Sam's Tap Room is a great place for a beer. It is the new tap room for Red Lodge Ales. The new brewery building looks great. It operates more as a bar than a regular brewery tap room. They serve food and wine as well, so I think that is why they can get around the silly brewery laws in Montana. Which means it can be open longer, and there is no three beers per person limit.

As you walk in, the room is very large and open with a bar along the back. There is a pool table, a foosball table, and some darts. There is also a great patio to sit at outside. The brewery equipment can be seen to the left as you walk in the door. The service was very friendly and knowledgable. I did not meet the brewmaster, but the other people working knew their stuff. The patrons that visit are very friendly. There was a bicycle race through town, and a lot of the racers stopped in for a visit.

The bar has about 8 taps. All are Red Lodge Ale's plus one guest tap. You can get pretty much anything in a growler. Most of their year round stuff is available with some seasonals as well. I love the porter, hefe, and pale ale. They had the Sctoch Ale on Nitro as well.

I did not try the food, but it looked like a good place for lunch. Lots a sandwiches and such. Overall, you can't beat fresh beer from the source. An excellent place to relax and take in the great local atmosphere of Red Lodge (brewery and town).

We go here often enough to wish the food menu was more varied. Seems like they've been trying to have more specials that differ from the menu. Big outdoor seating area for the summer months, usually can find a place inside during cold weather. They have various events here that we attend including the dog pull and the Christmas tree bonfire. I prefer their beer styles to the more exotic selections in Billings brew pubs. Glacier Amber is my preference among their year-round beers, with Czechmate Pilsner as a backup. I like their Oktoberfest and Widowmaker among the seasonals. I'm not much for the porters, IPAs and ciders, but they have a selection of those also. They have almost completed two more buildings on site for a distillery and warehouse, so hopefully they continue to develop this business and expand the food service.

Excellent sandwiches, good beer, lots of outdoor seating, and friendly service. Pretty much exactly what I'd hoped for in this little town. Certainly a place to visit if nearby.

Went here for lunch yesterday, but was heading to work afterwards and already had some of their brews back home, so opted not to try any beers. It was the lunch hour but almost no one was there. I enjoyed the quiet, but had I been there to socialize or even just to drink might have been a little unnerved. I'm sure it gets a little more boisterous later in the day. Had myself one of the gyros sandwiches. Greek (inspired, at least) food is one of my favorites, and was one of two or three things I would have enjoyed from the menu. I can think of things I would have rather seen on the menu, but it wasn't a gourmet restaurant so I'll bite my tongue. Wasn't too enamored of their beer selection. It's all good, of course, but I'm always for more variety, both bottled and on tap. All in all, was a good experience, as quick as it was, and since its practically in my backyard and I enjoy their brews, I shall have to return.

For a small place with no wait staff (orders taken and picked up at bar), they were pretty good all around. Beer was outstanding. One of top three IPAs I've had (Bent Nail) (See separate review in beer section). Food was also very good (variety of unique sandwiches, paninis and some salads). The staff was very busy, but extremely friendly. One of the Dylan and Justin were more than happy to talk beer, brewing, and give some good advice on both along with other places to visit during the trip. Definitely worth the trip!

Beer was solid. Service was bad the lady pouring told me I couldn't sample more than one beer at a time. The tasting room is quite tasteful with lots of stained wood a modern feel and a good size bar and two doors lined with a ton of neat bumper stickers from all over the country. Will be back to test the food shortly.

Beer was pretty cheep 3.75-4.50 for a 16 oz and 3 for a 10 oz.

The sample sizes are shots which sucked but overall I enjoyed the experience hopefully the service is better at dinner.

Diamond in the rough in Montana. The Brewery/pub is pretty large and has an awesome atmosphere-- wooden tables, bar and flight handle and a large door that leads to the their beer garden. The beers were good, and suprisingly 1 or 2 were desish. Def a place to stop by if you ever happen to be near.

this place hits the spot after a day on the slopes. sprawling open wooden themed place, antique in feel but new in construction. it features about 7 or 8 beers on tap, a couple of seasonals too. busy on a saturday afternoon. all the beers we had were great, i liked the oaktoberfest the best, a bourbon barrel aged marzen lager, nice take! chocolate stout was also bomb. people were friendly, service was generous with the samples, although you have to order everything from the bar. food was way better than expected. just soup and a sandwich, but it was fresh and well made and full sized. prices were more than fair. 20 or so bucks for two brews and a meal, no complaints there. its the only show in town from what i gather, but a must stop. you wont be disappointed here, especially when you need a beer to numb the pain from some tough boarding...

edit: i like this place in warm weather too, they have a gorgeous and rather private patio area with hops growing everywhere, neat seating options, sun and shade depending on where you post up, pretty views, and good service. its super mellow and pleasant, locals are friendly, and the afternoon can just lazily pass. the beer quality here too seems better than i remember it too, like they are constantly getting better. always a good time in here!

Recently visited they new Red Lodge taproom located just slightly out of town east of Red Lodge. A major upgrade to the tin shed that they used to be in...though I must say I did love the old taproom...a little rough around the edges but thats what made it cool. The new place is sweet though, just much different...very nice. Looks like they had a decent food menu of sandwiches and things but I didn't try any food. Had a couple of the Maibock's which were excellent. I will go out of my way to visit again!!
