Poured from a 12oz bottle, dated 3 June 2013, into a Belgian snifter.

A: The beer is yellow-gold color in color with excellent clarity, topped by a thin white head most of which fades quickly. Some lacing gets left on the glass.

This is a lightly flavored and delicate style of beer, so the addition of rye could easily change the character. And so it does, I think. The aroma is spicy for style. seemingly due to both hops and the rye. The flavor too is spicy for style, but not so much as to completely transform the kolsch or overpower the malts. Has a clear hint of lemon. Slightly sweet.

M: Crisp; light body; near medium carbonation.

O: A relatively spicy version of the style, yet without being more flavorful than average.

The canoe paddler is a decent kolsch style beer...i like the addition of rye. The beer poured a clear golden with thin white head that left a spotty lace. The scent was minimal at best....faint citrus and malt. The tatse was well balanced....the rye helped the beer finish clean off the pallet and sslightly dry. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer and perfect for the summer months.
