate and booze.

T- Lots of caramel and chocolate with a vanilla aftertaste. Very sweet, some might say overly so but I have quite a sweet tooth. Easy to drink and enjoyable at first but it soon loses its luster and becomes a bit watery and one-dimensional. And I'll admit, the sweetness does wear on you after a while. Speaking of which, the alcohol comes through way too much after it warms.

M- A bit thin but viscous enough to keep things interesting. Medium-low carbonation and a mostly full body.

O- Starts out decent enough but it turns on ya pretty quick. Still, not as bad as I thought it'd be.
