Poured into a snifter

A: Chocolate brown, opaque, with a tan half finger head that dissipated fast, leaving a few big bubbles in its wake.

S: Charred malts, dark chocolate, light vanilla.

T: A nice blend of smokey chocolate and vanilla. Malty and nutty. Smooth, sweet, well balanced for a porter. A bit oily on the finish.

M: Light to medium with creamy carbonation.

O: Better than I was expecting. Session-able. Would go well with a chocolate chip cookie.

A: Dark ruby red almost brown. Has a mocha colored head although lighter than other stouts and porters out there. Has about a half a pinky head that lingers throughout the entire time.

S: Roasted malts, caramel, light toffee, faint vanilla (this increases as it warms up), alcohol is present which through me off as I've had stronger stouts that don't have the alcohol smell.

T: Vanilla, roasted nuts, some bitterness mid palate, alcohol. Aftertaste is like black coffee only fainter. As the beer warms up the vanilla becomes much more pronounced.

M: Creamy, coats the mouth very well.

O: Not a bad porter to be honest, has a decent flavor and mouth feel. The only thing that I didn't really like is the alcohol flavor that is very present throughout the entire time. The bitterness was just right and contributed to the maltiness to add a nice balance.

A- Pours a deep brown to almost black in color. You can see through it in thinner parts of a glass, and lots of red colors come through with the light. Small, one finger, creamy looking tan head forms and hangs around for a little bit. Lacing is ok.

S- Subtle and not strong. Some dark malts are present, along with some metallic notes. Some vanilla sweetness mixes in there.

T- Starts with some quality dark malt flavors, then moves towards a fairly sweet, and artificial feeling, vanilla flavor. Dark malts make a return with a hint of burnt flavors and mix with the vanilla. Finishes with a bit of dark malt bite.

M- Light on the tongue, highly carbonated. This beer is dark in color, and little bit in flavor and weight, but could easily be very sessionable.

Overall, better than I thought, with prominent vanilla in the flavor. Vanilla is a little on the sweeter side, but not too bad and mixes well with the malts. A fairly enjoyable porter right here.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint.

A: Black or very dark brown. Pours a 1 finger, foamy, brown-white head. Dissipates rather quickly leaving a smattering of foam on the surface. No real lacing.

S: Charred grains, dark chocolate, and just the slightest hint of vanilla.

T: Bitter pecan shell, burnt malt, slight hint of indistinct sweetness.

M: Comes off as a little overcarbonated, bitter and pungent finish that lingers on the palate throughout.

D: Session.

Atmosphere is good enough. Really nice head (and who doesn't like that), but no lacing. Nose is roasty, with bits of chocolate and a slight hint vanilla accentuate. Bitterness really overshadows anything else, but there is an almost synthetically sweet note. Overall, this is a decent quaff.
