Poured from a can into a Three Floyd's pint glass (sorry 3Fs)

A - Murky pale yellowy-orange. Kind of like over-blended watered-down orange juice. Doesn't look very appetizing.

S - Smells like a cross between a wit and a czech pils. Lemony aroma that fades into grain. Not too much orange on the nose, more lemon than orange.

T - Ah, there's the oranges. And grains. Ricey and wheaty grains, but not as pungent or putrid as those found in any of the major adjunct lagers. Starts as orange juice with much less sweetness, and fades to the graininess stated above. You can almost say it tastes like a cross between an Americanized bastard of a wit and a euro pils, with added OJ. Not bad, but you have to take it for what it is.

M - The way I like my fruit beers. Effervescent and light. Adds a crispness. Could be a little less syrupy, but nothing too big.

O - This beer was surprisingly OK. Not bad, not great, just an "as expected" beer from Leinenkugel. I feel like a lot of people rip on this company cause it's a macro, and a lot of people praise it cause they have no palate for beer. If it were cheaper, I'd buy it. Until then, I'll stick to my cheap-ass Steigl Radler for a light fruity brew. If you like grapefruit and fruity beer, check it out, only 89 cents for a pint can at my local craft store!

Thanks to Jeff for tossing me one of these. Figured I'd give it a try - why not? I'll never be "above" anything. Poured from a can into a Lagunita's mason jar. That's got "classy" written all over it. The only thing that would be more perfect would be sitting in an old, rusty canoe out in some stinky ass pond in the middle of nowhere.

It pours kind of cloudy, like muddled orange juice, only with a bit more transparency at the edges which nearly turn to yellow when the light beams through them. The foamy, almost frothy, bone-white head lasts for a minute or two but leaves a bit of lacing as it recedes. The aroma is Orange Kool-Aid. Seriously. Orange Kool-Aid infused with just a little bit of faint grains. And when I say faint, I mean almost completely nonexistent. The smell is not bad at all, just extremely straightforward and boring. Like most Nicholas Cage movies.

It tastes.... like I would expect it to taste. Grainy backbone with more of that "borderline-artificial" orange flavor. It's kind of like an Orange spritzer, thanks to the heavy bouts of carbonation. There is just a little bit of "beer" flavor to this, as the watered down Kool-Aid pretty much masks everything else. Very light bodied with a ton of carbonation - tight, crispy mouth feel and a dry finish.

Eh. What did I expect? Not a lot. And because of that, I wasn't really let down. In fact, I enjoyed this one much more than Summer Shandy and I'm sure this would prove to be extremely quaffable on a hot summer day.

Appearance: 1 inch head, high carbonation, orange-yellow in color, cloudy

Smell: ginger, lemon, and light berry

Taste: wheat, orange, and cream--like a beer mixed with an Orange Julius--but not as sweet

Mouthfeel: sweet, light body, high carbonation

Overall: I would probably put this in the middle of the three shandy's I have had from Leinies..Not as good as the lemon berry one. Not offensive, but there are other fruit beers I would try first.

This beer has a light, orange-y appearance and smell as its name would suggest.

The citrus flavor can be a bit rough on the palate, but overall it is a good taste that is neither too strong nor too weak.

I'd recommend trying it to others, provided they don't mind some fruity-ness in their beers.

The pride of Chippewa Falls in a brown bottle. Immediate orange zest syrup bitter flavor accompanies a light body and soft carbonation. Reminds me of a beach barbecue in southern California. Barely detectable hops with a light malt backdrop. 4.2% alcohol makes it very drinkable. A simple beer; I could enjoy one or two on a warm summer afternoon outdoors but overall very average and forgettable.

Decided to write a review cause it'd be easy and there weren't many at tho point.

Poured into a glass-it's very hazy can't see through it. A dull light orange color. Has a one finger head that dissipates quickly into just a ring.
Smells lightly of citrus and malt.
Taste is pretty mild. Reminds me off the frozen orange juice you make at home but if you added too much water then added a light beer. Not a lot of taste but it's not terrible. I'm sure I'd be decent in certain conditions-hot weather, out on the boat etc.-
Overall Il admit I'm not into shandys but this is a decent example of one.

It's not quite straight orange, leaning a little lighter with a bright yellow tint. It's cloudy, which I guess I expected. A sparsely-bubbled off-white head rises quickly and makes a show of it before quickly dropping down. It's a little fizzy, but a bit does stick around for the long haul, particularly around the edges, and it leaves some spotty foam on the glass.
Of all of Leinie's shandies, this one comes off as the most artificial. The main element is sugared orange, not juice but like those candies that are soft and chewy with the sugar crystals coating them. It's a little tangy, more on the nose than the flavor, which goes more the grainy route with sourness sneaking in.
It's light-bodied, sure, but the effervescence gives it something, at least. There's even a crisp feel that isn't simply a compensation. It's not clean by any stretch, but I'm not forcing it down.
The score is what it is. This is a beer. As a drink, it's not great, but better than it is as a beer.
