Pours dark brown almost orange. The nose has caramel and plum, maybe pear? A complex brew. Maybe a little too boozy for me.

My very first barley wine! Brown sugar, caramel, wood. Sticky.

This is impressive. Too much going on with this beer. Now I am ready to jump into this style. Thanks Alley Kat!

A big thank you to Wordemupg for this 2011 bottle, a long time want.

Appearance. Pours an murky orangey-brown with a very thin off-white head that doesn't last very long.

Smell. Big caramel, brown sugar, and raisins, a little sweet grainy malt and a touch of orange rind. Smells awesome.

Taste. Caramel, burnt sugar, and raisins. There's still a little orange rind going on as well (like the smell) ans some herbal hops. Good stuff.

Mouthfeel. Full body, low carbonation.

Overall. A really nice BW that I would enjoy every year if it came here. Great stuff.

Thanks to Mattsander for this bottle.
2011 Vintage. Poured in to snifter.

A - Deep copper colour. Carbonation appears very low as almost no head forms on the pour.

S - Sweet toffee, brown sugar and caramel dominate. Some floral and lighter fruity notes are als present.

T - Dark caramel, toffee and brown sugar flavours dominate. Raisin and some stick hop flavours come through - some fruity esters and floral notes.

M - Medium body. Sticky. Light carbonation.
