we may have a new winner for my favorite happoshu. by the way, favorite happoshu is pretty much an oxymoron.

standard golden, generic lager. head dies almost instantly, and completely! wow, it really leaves no trace at all. smell is surprisingly beer-like. malty sweet, almost reminds me of an eisbock or some such hardcore beer (however faint as hell, as though you were thinking about an eisbock you had months ago).

taste is nondescript. which is good! it doesn't make me gag, or run to the kitchen and pour the rest out. seriously though, i can see a time and a place for this. specifically, an early summer barbecue with a bunch of rugbee guys. i'm not going to show up with duvel and tulip, but a bunch of cans of this shit would be just right.

Solid happoshu right here. Golden color body and scant head, despite pulsating carbonation. Nose is a mixture of sweetness and hard booze. Taste contains a balanced sweetness with a great mild bitterness in the mouth that also cleanses the aftertaste.

I'm not sure what flavor characteristic the malted unpolished rice adds, but it does make the beer sound healthy. That said, I suppose it just means rice malt. This brew's name means something like 'the time to smell the aroma of the barley'. It claims to be "luxuriously made" and is one Asahi's lamer can designs. Good happoshu though.

Beautiful gold color, no head but insanely intense carbonation.
Rich slightly sweet malty aroma (dispite being brewed with less than 50% malt, other ingrediants used include germanated brown rice, starch and hops).
Malty at first, but quicky fades into extremely light bitterness.
No body, just active carbonation.
This is a decent beer for a happoshu. If I was rating purely within style, this might come out above a 4 average, however, happoshu are not made to be anything but average.
